The problem with Zak George is he thinks he has shown hard dogs with his little series. I don’t think he understands the type of hard dogs that Haz and Larry and other legitimate trainers deal with.

All you have to do is look at Zak George's eyes to know the man is mentally unwell. But he just confidently has to keep shooting himself in the foot proving how unhinged he is, in case we had any doubts. I guess he thinks that will make us buy more Bark Boxes?

@@spaceman51974 "Dog Training" Influencer that has almost 4 million followers here on KZbin You'd think that would mean he's a great trainer, but really he only got to where he is by cutting business deals to appear on TV shows on Animal Planet talking about puppies and book deals with pet supply corporations like Petco and Petsmart. He considers himself to be a "positive reinforcement only" trainer, but he can't even do that right, or train his own personal dog right even though he has a pet line border collie, the most trainable breed there is.

I remember watching Zak George when I got my first dog. My puppy grew into a very large and stubborn shepherd mix. I turned to watching Zak George for guidance and my frustration and hopelessness grew off the charts. Zak offered zero value to me. I did not even have an aggressive dog. I had an overly confident, overly friendly, headstrong and physically strong dog. If positive only did not work for me and my dog, then I hate to think how many dogs would be written off if we all followed Zak George's ideology. The thing that did help me with my dog was watching and reading Cesar Millan. EXCERCISE-DISCIPLINE-AFFECTION. I absolutely love Larry's no nonsense approach! Thank you Haz for having him on. Thoroughly enjoyed this chat ❤ Please do more like this! 👏

Sounds like IGP is like preparing a pro symphony audition as a brass player. You have delicate high stuff, you have loud power stuff, short sprint power, long endurance stuff..in any order, you have to prepare for pieces to appear in any order whatsoever and “on the day” your chops, or lips have a certain set up, a certain amount of endurance, flexibility, ability at the extremes, so you have to make certain compromises in the moment to succeed at all of them. Playing a high delicate thing right after some long loud thing, it’s hard, but, on the job you’ll encounter every possible variation every day.

And even looking at it from the dog's perspective, if you get in a shower, feel warm water, get out and you do that everyday. Then, one day, you get in and the water is hot, then the fact that you spent all that time jumping out as soon as you felt water, absolutely makes it easier to know to jump out when the water's hot.

I think Cesar truly loves dogs, is gifted with something that the general public cannot quite comprehend or grasp and apply to themselves and their own dogs. DogDaddy is a mentally ill abusive dillweed with a long track record of horrific conditions, destroying people's properties, selling sick puppies. (started out as Guy's Labs, became Griffin Shepherd Kennels, Ultimate German Shepherds, has moved from place to place, leaving the same story in his wake.) Zak George is an average everyday dog owner that can train tricks to even tempered, biddable dogs. He has never shown the training with a truly serious case. He lives to stir controversy and wants everyone to look through his rainbow and gumdrop filter. He cannot accept the reality of nature.

Love it ! Love it! My 2 favorite trainers from KZbin! The real cool stuff! But let me admonish Larry a little for not training Pyrs anymore. Lol I understand the frustration as I’ve owned one for 7 years and the first couple of years were tough (I’m not the naturally patient type) I know it’s an almost impossible task dealing with average owners and a breed that demands more or at least a different approach for success and requires a kind of compromise or at least acknowledgement of what the breed is. But wow is it worth it ! They are incredible if you get that relationship where the dog really wants to cooperate. And such a high percentage get abandoned so just want to encourage Larry to maybe rethink his stance on not training them anymore. The key I think is getting the owners on board with they’re never going to have a malinois but after having a Pyr thats 100% with you you’re spoiled for any other dog precisely because it’s NOT really “trained”. Anyway hope you’ll change your mind some day and go back to helping les grand chien des montagne. Thanks for the awesome podcast

I love reading old Working Dog Forums because back in the late 2000s to early 2010s it was like all the literate people in one place. Dick and Selena Van Leeuwen, Stefan Schaub, Mike Suttle, etc. and younger folks like you when they were first getting started all in one place so you can learn a fair bit. It's really cool seeing you first starting out the. The video's no longer available, but I found this one convo started by you showing I guess your first dog's obedience and Stefan was basically constructively cyber bullying you and this one person was criticizing him for being so blunt and you said that you weren't fazed by it 'cause you were used to worse because you worked at a homeless shelter.
@idkmanidcman31588 ай бұрын
It's pretty cool 'cause now you're somewhat buddies with Stefan and I think that's kind of cool 'cause if you had lashed out at him back then he might not be commenting on your Facebook and such now

99% of ppl don’t get enough magnesium. It helps my neck relax, I have a bunch of hardware in there, fish oil helps too. Another excellent supplement is N-Acetylcysteine..it is an amino acid precursor to the liver making glutathione, which it uses to detox every thing the liver detoxifies.. (It’s what they give for Tylenol or acetaminophen poisoning, because the liver uses up its store and then that’s what causes the damage, when the liver runs out of NAC to use to make more glutathione..) It also has lung and ear benefits, and possibly helps the body resist viruses. It really helps resist the effects of alcohol when taken regularly.

In my opinion it's not about which system is better, for me the problem stems simply by regarding the pure-positive as a system itself when it should be considered an anomaly, purely delusional is what should be called, because nothing in life is pure-positive, that's an illusion!. In life we must face good times and tough times, and what makes us thrive and go through life is our ability to cope with aversives and difficult situations and not trying to simply avoid them in an attempt to enjoy a life where everything is beautiful and positive, that life only exists in the heads of delusional people like Zak George and alike. Life isn't all unicorns, fairy tales and rainbows, life is sometimes rough, cruel , unfair and we still have to keep on with it. It just cracks me up how these all positive zealots aren't able to understand something so simple, it's really easy, it doesn't take a degree in nuclear physics to get it. In my country there are animal rights groups campaigning not only to ban training tools, but anything that could feel aversive or uncomfortable for their "four -legged sons/daughters" -how they call their dogs-, there were viciously trying to ban the fireworks as well. Well, duh!, instead of trying to habituate the dog to live with it and get used to it, they strive to lock their dogs in a bubble. Good job!!!

I had never heard of Dog Daddy until youtube recommended a video where Zak is slating him. I watched it and thought ok he is using heavy leash pressure and corrections, but isnt doing anything outlandish. I watched a couple of DD's videos and thought ok he doesnt seem to be a great trainer, he is pretty much like many amateur trainers who learnt from watching Cesar Milan (who i respect). Now the problem with social media is that its not what you know or how good you are, its how you package and promote yourself. I was shocked to see he has over 3million subscribers. Its BS! 👗🕶️

My IGP dog I love a great deal. She lives in my house and sleeps in my bed. Nevertheless, she is treated species specific as a dog, and given the training and enrichment she enjoys. All I ask is 20-30 minutes of her undivided attention per day. For that she has the best of food, exercise, private healthcare and even the very finest private education. The rest of the time is hers. That's a pretty good deal. Every successful IGP trainer I know has their own trainer. You need a decoy to work with, you need someone educated to watch your training and pick up your mistakes, including your own posture and body language. You need a good physio and vet. Its very much a team sport.

Low level is only great for initially for things but I fail to see the value of low level “nics” to do anything other than desensitize them. Low level nics are really a great tool for micro aggressions at distance beteeen pack members. Timed correctly and they’re golden at quickly redirecting that bad energy that brews at time in the pack. Other than that it’s useless.

There’s a Malinois puppy mill here (SLC) that is pumping them out, apparently.
