SO cute to see this video from 2013! Your videos now are so much more professional, but the quality of recipes have always been wonderful. Love your book, but still come back to the videos to see your style in preparation.

Love your videos. They are even better than the Thai cooking class I've taken locally. This recipe was absolutely wonderful and now I am working on Kai Yang (indoors though because I live in an apartment like yourself). Keep them coming. Thai cuisine is a gift to the world!

Made this last night and it was delicious! Only thing I did different is I added a tiny clove of minced garlic and a few dashes of coconut aminos. Served it with butter lettuce and sliced, peeled and deseeded Japanese cucumber. I should have made a little jasmine rice, that would have rounded it out nicely. Thank you for an excellent recipe!

Yes, we used to make our own chili powder at home too. You first take Thai chilies, and let them dry out completely in the sun. (You can probably do this is a very low oven too). And then grind them in a food processor. OR you can start by buying Thai dried chilies and grind them. If you want a smokey flavour you can quickly deep fry the dried chilies so they start to darken, let them rest on paper towel to remove excess oil before grinding.

I totally get your confusion!Thai salads are generally very meat centric, think of it as something closer to a tuna salad or a chicken salad. There often isn't a direct translation into english for the type of dish we have, so this is considered a salad in a sense that it's made by tossing ingredients together in a bowl without cooking them together. Makes sense?

You can also eat it with a lot of other greens. My mom loves to eat it with endive/chicory, by filling the leave with the salad. But I've seen others using cabbages and other vegetables too. I'm also used to eating it cold, instead of right out of the pan.

That's a relatively new innovation :) If you want to make crispy larb, just make this larb, except mix everything in with RAW ground pork. Form it into balls or patties or whatever shape, and then deep fry them. Some people like to add "deep frying batter mix" to it to bind it together and make it crispier, but I don't personally like added starch, so I just add an egg to bind it together and fry it in a pan like a patty :)

Hey Rani, I tried replying to your message but it seems you have some sort of a "lock" that prevents people from sending messages to you. Anyway, that flower is an orchid. It's one of the iconic flowers of Thailand. There are many types of orchids out there, I'm not sure what that specific variety is called, but that one is most often used for food garnish (probably because it's most widely available and inexpensive).

Hi! I'm definitely loving your channel and have tried many of your recipes...finally I can get some authentic Thai cuisine at home! Would you consider making a tutorial on how to make Ho Mok Pla (if I spell it correctly)? I have eaten it in Thailand and also tried the cambodian version (amok) but after three attempts I can't get it right...it comes out either too wet or too "eggy", without that amazing soufflé-like texture :( Hope you can help with your own recipe ;) greetings from Italy!

A few questions? Is it acceptable to use the packaged rice powder ? When cooking the pork, could you use pork stock (if available) instead of water Is it okay to add Lime juice? I have had this salad, made with Beef and chicken in Philadelphia and Honolulu

Packaged rice powder is okay to use but the aroma will not be as good/strong as the fresh one. Even better if you can use pork stock! And I do add lime juice to this recipe :)

hi! can anyone help - I was brought up insisting all rice/grain be boiled/cooked with water rice to not be consumed without cooking with water....I know the rice (here) is browned, and then consumed...looked thru comments no one seemed to ask so im trying to find out - is it true the rice is consumed without being boiled?? Thanks everyone!

Hi Henrietta! Adam here, and yes you can consume rice that hasn't been cooked, and in fact that is how rice flour is made. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rice_flour Cheers! Adam

Good recipe, but I found that 2 tbsp of lime juice to be too sour for me. I’d start with one and add more to your taste.
