Side note: when he says “uncle's crazy” he is referring to himself because he adopted one of his daughters, Alaina, from his ex wife’s sister. Not sure how old she was when he adopted her but it’s safe to say their relationship started as Uncle-Niece.

Backstory. He truly is a great dad. His biological daughter is doing great. When she was in high school he would show up and watch from a distance when she won homecoming queen as to not take attention away from her. Also “uncle” in this song is talking about him as he adopted his niece. He also adopted his brother when it was legal to have full parental control over him. This man breathes family.

He is really great dad. I watched the video of Akon talking about working with him and akon said that Eminem always treat rapping is a job and he only work 9 to 5. After 5 he stright goes to home and spend the time with his daughters. This is shows the love he had for his daughters that even after being the GOAT of the music he put so much value for his family. Even on this, recently i saw an interview with 50 cent where he talks about persuading Eminem to do a world tour with Dre, Snoop etc. Eminem never bought the idea and rejected because he said “what if when we come back Hailie is grown.” 50 cent never knew what he meant until he attended Hailies wedding and realised how fast she grew. He really gave his kids the life he never had

"Kim" is an extremely hard song to listen to but there is no other way to explain what Hailie's mom put him through and how he felt about it. It makes these songs have another level of depth and meaning and importance in his overall catalog. But, again, its extremely jarring and the definition of his Slim Shady persona.

The list of songs in this mans discography that you're going to be recommended to listen to will be never-ending. He truly is a musical genius. The emotional songs are very, well emotional, and very relatable. If you ever get to the point of listening to his songs that aren't labeled as "emotional" you'll learn how intricate and how much of a lyricist he is, one of the greatest of all time. Double entendre, double meaning, couplets, quatrains, wordplay, punchlines.. I could go on. You could listen to a song 4 or 5 times and learn something new or gain a better understanding each playthrough. He is a legend. Great react videos. Appreciate you giving the genre a chance.

I'm a 67 year old woman and love Eminem's music. In fact he will go down in rap history as one of the best lyricalist, ever. His life was really hard growing up and rapping was a way to purge the pain. His life is in his music. Not all his songs are pretty and I've no doubt you would be offended by many. I suggest you watch his movie, 8 Mile. It's the story of his life and he plays himself. He's battled drug addict, domestic abuse, additive love and so much more. Yet, he has managed to win many of those battles and doesn't hold back his own truth and honestly in his lyrics. Another video you may want to review is "White America", agree or disagree, it's a powerful piece of art. My BFF hates rap and I've tried to explain it's not all trass talk, sex, money and swearing. Sadly, she just won't look past it to see that rap that speaks with such beautiful poetry, heart and truth. Her loss, my gain.... Thank you for stepping out of your comfort zone, such a gift isn't it. ❤️❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏👏👏 Yes, this is about his family and children. I saw in another post the video about his mother, watch it. His life, even with all his success, has been really hard.

I am loving your reactions to Eminem. I came here from the 'When I'm gone' reaction. You had me crying with you there lol. When Eminem speaks about uncle being crazy he is referring to himself and speaking to Alaina (Lanie) who is his neice that he adopted because his wife's sister was unable to care for her. He also adopted his own younger step brother becasue his mother was unable to care for him too. Eminem gets a bad wrap due to some of the things he may say on record and people's presumptions of him but even with all his demons he has a good heart and he's given so much of himself to his fans. One of the things I’ve always liked about Eminem is the blatant honesty in his storytelling. You can literally piece his personal journey together with his albums. Everything that goes on in the human mind from thought provoking revelations about one’s self, to the deepest depravities of our ego and rage. I think you’d really enjoy Not Afraid (a take on his drug recovery), No Love (lyrical poetry proving he truly is the GOAT), and Headlights (exploring the complicated relationship between he and his mother) for more autobiographic takes on his personal experience and are still relatively easy on the ears for the uninitiated 😏 And two of my personal favorites are Love the way you lie and Kill for You. They’re not autobiographical but still honest looks at dysfunctional and toxic relationships. Enjoy your journey 😊

When you have been a fan of Em for a very long time, you realize that so much of his work is all autobiographical..Sing for the Moment, talks about being abandoned by his father, and trying to give hope to kids who are struggling in life like he did...He is so multi-faceted..his early stuff was fascinating because he had developed characters like "Stan" the obsessed fan, or Slim Shady (the bad boy Eminem)..You made a comment about not liking Gangster rap..One of many, many reasons, other rappers have so much respect for him, other than his talent surpasses most rappers on a multitude of levels, is that "He stays in his own lane"..He doesnt try and come off like a gangster...he knows that he would sound phony..but he sings his own stories..besides the topics, he can rap on three different levels at once..He's just a genius...you actually can't say enough about this guy's talent...

He fought so hard to give his children a life he didn’t have. If you read into Eminem’s past the perseverance he has shown and fight he’s had is really impressive. He has one biological daughter, took on a niece (Kims sisters I believe who passed in a drug over dose). Also took on Kim’s daughter from a previous relationship as well. He also took on his little brother Nate because his mom was unstable. His uncle Ronnie passed away when he was young I believe to suicide and he’s the one that introduced Eminem to rap as an escape from the munchausen by proxy he suffered from his mother and living just a rough life. Also him and Kim married and divorced twice. They worked out the co-parent life as they grew but it was a turbulent relationship. He’s never married anyone else or had kids with anyone else. I feel like they loved each other just couldn’t work it out and have a healthy relationship together. That’s why in the closer to last clip all but his face is blurred out.

Eminem is an amazing father. My dad listens to his music sometimes. My dad lived a "not really" but "similar" life when raising his 3 sons as a single father. I think in some way, my dad understands Eminem on a deeper level then I do. My dad was also born 2 weeks after Eminem and would had been in the same graduation class. Both initially from Missouri. But Eminem moved when he was a kid from Kansas City, Missouri to Detroit, Michigan. So its soo weird to think Hailie is about my age when I only knew her as a kid in his videos And seeing those music videos by Eminem as a teen. But when Hailie graduated (This is what I was trying to get to before going on a rabbit trail) Eminem attended her graduation. But not with the other people as he would had taken the spotlight. Eminem had sat in a separate room with a glass window to watch it happen. While still giving all the spotlight to his daughter Hailie. Eminem also had Hailie as a "co-writer" on his music albums. So when she had grew up, she already had writer credits to song tracks in her name. Seeing Eminem like this, reminds me of a lot of my dad. I guess that's where the rabbit trail was heading, their similarities.

Eminems story is extremely deep. No way you can get enough out of a couple videos to understand it all. You should really do some research and you will have an even deeper appreciation for his music. Hey Larry, I've really have enjoyed your Eminem reaction videos. Its fun to see this music through fresh eyes, and I think it's cool how open minded you have been. I think your son has done a great job showing you this side of Eminem. I hope you enjoy where this journey takes you. Em has a very deep catalogue of music to draw from. There's some good suggestions for you already in these comments, but if I can throw my hat in the ring, it would be fun to see your reaction to these videos, in order: Rock Bottom, The Way I Am, Cleanin Out My Closet, Say Goodbye to Hollywood, Sing For the Moment, Hailie's Song, Like Toy Soldiers, Deja Vu, Beautiful, Going Through Changes, Not Afraid, You're Never Over, Headlights, Castle, and Arose. These are all songs that are more "real", and will tell an abbreviated version of his life. Going from nothing, struggling with newfound stardom, issues with his mom, his relationship with his fans and daughter, the violence of the rap game, his struggles with prescription medication and depression, and more. I'd also like to see your reaction to some of his more technical songs, like Godzilla. Eminem is a perfect rapper. He can do anything. Lyrically he's unparalleled, he can tell a story or write an anthem, he can get you to laugh or cry. He's a master of the double entendres, and even has some Triples and quadruples. He is the fastest rapper alive, he literally holds the record (and broke his own record to do it). He can rap on any beat, with any cadence, and make it all flow. He bends words to make them rhyme. Theres some other KZbin videos that illustrate his rhyme schemes if you're interested.

Eminem has always been very candid about his personal life through his music. This song outlines the fact that he’s a good father and is fiercely protective of his daughters. This is a stark contrast from the way he was parented when he was growing up. His father left and he’s had a very strained relationship with his mom. This chapter is outlined in his song, cleaning out my closet. After and only after you react to this song, should you then listen to the song Headlights.

The song is all about him and his ex wife Kim's relationship at that time and how it affected everyone in the family. Eminem always tells his own stories the good, the bad and the ugly and this is why Eminem is so popular with fans and unpopular with other rappers, as they seem to want to glorify their exploits rather than keep it real like Eminem does. I don't see him as a rapper so much but as more of a poet/storyteller because he's not afraid to lay everything out for people to see. Cleaning Out My Closet is a good one about his relationship with his mum.

He's the GOAT, no doubt in my mind. However, some of his content (especially when he's Slim Shady) is rough and damn near NC-17. If your son gets you going down the correct path, you will get to appreciate a lyrical genius. His storytelling is great, but his wordplay, flows and tenacious honesty is why he's widely considered the best MC to ever touch a mic. Love your shit my friend and I love that your son is helping you on this journey. He is a master storyteller and lyricist. He speaks from the heart and is fiercely protective of his kids (Hallie is this biological daughter, Alaina and Stevie are his adopted children). His and his ex Kim's lives were hard and she was arrested for drugs and was rushed to a hospital for attempted suicide. Their relationship was tumultuous. The lyrics in his songs about her were a big contention in thier relationship. I feel they both still struggle with the realities of their lives, fame does not make one's life better, necessarily, due to the struggles created in the lives before the fame and wealth. I am mid 50's and Eminem is one of my favorite artists (along with NF) due to the realness portrayed in their lyrics...they speak from what they know, the speak the realities and truths of so many struggling in this world. Side Note: When he says Mommy throughout this song he is referring to his ex Kim..Kim put his name on a present under the tree for the kids. This song is a story he is telling to Lanney (Alaina - his adopted daughter) and Hailey (his biological daughter) so Mommy and Daddy throughout the entire song is himself and Kim his ex. He does this in many of his songs to his kids.
