Beautiful catches and honestly it’s so crazy on how emergency lighting has evolved over the past 10 years I just noticed towards the end that the CHP units every time they change the tone of their siren the lights flash differently

Why so many units? In my country in New Zealand we send two cops one ambulance and one fire truck. The fire trucks have all the tools on required for any situation

In California, usually CHP Officers respond to major accidents, sometimes sending many units including CHP Officers who investigate the crash. Evidence could be lead to court in case if someone would like to sue (because in America, we like suing people), and fire trucks are usually there in case a reckless driver decides to swerve through roads, and crash into the fire truck instead of the responding units.

CalFire has contracts with several cities in California to provide fire services and sometimes back up local fire departments for service

A lot of companies have their rescue tools on their tillers. That could be a possibility

Communities will send larger trucks to on highway accidents a lot, they make excellent traffic blockers as well as carrying some rescue tools. We don’t have tillers in my community but any accident on a 4 or more lane highway automatically gets an aerial ladder for traffic control.

Ladder trucks carry medical and extrication equipment. If the accident require specialized equipment, rescue is called.

Your emergency services are weird in Santa Cruz... 1 car and 1 motorcycle collide and you get 1 EMS, 2 FD + 2 BCs and 4 LE units, all of them code 3? Seems like a lot of unnecessary code 3, which just multiplies the risks of secondary accidents. Where I’m from, you’d get 1 EMS, 1 FD (all of our engines carry extrication gear) and just a couple LE units; and the LEs would be code 2 responses in most instances. Works out well for your channel, just seems excessive.
