$2,000 for groceries seems like a lot despite inflation

$2000 a month. $461.54 a week for 6 people?$57.70 per person. $8.24 a day per person. Don't all the Congress people who try to eat $10 a day food stamp level for a week always quit after day 3 or 4?? I'm def a fan of Aldi's/Lidl for cheaper prices for produce, dairy etc.
@juliecastillo9142 жыл бұрын
As a mom of five going on six that's actually not a bad number. Especially because it looks like some of the kids are a little bit older you're not talking about 6 toddlers. You break it down it's less than $60 a week per person. That's not bad. You also have to remember that larger families are less likely to eat out so this grocery bill probably includes them eating at home more than your average American family

I took on a part-time job so I could make three times the mortgage payment. I have two payments left. Then it will be 30% of my take-home pay into retirement. I look way more poor than the folks in the show. But in reality I have a lot more disposable income. I long learned it's not the house you live in that matters it's how you spend your money. And I have the luxury of leasing a car so it's always updated. I long stopped being jealous because people live in bigger and nicer houses. That's okay.

I certainly feel bad for anyone struggling. But for a family of 6 to spend $2,000 on groceries per month.. that’s ridiculous. They must be shopping based on what they want to eat vs what’s on sale. You need go to the store to only buy what you want. You go, see what’s on sale and then stock up. For the first time in 2 years I found ground beef for $2.49 on sale at Kroger’s. So I bought 25 pounds. Stock up because I guarantee it’ll go back to $4.49 a pound next week

I’m in Denver, where everything is expensive however we paid around $1000 for grocery with six mouths to feed. I don’t know where they been shopping but they better hit Aldi or something. @@robp.7732 I see where your coming from. However, capitalism is owning property and controlling it to suit your interests. The goal is to be profitable. However, in this case it’s clear that they are fairly modernized and they are more so on the path of working for their money and budgeting based on their corporate income. I could see where your coming from if maybe they owned farmland, or a family business where the children worked to contribute to the family’s profits…then maybe. I think they are a regular family of eight that could clearly afford their lifestyle prior to covid. We have to consider that having a stay at home mom is a luxury and takes a lot of financial sacrifices. I believe that this recession followed by record rates of inflation caught up to them quicker then they anticipated.
