Nice group of hunters! I have the older LW Buck from the 80’s. The handle more duplicates the 110 handle than these later models. I really appreciate the folding hunters, it was all that I loved as a teenager.

I think I've got my quota of them. I'm patiently waiting the return of the "Atrocity 110" that I sent Buck for a blade replacement. It was a flea market find that had been hacked all to heck.

Thanks for the shout out & sticker trade buddy. I'm getting a couple more folding Hunters in from Rough Ryder. Your folding Hunter series made me realize they are one of my favorite patterns. Good shout-outs! Two fine channels, for sure. Sometimes Tobias swaps out his hobo face for Red Skelton’s. A funny for us old folks. I’m not a huge Buck 110 fan - I didn’t have one as a kid, unlike most knife folks. I like that Golden Bear in ironwood, though. Real handsome. Appreciate the info on knife companies. I’ve been looking at some old Parkers on eBay - digging that 1980s esthetic of slabs of white bone.

Rite Edge uses Pakkawood. Buck often uses DymondWood. What's DymondWood? Bucks trademark name for Pakkawood! LOL. I really like that IXL with the barehead! The Schrade LB7 is a Classic! And yep, that is pakkawood. The 7OT is the same frame as the Schrade LB7. I prefer the one with the Desert Ironwood (6OTW) Buck LW from Walmart seems like the Bargain of the day! THe OD Buck is also pretty cool But you have to admit, the two economy Bucks seemed to have a little bit of Jim Frost "Tactical Folding Hunter" Still I like that OD Slim Select and its a USA Buck!
@ThriftyKaniffy3 жыл бұрын
The LB7 is my favorite among the group of seven. Yes, the Frost flying saucer. Thus named 'cus when you wiggle the blade the washer goes a flying. I'd hope a USA Buck would do better, but it is reminiscent in appearance. The IX*L is the budget king. I doubt they stick around long.

I have an early 80's Craftsman knife, similar to a Buck 110. It was made by Camillus. Why don't I see it in KZbin Videos? I carry it. I inherited it from my father a few years ago and in was brand new in the package when I got it. In general I have to ask, on KZbin, where is Camillus?
@ThriftyKaniffy Жыл бұрын
Camillus isn't the player in the knife world they used to be since closing shop in the US. They made some solid pieces in the day. There's Camillus reviews out there, keep searching. One example from my friend Knife Delights kzbin.info/www/bejne/bH6ci3ahZa-LmKs
@FernandoChaves Жыл бұрын
@@ThriftyKaniffy Thanks, yes, I am aware of all that. I meant specifically the old Camillus folding hunters. There are many videos about folding hunters that include numerous old models, most often comparing with the Buck 110. I don't think I have found one yet that includes the Camillus made folding hunters.

That was pretty usefull information TK. Now i have to find out what they sell over here, the prices on the Buck's are mostly double, what they cost in the USA. 90-110 dollars on a Buck 110 standard. So i will look if the sell Rite Edge or IXL over here. Thank you for showing.

I like the Rough Rider knives. Yes they are inexpensive, and to some they might not be the most desirable for a collection. But how many company's do you know that make a single blade 5" Barlow or a Large folding Toothpick ? 2 Iconic designs that belong in every slip joint collection. Now on to this video. Nice video, nice knives. I have not yet gotten a Rite Edge folding hunter yet but it looks pretty sweet. The XL reminds me of the 7OT with the lanyard hole.

Thanks for the comments Richard. The Rite Edge are great discovery knives to determining if you like carrying a particular pattern. I've seen qute a few people add third party thumbstuds to all sorts of folding hunters like the 6OTW.

Ka-bar also has a folding hunter. It's very affordable. In fact it's the same price as the Buck 110 LT, but it's all metal also with a 420c blade. I bought this since I can't afford a Buck 110 classic. This was the closest thing that I could find that fitted my pocket and it's my daily carry for one year now. I absolutely love it. Folding hunters are great. I'm looking to pick up an Uncle Henry Papa Bear next. I know a lot of people don't care for the Uncle Henry fake stag but I like them. They remind me of the knives I'd see in the hardware store and sporting goods store displays when I was a kid.
@ThriftyKaniffy3 жыл бұрын
Probably in agreement with most that don't care for the Stagalon handles though I do own a few of them. Tobias once referred to it as melted crayon chewed on by a four year old, but sentimentality I understand and it gives you the right "feels" nothing else matters.

440C from Japan at that price is a steal. Worldwide 24/7 you can get a Buck and the classic is living history, progress, sculpture, and game changing tool in one best thing is you can get a Buck slim in the same size, same steel, same consistant heat treat to use as a work knife so use is 2nd nature. It is a beautiful thing to have a trainer / worker so you know the steel and handle shape inside and out so when you crack out that safe piece it has meaning beyond fiscally irresponsible playtime.

"Knife Chats With Tobias" has the most knowledge of traditional pattern knives, old and new, on the internet. The "Hobo" is an homage to Red Skeleton (an old school comedian/performer from years ago) I think. The Hobo was Reds most beloved character.
