I had a pour of the QC last night about 2 hours before the wife got home who was working late. When she got home, the first thing she asked was "why does it smell so smokie in the house?" I love this whiskey.

The Quarter Cask was my introduction into peat and it's honestly my favorite. Heavy smoke plus heavy oak is truly delicious.

Quarter cask. A whisky that stole my heart early on in my love affair with whisky
After the ash, all i can taste from the QC is flowers. Sweet Flowers...and there lies the conundrum that is Laphroaig.

Just opened a bottle and poured myself a glass of this fantastic whisky ..! And watching you guys at the same time .. Liking smokey whiskeys is definitely an acquired test .. My first introduction to smokey whiskey was Ardbeg 10 , and I almost hated it , but now I am in love with Islay whiskies..! Lagavulin 16 is still my favorite , but this Laphroaig quarter cask I can have anytime ..! I also think that this is not necessarily a rough whiskey but rather an aggressive whiskey .. I think there is quite a bit of difference between rough and aggressive .. Plus , at 48 % ABV , you definitely wanna add a couple of drops of water .. I really think adding water opens up this incredible Laphroaig quarter cask and brings out the hidden flavors ..

My first Laphroaig. I have mainly gotten the medicinal, smokey, and oak aspect of this whisky. But with the finish, the bottle I have is almost like eating bacon or ham with light sweetness and smoke mixed with wood. After sitting with no water or some water to cleanse the palate, I have found salty seaweed notes. I will definitely try to 10 next. This scotch right now is my favorite whisky.

Excellent review ! I had a great time watching it ! This is my fathers favorite looll ! He is into smoky whiskey's. And this one meets ALL expectations ! It is one of the best however in its price range. Bellow $100 here in Canada . Remember this one is for the experts and regular whiskey tasters. This bottle will please those people. But I do agree with Ben ! If you have at home an "" expert wannabee "" that knows it all , well just serve him a shot of The Quarter Cask ! LOLL ! Everything will take care on its own 😆😆😆

The first peated/smoked whiskey a friend tried with me (he's had very few whiskey/scotch with me) was Quarter Cask, he loved it.

Laphroaig is excellent. I'm having the Triple Wood as I view this video! If I could only have 3 bottles on my bar I would have Lagavulin 16, any Laphroaig offering and a light Highland Single malt like Glenmorangie 10 or Glenfiddich 12.

Is it smokier than Ardbeg 10? I love smoke!

Although whiskies are what I mostly drink, Laphroaig 10 and Lagavulin being my favorites, it is good to see you have a bottle of Woodford Reserve bourbon on the shelf!

Mahalo (thank you) for your review of the Laphroaig Quarter Cask. I am very new into the whisky trail and someone had mentioned this for the person looking for a very strong experience. I semi blindly purchased a bottle for my birthday only drinking the 10 prior. The QC is everything you said and more. It was nice to know what to expect before I opened. Keep up the good work.

This sounds wonderful. I’ve only had Ardbeg and loved it at first sip.

If you love ardbeg, take the plunge and grab yourself a QC. such a different smoke compared to ardbeg. And like the guys say, with the strong oak notes in there, it's a real joy to sip!

I think the biggest characteristic of this whiskey is how smooth it is despite all of wide variety of flavours it has. Oak smoke vanilla banana

It’s remarkable that this review differs so much from the one you did 5 years ago, in which you said: “it’s not that smoky, not that intense as the 10yo”. Interesting. I often have this experience too though, when I buy a bottle for the second time after a few years, the experience can be totally different from the one in your memory.

Yes I noticed that too compared to the review Horst did before.

Called Master Taster, but isn’t used to tasting the smoke from something like this. There’s a load of flavour and smells that comes in with this whisky, and it’s really good for what it’s supposed to be. That comes from someone who’s had far less bottles or attempts at whisky in general than Horst. Maybe let Ben do the smoky stuff alone since he actually likes it. There’s no validity in saying smoke smoke smoke, when doing a review like this. Maybe come back to it later when you can actually do one. Ben is trying at least, which I am happy about. If he’s the one that can taste things through the smoke and the spiky harsh notes, then he should be the one doing these reviews. I personally cannot understand where the licorice comes from in this particular one, even though taste is very subjective.
@vishnuquick6 жыл бұрын
That's a bit harsh. I am not even sure what loads of flavour one can taste in this whisky. My own personal experience with this one tells me that it is a smoke bomb, and an excellent whisky. That does not necessarily mean it is packed with flavour. And quite honestly I have yet to come across a reviewer praising the qc for the loads of flavour it packs!. Having said that I acknowledge your palate may pick myriad flavours that mine or someone else's can't. Bashing someone for his personal tasting notes is about as pretentious as it can get. Someone tastes licorice in it no one has the right to say it's never going to happen. Every palate is different. Someone who cannot even acknowledge that probably knows nothing about whisky!.
