Back when this released I was still a kid. But after listening to this again and being a father it hits different. As a Wildland Firefighter, I was pretty much never home and my daughter would do the same things to keep me from going. I was always focusing on putting food on the table. Last call I was on, had a tree fall on me and in the second I realized what was happening all the memories of her trying to keep me home flashed through my head and I regretted everything. I knew I was going to die, and I knew I wasn't going to be able to see her again. Pronounced dead on 11/22/20 at 0522 and I was gone for 6 minutes and 27 seconds. Don't know how but my heart started beating again. Woke up a little over 2 weeks later and have tried everything I can to be a good dad since. Life is short, and you can't take anything for granted because it can end in a second.

I came across this video randomly. It turned into the best reaction video of my favorite artist I’ve ever seen. I’ve heard this song 1000 times. But this song like so many others, I’ve listened to but never let it in. Watching you let this song in made me let the song in. Now having a four year old daughter, it is though I heard and felt this song for the first time. I give you so much respect for admitting you Had hip pegged all wrong, and that this song single-handedly changed your mind about the music. You won’t find that in any other reaction video anywhere else. Much love.

As, a teenage daughter that has had her dad in and out of her life since she was young, this song hits hard. My dad has always played Eminem growing up, especially in the car and everytime he would say this song reminds him of me. Since me and my dad do have a complicated relationship, I relate to the fact in the lyrics that Eminem's daughter, Hallie, didn't want him to go. I've felt that way many times not wanting my father to go, and be out of my life. And some of the time it can be hard without my father but I still listen to this song whenever I miss him or want him to be around. I'm sure many girls or women in their life feel that same way too.

Now turning 36 this year, my son turning 2 soon, and married to my lovely English speaker wife I am finally getting all of what this song means. I am trying to remember myself of that meaning every couple of weeks by listening to it and watching your reaction to it, in my opinion the best and most genuine reaction to this song on KZbin. Thats the thing about eminem he got so much bad press when he first came out because of his "bad" words. I mean they literally protested his concerts, tried to ban him everywhere and blamed him for things people were doing because of his song content. But the guys slim shady persona was just that a persona, something to get him noticed and to express thoughts that polite society would not normally allow. The guy however is a genius, very good at what he does and has tons of songs people can relate to. Its modern poetry and should be cherished for the art form it is.

This is absolutely one of the all-time great songs in rap history. Very little people have the ability to really tell a story and make it connect the way Eminem does, whether it's through extremely technical word-play, or just emotionally connecting with you in ways that you do not expect. There's a reason why many of the greats call him the greatest. He completely transcends hip-hop and just is completely in a league of his own. He mentioned in interviews that being a father and getting clean was the reason he walked away from his music career for about 5 years, around 2004-2005. For all the troubles the man has had in life with substances, his relationship with his ex-wife, Kim, and struggles with juggling between his real life and the public persona he had back then (much of which was merely for "shock" value), the man has always known where his priority lies, with his kids-especially his daughter, Hailie. And it's also telling that despite calling Marshall a "bad husband", Kim mentioned that she had zero issues giving him full-custody because he was an "amazing father."

Really makes you think about how you are with your own family. Edit: I kept thinking about this video long after I made my first comment. The one thing that kept playing over and over in my mind, was where she tossed the coin onto the stage and walked away. I guess that really got to me!

This song hits me so hard, I have a daughter but I'm a pill addict too and when I don't take them I take seizures. I gave my daughter to my sister when she was 3yrs old so she could look after her, I thought I was making a grown up decision because I've seen addicts look after their kids and they turn out either the same or end up in a home. I only see my daughter at xmas now, I used to see her everyday but I had to move away from my families area and the past 5 yrs I've seen her 5 times face to face. When he says "I didn't feel a thing" It's so true, pills just take you out of this world, you're only concerned in numbing your feelings.
