Every Dillinger album with Greg has at least one 'pop' song on it and, frankly, it's fucking great! These guys are ridiculously talented, like, more talented than any human could ever possibly need to be and by occasionally crafting these more musically standard songs (milk lizard, unretrofied, black bubblegum etc.) they're just further proving it! Creating their insane, unhinged-yet-fucking-tight music is one thing but having the talent to make catchy, hooky 'pop' songs too?! Genius! xx
@DJENTISNTNOTAGENRE2 жыл бұрын
One of my favorite examples is Black Bubblegum. You hear a song like that and then realize this is the same band who wrote 43% Burnt. It's shame they're no longer together, but I think they made the right move ending it with a damn near flawless discography to carry on their legacy.

Actually, if you listen to alot of the vocal phrasing on Master/Justice you can hear the root of that influence.. Chris also basically decided to play drums from the latter of those two.

@PhillyKidWhatUDo Well if that's the case, pretty much every band can be labeled as being "scene", since every genre can be described as being part of "the scene". The southern California punk scene, the British new wave scene, the Seattle grunge scene, etc. Doesn't mean these bands will ever be classified as being "scene bands". Especially when the definition of scene today is the aforementioned skinny-jeans, dyed black/straightened hair and autotuned vox.
@davethehostage14 жыл бұрын
Reading the comments...did I actually just read someone describe Dillinger fans as "scene kids"? I have never in my life, whilst going to schools practically overrun by scene kids, met a scene Dilinger fan. Scene kids aren't comfortable with anything lacking in breakdowns and autotuned vocals.
@yrureadingthisname14 жыл бұрын
What's funny is that Lars does not have the musical talent to play one song by Dillinger. Watching Lars attempt to play 43% Burnt would be the funniest thing. It would be easier for him to calculate infinity.

@MMM88X Mate Metallica should be opening for Dillinger. Sorry but Metallica are old hands and music has moved on. Influential, yes. Still the best? No. Metallica doesn't hold a candle to some of the creative modern bands that stand on their shoulders. Pay tribute to the old legends, for sure. But their time is past. Let the new bands take up the legacy, new bands with as much if not more to offer.

hey look Metallica inspired dillinger. theyre both great bands who have (at least at some points in their careers) done something new. That cannot be said for trivium or bullet for my valentine or avenged svenfold, who are all talented, but are not doing anything new, theyre simply replicating the works of other bands

Metallica gives respect to other bands, they don't say "Fuck this band and listen to us" They're grown adults not 21 anymore. And yes they have been talking about modern thrash bands like Exile, or their old friends Selptura making new shit. Don't be so ignorant about bands, and fuck Racer X they're too repetitive Cacophony is twice as better because they expose more talent in their music, and not the same shit like you want it to be.
learn to spell before you try to rip on a band. Oh and The almighty D? Tenacious D?

LMAO, thats even more ignorant. You think that people would like a band that plays nothing but thrash that only shows what they CAN play and nothing else? Its all repetitive Slayer barely gets and fame as much as Megadeth does. You can't become a poser by changing your sound, no one gives a fuck what you like from that band it doesn't change who they are. Metallica is talented in so many ways and they should use their talents instead of playing the same shit over and over again.
