Debt limit is a limit . It should prevent uncontrollable growth of debt that can ruin the economy and society long term . It is a safety measure .

everyone who needs to know that it is not 'the USA is defaulting' but instead is a political thing... surely already knows that by now. as for folks living hand to mouth, that doesn't sound right at all. any country where some folks are paying almost $3,000 a month on a mortgage or $2,000 to rent an apartment is not any country where anyone lives hand to foot. and very few Americans look like it either, if they had less money for junk food it would be a blessing.
