As a struggling father I needed this song. I work from the time I wake up to when I lay down. 4:30 I start my main job in construction. I’m off at 4 and go go work on side jobs. When I get home I make wooden crafts to sell. I have 3 kids and an amazing wife. I’m physically, mentally, and emotionally drained, but to see my family’s stomach full and a roof over there head is what keeps me going. Y’all plz pray for me.

I'm not an emotional man. That being said, I cried when this song played. It made me think of my father and all hes had to do for our family. Factory work, swing shifts, blisters, busted knees and back. U dont think about it when ur kids but god he sacrificed himself for our survival. U always hear about the hardships of being a mother but never the sacrifices of being a father. Now in my thirties, I too have a child of my own and a family. I work long hours in construction in the florida heat just to keep out heads above water. Sometimes I do side jobs so I can take my family somewhere nice every now and then. I hope I'm doin ok just trying to follow in my fathers shoes. Us blue collar workers are forgotton amongst all that is happening in country. Just know we r still here. Where I live we have a country station that plays all the pop country and a station that plays real country.

I was only 17 when I moved out to find a better life for my self and get off drugs. I was the only one in my family to have a high school diploma for many generations. I found work as a underground utilities worker for a couple of years. I met my wife when I was 18 she moved in with me and I became a husband later on. I'm 23 now and am trying to be a mechanic at my job. I have a boy who is now a year old. I work my ass off every day and try to do the best I can to be a provider for them and set aside my own wants to make sure they have what they need. Every time I hear this song early in the morning it makes things better and for a short time I don't feel stressed about life and I find peace on my ride to work and home. I hope others find peace in this song

Laborer in a steel mill and travel to power plants. It’s not always easy. I just turned 24 yes I’m young and don’t have as much time in as people in the rest of the comments but this song brings tears to my eyes every time I listen to it. My girlfriend and step son hate when I’m gone. I just hope they know I do it all for them. 7 days a week on nights right now and this song hits home hard. Not being able to spend time with them is what hurts the most. Sometimes we need music like this to keep us pushing. This is what mainstream country should sound like. What a damn good song Larry thank you!

I guess I can’t speak for anyone but myself, but I have a very strong feeling that they know you do it all for them. This is coming from a “seasoned” ironworker wife. We were about your age when my husband started his apprenticeship, so I’ve lived it. Just don’t forget to sprinkle in some random special moments now and then. It doesn’t have to be anything spectacular...randomly bring your girlfriend flowers or something else you know she likes, or if you get a day off, take her to a nice hotel, just the two of you. As for you little one...take him on a one-on-one drive, or take him out to supper, just the two of you...just let him talk about anything his little heart desires. I guarantee he will remember it forever. We’ve raised 2 boys in this life, they’re 17 and 14 now, but those “little” moments meant the world to them, especially our youngest. He still talks about him and dad going out for wings, and that was 5 years ago. Hang in there, keep the lines of communication open, you got this 🙂

Part of me feels like this song doesn't directly relate to me, but the other part feels so grateful that it indirectly does. I have a PhD in a scientific field where much of time is spent in the lab, which I guess one would say is "white collar". However, the only reason I got to this point was my family. My dad (auto mechanic) and my grandpa (coal miner) absolutely taught me the value of hard work, and supported me through choosing my path in life. Due to this, I will never take the "working man" for granted. Some of the smartest and most compassionate people I have met were farmers, mechanics, miners, ranchers, etc, and I will make sure my own kids understand that.

This song hits me right in my heart. My husband is military and we can relate to this so much. We've both worked 14+ hours a day before..sun up to sun down. Now he's gone for months at a time. It's hard but we have to keep going strong. Little ones have to be cared for and bills have to be paid. Keep your chins up and proud to be working men. Your family appreciates you. ❤

Shout out to the men and women who work more than 40. Shout out to the families that stand behind these men and women. I’m tired from work, but it ain’t like the tired you get from being hungry or broke. I know millions of people pray every night for a job that gets them overtime, well I pray that they get it. This is the greatest country in the world, and I hope to see everyone in it thrive.

Love this song. It's one of the few songs I will belt at the jobsite or in my garage at the house. I know my neighbors have got to hear me singing this. The other morning at work, I was the first one on the jobsite and was singing this rather loud, didn't hear the other contractors arrive, needless to say once I was done I got a round of applause. Being a rather quiet person at work, they were amazed I had the vocals that I do. This song has got to be one of my favorites, mainly because it's a tradesmans anthem.

Today is my birthday and I'm sitting on the job waiting for daylight. My son turns 18 in a few weeks and in 2 months he will start work with me as my assistant. I couldn't be more proud of that boy, but at the same time my heart aches. He is entered into manhood and will travel that long hard road that my father and I traveled. I hate to see him work so hard and 14 hour days, but I know he will be just fine. It's bitter sweet as a father. And to all, remember us common, blue collar workers is what makes America what it is. Let's keep our head up, and spirits high. I love this song

Just now found this song. Couldn’t have found it at a better time. Had a lot goin on lately. Lost almost everything I’ve scratched and clawed for now that I finally have it and start thinking everything’s gonna be okay, within a week I lose my house and wreck my dream vehicle that I’ve been patient for and worked my ass off for and that made me finally been genuinely happy about and honestly been giving up on everything and it’s started to affect my attendance, quality, and production to the point that they say even tho I’m one of the small handful of really good workers I’m on thin ice. It was a wake up call… for not even 2 days… I just can’t bring myself to care anymore no matter how hard I try. This is the first time I’ve not had not even a tiny bit of hope and/or believed the tiniest of bit that I’ll get outta this “rough patch” and that everything will be okay. This has happened to me multiple times now and it’s always at the same time and at the worst time it possibly could be. Even if I make it through this time I can promise right now on everything I love that I can not and will not be able to lose everything and start over again. I’m on fumes at this point. Idek why I’m saying this shit to anyone let alone a KZbin comment. Like it’ll help anything or anyone actually cares😂 well I already typed it out so guess I’ll post it anyways. Lesson learned: stay off my phone while I’m fickety fackety fucked up😂😂
