Chain laws usually start in September or October - several states out west require you to carry chains "or other acceptable traction devices", regardless of weather. I don't get out in this kind of nastiness, because I learned how to drive in it back during the global cooling scare of the 70s - and most of the idiots think they can do 70 bumper to bumper in this mess, and the 100+ vehicle pileups are the result, and I don't want to be part of it. (And I never was. I just retired to southern Texas after 40 years trucking so I wouldn't have to deal with snow!)

He told me he didn't need permits because the load was within 4 feet of the rub rail ...... It still baffles me that so many people believe politicians who claim it isn’t real when they are making their judgment based on belief instead of scientists that dedicated their life to studying it and saying it is real. This is why America is doomed.

@@chickensdone1 Climate change is a real thing, sure, it's been happening for millions of years before humanity, it will continue to happen for millions of years after humanity kills itself off. Human actions cannot change the climate - every single time we try, we make things worse before nature corrects itself and undoes our meddling. It still baffles me that educated people have so much hubris to think that we can change the climate.

At least for Colorado Springs, this wasn't the first snow of the year. We got an inch or so a couple weeks ago. Still huge - we probably got a couple feet total. Granted, it will be melted by tomorrow. LOL That's Colorado for ya.

It's just another storm, biggest difference is that Colorado is now full of people not from there and don't know how to deal with it. That and truckers used to be better, more experienced with it. Doesn't help we are living in a time when people think they know all about everything and refuse think they could be the one to slide off the road. Be humble, be patient, slow down, and you'll get there without killing anyone.

I've been here longer & I don't know what your talking about. Not only is this normal for Colorado usually after September 15th it's fair game to get snow. I was here during the blizzard of 84, ECT.

@@Exiztential 'Normal' is a very subjective term when it comes to weather and climate. There are short term trends, long term trends, anomalies, etc. Weather and climate patterns are constantly changing...always have and always will.
@Exiztential14 күн бұрын
@@barrettorth8413 In this case what is normal is based on a statistical range which has been determined by historical data. This is exactly why the NWS has data literally classified as "monthly normal" and "cumulative normal" for snowfall totals. So no, in this context, it's not subjective at all.
@barrettorth841314 күн бұрын
@@Exiztential Classifying the data by 'monthly' normal and 'cumulative' normal are exactly what I'm talking about. 'Normal' is a term that is relative only within specific periods of time. The point is that weather and climate is always changing and shifting over time, thus trying to ascribe causal conclusions or predictions based on anomalous or so-called 'historical events' is an exercise in futility; even worse is when politicians and their media operatives try to fearmonger based on these events.

This is normal. We get storms like this every couple of years..There is a very small area in Colorado that is in a drought which is maybe 30 miles square. You may want to do some research but then again this is the old school 1960's style overhyped media..

This is the ONLY time national news does such stories on Colorado. They won't be anywhere near when all the snow is gone in a week to 10 days and it's in the 60's again. Especially around the Denver metro area. Then it makes people feel like its the same as it is in the east, that when the first heavy snow comes it stays and becomes that hard, ugly, block of snow ice that just keeps growing until spring.

I'm a truck driver. Been trucking for 28 years. If weather was the cause, then everybody would be crashing. Every trip I go out, I see ticking time bombs on the interstate all the time and everywhere in the states. What I mean, no matter the weather conditions, you se a group of 5 even 20 or more tailgating each other on the interstate at full speed or faster. One has a heart attack or seizure or whatever and that starts a chain reaction of accidents. And most of all, almost everyone is on their phone while driving. City driving you have no choice to drive in crowded conditions but on the interstate? C'mon people! Give yourself some space and time. I drive 65 or less and still make it on time for my appointments.

I drove through that section on I-80 years ago after an ice storm. Lines of trucks laid out on their sides on the sides of the highway. And it’s from being pushed to try making deliveries during dangerous weather. I’m so glad I don’t drive truck anymore.

I was in a huge unexpected blizzard storm in Cheyene , WYOMING 63 years ago 😮😱. It was 40 ft deep snow and 40 degrees below zero😢😱😩😮. My y parents were trapped on the highway overnight. They ran out of fuel trying to stay warm. A Simi Truck Driver took them and 4 other people into his cab so they wouldn’t freeze to death. My Sister and I were trapped at home with the entire tiny home buried to almost the roof. We were so afraid through the night hearing the strong winds and blowing and the scary sound of that is still etched in my mind🥴.
