Laowa is making very interesting MF lenses with great optics & with such an ultra-wide MF can actually enhance the composition process. It does have a monopoly in the 12-16 range if one want something lighter - both for the body & the wallet! Otherwise the tamron 17-28 is a great option & can be had often at a discount or 2nd hand. Really enjoyed your imagery & visual eye on Poland - Kraków

Laowa is one of those brands that delivers high quality lenses but one that can't break into the mainstream. I've always been a fan. Thank you!

It's interesting like we have become a sort of "photographers" who can consider a manual lens as not good enough for travelling 2:52 ;) Saying it as "The Bridges of Madison County" huge fan 🎞 Lovely to see Kraków again as had lived there for several years 🤩

once you shoot 200k photos with auto focus, manual lens seems too old school. I don't mind manual focusing at all but it has to be right time and place for it. Usually when I don't have to rush things or the final results, or should I say final sharpness is not crucial. I love Krakow - I go every year 😉

@@PavSZ Pav, luv, even 200k photos taken with auto-varoius-focus will not turn anyone into Clint Eastwood... 🙈👻🤣 I like the videos you do 😉

Friend for landscape shooting, recommends a Laowa 15mm F2 or a Laowa 12-24mm F5.6 zoom. Thanks João Gonçalves

all Laowa wide angle lenses are good for that

Just wondering how it compares with the Sony 12-24 G. I use it mainly for real state photography so f5.6 is not an issue nor manual focusing. The Sony is a very nice lens but it is huge and heavy. I got the Laowa 100m f2.8 Macro and LOVE that lens better than the Sony 90mm f2.8 Macro G which I also own. This one is very very tempting. Thanks for the great review and photos.

I never used the Sony 12-24 to directly compare the two but this is more than capable for real estate photography

Would you say this is better that Laowa 10-18 ? Which one would you buy and why ? Thanks
@PavSZ Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say it is better. They are 2 different focal lengths. 10-18 being much wider overall. Optically they are very, very similar

Does it have electronic contacts? If not, you’d have to manually set focal length in the body for it to work with IBIS.
@PavSZ2 жыл бұрын
I did answer your question in my video. You don't have to set focal length for IBIS to work with some brands of cameras
@albedo0point392 жыл бұрын
@@PavSZ ah, you mentioned it at 2:13. I think for Sony it’s necessary to make that focal length setting manually.

@@PavSZ @Pav SZ Does this lens need to be manually focused also with a mirrorless camera? I am a little bit confused about that. please clarify that. thanks again.
@PavSZ2 жыл бұрын
@@cdasbd there is no electronic contact between this lens and the camera - aperture and focus have to be set manually with it

Sounds like an interesting lens, but for me, I can get The Sony 20mm f/1.8 G lens used for about the same price which is what I did. I think it will work out better for my uses since I rarely go wider than 20mm. Still, sounds like an interesting and fun lens.

different tool for a different job. I do like Sony 20mm (and 20mm focal length in general) but this is so much more

No L mount, sad!

sadly no but as it is a manual lens it I think it could be adapter from Leica M easily
