This was history. The wall came down in the Soviet Union. Metallica played there right after in Russia. History made. All those folks and soldiers, first time in their life time to have a modern band play. I did see them twice in my younger years.

And just like that - another metalhead is born!

4:13 I've seen metallica a few times at festivals and they're still incredible live. If you ever get chance to go to a metal festival you have to. Everyone is you best friend, there's literally no negativity despite how angry the music sounds

Your interested in rock and roll. Try house of the rising Sun by the Animals from 1964. It will give you shivers. It is an unsurpassed classic. A 100 year old traditional ballad done by a British band with Eric Burdon singing. You won't believe his voice do your self a favour. Cheers

Remember, The Soviet Union disolved in 1991. This was the 1st "Western" rock concert in a now free Russia.

Definitely not the first western rock concert

Read the lyrics to Enter Sandman- they’re really great. ❤ This was the first rock festival ever in Russia. The soldiers just gave up and joined the crowd!

If you are still interested in Australian rock. Try Radio Birdman... Aloha Steve and Danno based in the Hawaii 5-0 theme. Or Decent into the maelstrom. Your rock eyes will be opened. Have fun

These people were not dangerous or anything, every one rocked out even the military guards. Biggest concern is that crowd in back pushes forward and then people get hurt up front crushed against the stage, bands ask for people to be careful and back up give air to those people and Always the people respond ❤❤❤ every one only wants to have a good time. Your thinking about crazy heavy metal and mosh pits of headbanging slamming pools of people who are clueless of those around them and you go to concerts and end up with broken bones 😢.

5:32 get an electric guitar if you're just starting. They're a lot easier to play because the strings are closer so you don't need to stretch your fingers as far.

Kirk kinda looked scared. That crowd could kill them.

Start on an acoustic to get your finger strength and technique right. Then go off on electric.

Heavy metal lead singers sound like another instrument ( in most cases). They are part of the song and the instruments, not separate or stand alone. Most pop music, the singer is interchangeable and the focus of the music, which is odd when it is so cookie cutter. This was a concert after the Soviet Union collapsed.
