Bro I had the same issue Terry had where I would flare out my elbows didn't even notice it and i would get shoulder pain all the time and then I recently started to tuck my elbows in and I was in amused just like him just from tucking in the elbows it's a game changer and I actually felt my pecks working

I don't have any shoulder issues (can go deep in dips), but I will try to see if this allows my muscles to work better. I feel stronger now than when I did 20kg more on the bench press, and I don't understand why.

This is peak gym culture at display. Zero ego, pure encouragement. Both willing to always learn even though they know A LOT. I may not know either of them personally but i just have a feeling that if a newbie approached either of them off camera...they would take their sweet time explaining anything that the beginner would ask.

At 58:00 Larry starts talking about armwrestling. I'm sure a lot of us have missed the armwrestling content and would love to have you come back, but I understand feeling squeamish about the arm break, especially after being on the opposite end of it. But Terry's words are important as well. Don't let that stop you from greatness. It's a sport, and sometimes that's the cost. If it happens, it happens and you can't change it. What matters is how you move forward.

I'm a bit embarrased, I've been lifting for 25 years...hit 40 last year and have always feared tearing a pec despite THINKING my form was always solid...WRONG. Normally I use dumbells for pressing to keep my elbows tucked, but I was being impatient one day and decided to warm up on smith machine bench. Terrible decision because it's harder to position the weight and tuck elbows the same as free weights and ended up tearing my pec right as I started lowering 225. I'm 10 months post surgery, lifting consistently again and extremely aware of my elbows for pressing. This video really helped me visualize what I need to be shooting for, thanks Larry!

Your ancestors didn't run on pavement; which is terrible for your health.

@@BlGGESTBROTHER agreed .. I think it best to run cross country or uphill where the range of motion is shorter

@@BlGGESTBROTHERyeah true. A treadmill is already way better because it's a way softer underground.

This is one of the best video I've seen with Larry because of the great pointers he gave. I haven't benched in years but I want to start benching because of this video with the new pointers. Thanks bro.

Terry has been bench pressing before Larry was born and he’s still being very modest and respectful while listening to what Larry has to say. But let’s be honest, Terry is doing this more to help the viewers learn then himself 💪

Larry benches over 600 pounds in competition doesn’t matter what age you are, when a 600 pound bench presser talks you listen, Terry crews knows this, he’s smart and humble and now he won’t get as injured

My shoulder started to really hurt a lot a year ago and I always benched the way Terry did. So I decided to relearn how to bench too. Which meant dropping the weight a lot, and basically starting back over with next to nothing, increasing the reps, and learning how to bench all over again. My shoulder is getting better. It's not 100%, but it's getting there. Also feel like your front delts come more into play benching the correct way, kind of made me realize my front delts were under developed. I'm 53 and my goal isn't to be big and muscular anymore, it's just to be fit and enjoy exercising for the rest of my life.
