As an 84 Fiero owner this is extremely sad to see. I have never seen or heard of a Pontiac Fiero until about 4 months ago, now I'm the proud owner of one. I'm going to take very good care of her and maybe I'll even give her a few upgrades.

Notice how all the passenger compartments are intact on the ones that have been smashed. A good testament for how well designed the Fiero was. Only 5-star safety rating for a car without air-bags.

This junkyard may have numerous Fieros but they are mainly 4 cyl coupes. Those cars and their parts are NOT in demand. What is in demand are the Fiero GT's, especially the 1988 models.

As stated by a top GM engineer it was one of the safest structures GM has built.

@@stebecinc in a crash they perform well, but they are not structurally rigid when going even slightly outside the parameters of the space frame. IE. The roof section must be intact to be structurally sound. Cutting the roof section will cause a dramatic bow in the rest of the body. Which isnt bad, except when you want to make a convertible. Some convertible kits have been made and require bracing all over the space frame and you still end up with a slight bowing effect.

@@stebecinc how am i wrong. its a pretty well known fact that the fiero convertible kits required alot of bracing and anyone that has removed the roof section gets an extreme bow in the body. this common on any space frame vehicle. your top engineers are probably not talking about modified frames.

Funny your friend said those are not strong cars. Those cars fared better in crash tests than most cars of the day. My 85 2M4 plowed into the side of an Audi 5000 at 55 mph and my car fared way better than his. That one car where the side was all tore up It took something pretty extreme to do that kind of damage to that car.

The space frame they had was pretty good for its size. The trouble come in when you modify it or it gets rusty, more specificly the roof section. If the roof gets compromised it will bend in half like a banana. I forget what they had to do but the company that made convertible fieros had to do a ton of bracing to make it not fold.

Gotta get the fastback. Notchback fieros gt, se, indy, or formula is hideous. Unfortunately they where all 4 cylinder notches. Few 88s so i should grab the rear subframe and suspension. Also the calipers are sought after becuase a few weeks ago the manufacturers ran out of cores.

Stick with 85+ the later the etter as they ironed issues out. 88 is the best becuase it had a redesigned lotus suspension, though they can be pricey. They came as fastbacks and notchbacks which i thing fastbacks look way better. Could come with hardtop, removable, sunroof, or in 88 tTops. My dream is a black 88 TTops, v6 5speed, fastback. Id stick with the v6s but even the 4 cylinders are pretty peppy andget crazy MPG

What ever you do don’t get aftermarket ones if you have the originals seats you can get new seat covers through the fiero store a bit pricey now and shop around for upholstery shops it get new foam
