I honestly think the John Williams scoring line is criminally underrated for one very simple, but very easy to overlook reason: it's a rebuttal to one of Indiana's stronger flex/disses. Indiana, at the ending of his first verse, brags about how his theme song is more famous than anything tomb raider did. Lara then later on rebuttals that by effectively saying "while that may be true... that's not your credit at all, as it wasn't YOUR accomplishment". So Lara effectively rendered the ending of Indiana's first verse null. and if there is any part that is important to a verse; it's the ending.

10:30 If I remember correctly, the part where Lara hits him about the 'Toxic Date' is based on a scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark where Indy is visiting a friend in Egypt and is offered a bowl of dates. The friends pet monkey steals one, eats it and dies because the Dates were poisoned. Which leads to that friend preventing Indy from eating one.

I find it funny that most responses to this new ERB rap battle seem to think the monkey comes from Temple of Doom. However, when she's talking about dates and killing a monkey, it must be, by default, the poison dates that kill the monkey in Raiders of the Lost Ark. That's just what I took away from it, of course.

The 'they should be outside' line is also a reference to an exchange in Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull during the bike chase where Indy says to a student he has to get out of the library and do actual field work to be a good archeologist. Hardly anyone seems to be picking up on that one. I guess it shows just how memorable KOTCS was.

The “toxic date you could kill a little monkey” line I believe is actually a reference to Raiders of the Lost Ark when Sallah stops Indy from eating poisoned fruits in Cairo after noticing one of the bad guy’s monkey dead near by after it ate a, to quote Sallah, “Bad date”.

The toxic dates refers to a scene in Raiders of the Lost Arc where Indy is eating dates while they try to get the location for the arc. The dates are poisoned and a monkey eats them. Indy is saved by his friend who catches a date before Indy eats it.

My favorite Indiana Jones scene is not when he shot the swordsman but actually from the Last Crusade when they were on the zeppelin and he threw the Gestapo officer out through the window and when the passengers looked shock, Indy was like "No ticket!" and everybody scrambled to show him their tickets 😆 Great reaction, Teach 👍

@@TeacherEddieHistory there may not be archaeological lore to aliens. But there is cultural lore in history of visitors from other planets. So for my opinion the idea wasn’t that bad. The execution wasn’t equal to the first three. They tried to hard to make it feel like a Tomb raider or Uncharted, adding too much in terms of complicated booby traps. Rather than keeping it simple like an Indiana Jones movie.

For me, it's never been a stretch, but it's just really different type of thing. The other 3 movies were mostly artifacts of religion and gods while this one is basically science fiction. But that's really the least of the movies problems for me.

The crystal skull idea is based off ones people found in real life. The movie just changed them to alien skulls instead . They are said to be very old but others think they are faked and pretty recently made.

"Youre such a toxic date you could kill a little monkey" refers to a scene in raiders of the lost ark where indiana jones attempts to eat a date by throwing it in the air and catching it with his mouth but the guy next to him figured out that the dates were poisoned by the nazis and stops indiana from eating it because he noticed a dead monkey lying next to the table that ate one of them

Overall, a very good battle with good performances across the board and some really great backgrounds visually. Not sure who I would give the win to, but I think my favorite lines were Indiana's "Let's cut to the Chase, wait he died, guess you couldn't tap that X in time" and Lara's "You're not John Williams so you ain't scoring."

harrison ford turned 80 years old this year and is playing a 70 year old indiana jones in the 5th film as well as indy in his late 30's in the time travel sequence of the 5th film as indy was born on july 1st 1899 if you factor in the young indiana jones series which is set during ww1 it shows he has been alive through ww1,ww2,korean war,veitnam war and the 5th film will have the moon landing as part of the plot so he has been doing what he does through 5 major events in 20th century history 4 of which were wars

The spy monkey followed Indy and Marion around but ended up eating the poisoned date that Indy was supposed to eat. THANK YOU! The Indy game was not bad! I liked it better than Pitfall.

Indy needed another verse. There were a few lines he could flip on her in that round. Besides Laura's claim to fame is sex appeal but Indy was the person I dressed as for Halloween and the reason I took archaeology in college. And as far as first video game crush this gamer girl has to give that to Chris Redfield (even if he's not in this battle).

I'm no expert. And I'm not naïve, the reason Lara's outfit is that way is to objectify her. However, if in a jungle or a desert would little clothing not be good? Very warm and hard to traverse climates. Less clothing would be easier to move in and cooler. Wouldn't Indiana's jacket be counterintuitive? I'm of course overthinking this.

I feel a little defensive of Charlton Heston because my mom used ta be his nurse in Hollywood but the thing about when he was the spokesman for the NRA is they weren`t the fanatical gun nuts opposed to even the most moderate regulations on firearms they are now at that time and in Heston`s later years he did seem to regret being such a fanatic about guns after Columbine and the Virginia Tech school shootings happened.

Thought Indy had the better flow, Peter did a magnificent job going to sound like Harrison Ford cadence. An his lines hit harder, and were true Laura Croft is just a sex appeal Indiana Jones rip off. His lines about Uncharted and her being little wayne to the character Drake and then tying that to Drake being 10x huger then Little Wayne was criminally savage. However the actress they got for Laura is beautiful, and the mostly male fanbase will go gaga for the female actress. She had some good bars too just not as good TO ME, tho se gets huge credit for adding a British accent. I think this is one of the top 5 best ERB's and if they are going to be this amazing they can take 8 months to come out I would be fine with that.

I kill dinosaurs for fun is also a reference to the first and second games, where in Tomb Raider 1996, she kills some raptors and a T-Rex in the level Lost Valley whilst looking for 3 cogs. in the second game Tomb Raider II she kills 2 T-Rexes in the level The Great Wall. One before you get the golden statue that gives you a grenade launcher and grenades, and one on the way back to fully close out the level. When Indy says "Not trying to unload the barrels on your thighs" he's referencing the fact that IN AALL Tomb Raider games from 1996 - 2008 Her starting weapons are the dual weilding pistols that start with WNLIMITED AMMO.
