I’m from the U ,K a long time ago there was a radio presenter called Terry Wogan who was the first over here to play Eva’s Over The Rainbow. Her version became so popular that people requested he played more of her music,He was Irish with a wonderful since o f humer . He became a big chat show host and interviewed many big stars including lots of Americans, I wasn’t into early morning breakfast shows but after hearing Eva ‘s music i became a big fan , as did my husband so when my husband died Ave’s over the rainbow was played at his funeral , I have already told everyone in my family that Fields of. Gold. Must be played at mine as beautiful as the other singers are they cannot put the pure feelings into those songs the way she did ,Even Sting himself said her version was better than his and how can you argue with that.

Angelina is certainly a pro in her own right, but Eva is more convincing, natural and mature...genuinely pure. I almost resent it being presented as a duet...it isn't. But, I'm sure I'm part of the minority in that opinion.

Prior to Angelina, Eva was THE artist to me that I literally would play on repeet over and over, and she did to me what Angelina also does to me these days. (To see them both in BigAngieFan`s mash-up, really took my breath away.) With Angelina there is also added the amazement dimension of her being so young. That she`s still abel to put me into these amazingly beautyful places, make the emotional side of it even stronger. Eva, who I discovered as she just passed, is still enriching my life with her gorgeous music (I had to get hold of every one of the albums from her) and she never fails to bring sparkling light to my day. Angelina is the one that I think will bring such splendid new moments to my days ahead. These two will forever be on the top of my list. Will there be others like them in my days? I have a hard time imagine that.

Thanks for reacting to my mashup! This was done using a TikTok video by Angelina Jordan (along with Eva’s complete recording), which was not the whole song, so there were some editing challenges! And that’s why they aren’t completely in sync when singing together; Angelina was just doing her own version and not trying to duet with Eva. Let's be serious; nothing that Angelina Jordan put out is only done with a smart phone since she signed with Republic Records, it is made to look like she is only using a smart phone. There is no smart phone in the industry that will give you the quality, and fidelity on a performance like "Crazy" that just came out. Angelina is the finest vocalist I have ever experience in my 74 years and she is using the best equipment available for Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, and KZbin. Her production company, STARGATE, would not allow a sub-par recording to be dropped on any site, and if it were recorded with a smart phone that is what it would be. When bigangiefan put this together he had some problems syncing the duet portion, so the sound is a little off

Blues in the Night could be your next song for a different style from Eva.... Eva had the ability to WOW listeners in so many ways, soft and so very sweet , to powerful vocals that lift you to the heights of emotion. Thanks for playing my suggestion. This mashup was created by an Angelina fan, and I'm not sure she even knew about it. I discovered Eva (long e) not long after her death in 1996. I was and still am in awe of her voice, but also her ability to take a classic song and rearrange it into something better (IMO). I have a collection of her singing about 20 of my favorites (she only did covers), and this is one of them. Angelina did a quick version of this song on TikTok, which is why she was only patched in the duet for the part she had covered. I'm not even sure she knows who Eva Cassidy is, but with her extensive knowledge of music history, she probably does. When she covered "Over the Rainbow", she did the traditional version instead of Eva's version. Same with "Autumn Leaves". That made me wonder at the time if Angelina knew Eva's versions, which I believe are much better. Yes, they didn't actually sing a duet. 😂😂 Since Eva passed in 1996 and Angelina was born 10 years later it would have been difficult to arrange. This is a really good mash-up though. Eva was one of those singers who really tug at your emotions and I love listening to her. Her guitar skills are brilliant and perfectly match her vocals. Angelina is an amazing talent but she is no Eva Cassidy - People speak of Angelina's versatility which she does have but there's never been a more versatile singer than Eva - This arrangement is totally Eva's - This particular joint recording is somewhat hard to compare the two voices - the subtle phasing of Eva in this song is not evident because of the overlay of their voices and the sudden change in Eva's dynamics in this song are not displayed - There's never been anyone that could sing prettier than Eva but that's not what separated her from others - It's her ability to sing any genre of any song better than the best of that genre - Eva was mostly noted as a Jazz singer but she was equally gifted in Blues , Gospel , Folk , Country or standard ballads - Her range , tone , breath control and perfect pitch were other worldly - To gain a full appreciation of this lady you just have to listen to her different styles because she was the GOAT

Just two things to bear in mind. Eva Cassidy recorded this in 1996, at the age of 32/33, and it was professionally mastered. Angelina recorded it on TikTok (the channel she uses for experimenting with her voice) and it was recorded on a mobile phone. So, Angelina has another 17 years to meet your criteria, and I have no doubt that she will surpass it. Of course, my opinion is as subjective as yours, and it can be no other way.

And she’s just a kid only recently a teenager growing up, yet so many people think she’s amazing. My wife thinks we’re creepy for being so enthralled by this young girl. I like to watch every Saturday Alan (something, can’t remember name right now) has and does an AJ channel where he goes into a specific song and it’s history and the performers that did it, he ends with AJ doing the song. Hello Chris. Thanks for doing another Angelina reaction so quickly :-) This mash-up (not the greatest mash-up ever tbh) made for a longer video in total, as Angelina's original from TikTok is only 1 min 24 seconds, but it's a performance that is best experienced as a stand-alone I think. Like I wrote to one of the commenters here, we should consider the fact that what you hear from Angelina here is the result of a TikTok recording to her cell phone, whereas the Eva Cassidy is the full-blown studio recording, with all its post production. And I don't say that to diminish Eva's performance in ANY way, as she ranks VERY high on my female singers list :-) I believe she died from skin cancer (melanoma) at the age of 33. Such a tragic loss ! It seems like Angelina is somewhat of a late-stayer, as most of her TikTok snippets and IG snippets are recorded between 3am and 5am in the morning. Or maybe she's a REAL early morning bird ? LOL. We say it's not a comparison, yet we compare. So here's my opinion. Eva has a SINGULAR clear voice. It would seem to make her version better, yet l felt more from Angelina's snippet. Angelina in my opinion is superior, even at this tender age...lmo. My opinion is based on my preference, as an example, of Sarah Vaughn over Maria Callas. Amy Winehouse over Witney Houston. My personal tastes are mostly, rooted in jazz. With all respect, Eva didn't move me like Angelina.

Hello Larry, I am a new subscriber to your channel, who wants to say "thanks" to the balance you provide between "theory" and "practice" (as I have neither) that goes way beyond just appreciating the song itself. However, it is also your intuitive artistic nature combined with the prior qualities mentioned, that results in your natural, and "in real-time" emotional responses that make your channel so enjoyable to watch! Just keep on being you! I was also glad that you had the opportunity to listen to the "Fields of Gold" with both Eva and Angelina, as I was only familiar with Eva and not Angelina, which only reflects poorly on me. However, I will be seeking out more of her music because I love the slight smokey quality to her voice. From what I gather by the posts, this was not something Angelina created but one of her fans (BigAngieFan...and it is not hard to see why!) that was posted on Tik Tok? If so, I might be in the smaller camp here, but I think I would have enjoyed the music and the visuals much more if they had been separate but that is probably more of a reflection of my own expectations as to how I thought the video was going to happen. I just found it too distracting because I actually wanted to hear more of Angelina, because I was so unfamiliar with her. I am not on Tik Tok, but I will search out Angelina's recording as I would really love to hear her sing the entire song! I love both of their voices but Angelina is so talented for her age. It will be exciting to hear her in the future as her voice continues to mature, as is the case with Eva who had such a depth of tonal quality and maturity of exceptional voice control already at the time of recording. To me, it also sounded as if Angelina was familiar already with Eva's recording as well. There were just so many similarities but still some slight yet, distinct differences. I am bothered by this . I feel like Eva's music is having a wave of recognition right now and that Angelina is capitalizing on her. Every note Angelina was singing was Eva's in her original which is much better on its own. It seems disrespectful to take anything away from Eva, especially since she passed away. I was an enormous fan of Angelina when she was young, but as soon as Hollywood took over her career, she doesn't look or act like the same natural and humble person she was. She is a very gifted singer but I am losing interest in her due to her new persona. Eva is singing here as a 33 year old women with all the life experiences living those years brings. This is what she draws upon to deliver all that emotion and soul. Angelina is so young that she has not yet built that reservoir of experiences and so I don't feel her singing as strongly as I do Eva's. I disagree. Eva is vocal royalty and for me, she is one of the greatest singers of all time. But her voice is more bright and clear than Angelina's. For me, Angelina's is darker and warmer, which is why she is able to connect emotionally with the lyrics, and deliver so much emotion to the listener. But I love both their voices.

Angelina did a quickie on TikTok recorded on a cell phone; Eva performed at the Blues Alley club in D.C. with professional recording equipment. All that given, I know you realize this still is not some sort of competition. I'm not sure there will ever be another voice like Eva Cassidy, and her premature death is a tremendous loss to music. But Angelina has her professional career in front of her, and hopefully, it will be long and very successful.

Do pay attention to the rhyme scheme he has got the same rhyme scheme in the whole song and not a lot of artists can do that. He does have a few other songs where he has the same rhyme scheme like 'till I collapse'. You need to react to that as well.
