I can sympathize with some of the prisons Raphael has gone to, where the wardens and guards know and admit the systems they have are terrible, when they cant feed or rehab the prisoners, but cant do anything about it simply due to massive overcrowding and critical underfunding. What grinds my gears is prisons in countries that CAN afford to make a prison a better place but choose not to.

Man, doing time when you haven’t don’t the crime is a whole other level. I can’t even imagine. If someone even accuses me of something I didn’t do, I go crazy stewing over it. To actually be convicted and locked up when you’re innocent is unfathomable.

unfortunately, in this country they treat prisoners like animals. the way you teat people is the way you will be treated. The history of penitentiaries is that it was supposed to be a placed where you repented of what you did hence the word penitentiary, or the word penance comes from that. It is ashame how they treat these people throw them away and treat them like animals and then ask why do they riot or there are issues in a lot of these prisons. they need stop gangs and groups and other illegal things from happening, but how do we do that if even the guards and prison officials are in on it.

I had to quit being In Corrections. I was so good at my job that; an investigation was opened on me by the higher ups because of the respect I received from the inmates… because I respect myself and the inmates. Thinking I was bringing in contraband (never did)! So when I cussed out an inmate, if I was called out to “Fall In” I never back down. I earned my respect. Unless the inmate was a snitch. To my point; being a C.O fucks up your mental state.

Rafael is great. I don't know how staged is his show but at least the show reveals how little guverments tend to invest in rehabilitation and Redemption. The guverments would always rayse the walls hier, make the containment cells smaller and train the guards to be more ruthless but when it comes to hygien, to education, and to prisoners psychology and state of mind they will alvays say whe don't have enough money. I don't say that prisoners don't need to be punish but the society need to understand that someday the prisoner who got beaten, raped, traumatized, force to join gangs will go out without any money, without prospects becouse most employees would not hire a ex prisoner and most of them without education. Tge prisons should be clean, should be more spacious. The prisoners should have access to education, trade skills, proper and more conjucal visits and the most important things proper psychiatric treatment. I would say that a psychologists should be in a prison 24/24 365 day/year so If a prisoner is down to take his or another life he should be able to talk with a Profesional every time he vants

I love Larry's videos too, it's scared me straight lol I used to get in trouble fighting and drugs but I paid off my last £200 fine I got and I'll never get in trouble with the law again I hope :D

I'm also a criminology student at university, and I'd say Larry's _My Prison Fix_ and _Don't Defund the Police_ videos summarize his views pretty well on systemic errors in the policing and correctional system in the US. I know you didn't ask, but I'd also look at publications which analyze contemporary interventions to address systemic racism and police violence at a community level, then compare and contrast it with better practices elsewhere (e.g. community policing, Murri court, etc). Hey Larry just recently found you on KZbin I've watched all the chapters of your story and I just want to say wow a man that's took so much s*** and still humble wish I could talk to you one-on-one I got a story for you about my dad went to court in our small little town and the prosecuting attorney was out for him and my dad is in prison right now serving 8 years and let me remind you no evidence in court word vs. Word and got 8 years I did the first six days with him in jail cuz I stood up in the courtroom when they come back guilty on all charges I stood up and said your honor that is complete bs so I got 6 days for attempt of court also my dad has no criminal background whatsoever this is his first ever case in his life
