I’m not sure I would make this big of batches but then again it depends on how many kids you have, work schedule etc. it was really cool seeing SO many ideas in one video for meal prep and I think people should understand obviously that won’t work for everyone but pick and choose the tips they’ve been shown and will work for them instead of criticizing. You obviously have a system down but I can imagine it took a lot of work, planning, and patience to develop

It’s crazy how people criticize how you plan your meals and make money stretch. To the complainers: Obviously, it works for them and that’s how they do it. If they wanted your way, I’m sure she would ask “Let me know if you think our meat portions are to your expectations. Let us know whether you think this is how you think we should do it.” It’s crazy how people expect you should do things differently. To the KZbinr: Your meal plans are great and inspiring. If anyone wants to change or add something different, by all means, do. And yes everyone is entitled to their opinion but some people criticize way too much instead of being positive.

However, now I'm more interested in your freezer cooking. What I meant to say is the same herbs I use in my pizza dough (I go with Redstar Yeast's recipe its super simple and tasty), I have added to a basic white bread recipe. Just up the amount of spices. I tend to go with about a tablespoon and a half each of oregano, basil and thyme. I don't use garlic powder with my bread dough as you really need fresh minced garlic to actually taste it. I make a 5 cup or 5 1/2 cup white bread recipe. 2 cups bread flour and 3 or more of white depending on the season and weather.

Little tip for pizza making: put the cheese under the rest of the filling, that way the filling will bake not steam 😺 Edit: The melted cheese will make a lit there provent the water from the rest of the filling too just go away (we don’t want extra water in the food, right?)

This is the prime example of a women who knows the important things in life and being a good steward over that which the Lord has called us to do. Wow I love your monthly cook ups.Its a good idea to freeze the crushed doritos so they dont get eaten.Are you going to bake as well?You are very organised and thrifty.I live in Australia and although theres just 2 of us I bulk cook meat dishes and freeze them in one portion lots.My husband likes meat but I am vegetarian,so this way meal time is easier.We buy meat in 2kg lots which is cheaper,and separate into 1 person serves.We also freeze bread,veges,muffins and I make small dinner rolls into individual garlic breads.That way we use 1 each whenever we need them.I admire you Amy with your time and money management,keep up the good work,take care,Foxy.

Mason jars are also a good way to keep chips "fresh". Since they have the rubber bit under the lid, it keeps them from going stale as fast. I use the 1/2 gallon containers for chips, crackers, cookies etc. I starteed because it keeps out mice, pantry moths etc. but I love that I can buy one bag of chips & snack on it until it's expiry date without them going stale - even during the humid summer months.

I just stumbled onto your channel, I've watched a few videos and let me just say a couple things: God bless you and you completely amaze me. I raised 2 biological and 7 stepchildren and I was never that organized. I wished I would have seen this then. I would have been able to spend more time with them in the long run. Again, amazing! Bless you and your family.

A lot of people including my family doesn’t consider it a dinner without meat. I can totally get away with just making him a hamburger or a steak but if I tried to give him like some veggies or mashed potatoes (things we consider a side dish) only he would be like thanks but no thanks. Obviously they can afford it.

My mom used to make us bologna salad, it was bologna, onion, boiled eggs, sweet pickles, and miracle whip. She would use a meat grinder, but I use my food processor grind the bologna, then onion, then eggs, then sweet pickles and she would put miracle whip and mix it up. We would have it on our way to Arkansas for vacation. Stop at a picnic area have a bologna salad sandwich and chips on the trip. There was 7 kids and 2 adults. My parents are gone now but what great memories.

This is exactly why I don’t want a ton of children. Too exhausting and expensive. It would suck to eat frozen meals everyday, I like to be able to cook fresh dinners for my small family every night and on occasion have prepped meals or eat out. Kuddos to this lady for all that work and all those kids! But why not just prep lunches and have your kids alternate cooking a meal (or helping) every night instead? It would be a good learning experience for when they go off on their own and would help mom out greatly to take some of the stress off her shoulders. Many kids don’t cook today and have no idea how to take care of themselves when they move out.

My life is zero stress when compared to most of the world and we have children because we LOVE them that much. When I can look at my children and see my husband and myself in them, it's pretty cool. Sure we don't have two car payments and credit card debt like the rest of the world but I sure wouldn't trade in any of my babies for debt. We eat a lot of fresh fruits and veggies this is just a meal prep not the whole picture :) and every one of my children knows how to take care of a home and can cook when they are 18:). Some like it more than others but they know basics. We teach life skills and prepare them for life. Life isn't stressful and crazy when you are doing what you are supposed to do. Large families not for everyone, I agree, when you go against what you are supposed to do, you are exhausted and stressed and have no money but when you follow what you are supposed to be doing it amazingly works !!! Pretty cool. I am glad you are here and hope you can take some tips for your home..

We have four kiddos and I started freezer cooking many many years ago to allow us more freedom in our schedules during summer. Longer days at the beach or parks were so much more enjoyable knowing I had a homemade meal pre-made waiting for us when we got home. Turn on the oven when we walk in the door, put dinner in, pop the girls in the tub!! Whabam!! Dinner with no effort and even less clean up 🙌🏻 Yes Please! As the girls got older and started after school clubs and extracurricular activities it became came a necessity!! toting four kids around with swimming lessons ballet, jazz, acrobat, softball, FFA, feeding pigs at the farm, Girl Scouts 🤪 This Mama needed all the help she could get!! Meal planning and freezer cooking made sure my girls had healthy home cooked scratch made food every night! Now that my oldest ( she’s 20) lives with her Boyfriend. They freezer meal prep as well and love it!!

All I was saying is this is so much work, it looks exhausting. I couldn’t do it. I gave kuddos to this woman for all that she does. The suggestion of having the kids help is to benefit them so they can have fresh meals every once and awhile, which teaches the kids PLUS takes some stress off of mama. If I had that many kids, I would have them help me out with cooking etc. It’s a lot to put on one person! Moms need breaks! 🙂

Oh yes we eat lots of fresh meals. When we do chicken freezer meal...it would be the same as someone buying chicken and then adding the ingredients right then, we just pull it out and grill basically we do the mess all in one day. Then we will make sides, sweet potatoes fries, salad, rice or whatever we want. So a lot of it is fresh. We are just minimizing the amount of mess and clean up it takes. When you are already doing it, you might as well do a couple more to save ya some work later.. My kids do help. We all help. We are a family, in this together. And I do believe that you can do anything you put your mind too. I never thought I would do what I am doing now, its rewarding and I absolutely love my life wouldn't trade it for the world. I'm glad your here. Have a great night!

Does anyone know a healthier alternative to plastic bags? I'm leaving to freeze large quantities of food but I don't feel comfortable using plastic bags and they always make your food taste funny. In an ideal world I'd have enough Pyrex to cover the job, but it's so pricey. What else can be used that's non-toxic? No plastics here.

you can prep & cook in aluminum foil pans covered in aluminum foil if you want a version that's lighter than glass & less breakable if you have an accident plus, they're recyclable when you use them enough times they've worn down or you poke a mystery hole in them.

Line your baking trays with tinfoil that goes up and over the top. Freeze and then lift out tinfoil package so the tray/casserole can be reused. Easy to stack but takes up less room.

Love this! I hadn’t thought of freezing French toast! Great idea! How do you cook the breakfast burritos? Just microwave? Also, the sandwich meat that you chopped up-does it make it go further? Taste different?
@amymaryon
@amymaryon 6 жыл бұрын
We wrap in a paper wrap and microwave for 1 min 30 sec. I just chop it up because we can use it for so many things... fillings for breakfast burritos, pizza toppings, sandwich spread etc. Does not alter the taste. It enhances it. If you take lunch eat and freeze it flat and then eat it cold , the texture is weird but if you puree it , tastes fine and texture is good.

if you saw raw meat touching cooked meat, I'd love to get the minute mark cuz I must be blind then but also, food bourne illnesses are not able to jump from meat to meat through the air... they have to be physically touching in some way or germs from hands & you're more likely to get a meat illness from poultry but she didn't have raw chicken laying all over the counter when she was dealing with the beef nor puddles of chicken juices touching anything so I'm thoroughly confused as to where this came from

Boiling ground beef is a thing in the freezer cooking community. You lose a little flavor by not browning it, but you can do more in stock pot than a skillet, and you get broth when you finish.
