7.08 is bang on! it runs from bottom mid screen exits right for 2/3 frames! Thanks for this very interesting wildlife episode! Chet, as is pointed out in other comments, modern tile HAS to be buried in gravel. It enables the tile to leach out the water from up and down, so makes for a better drain! Thanks for the hi tech camera and finder tech too. From UK.

Burying in gravel is great for a few feet but if you are putting in tens of thousands of feet not so doable.

Thanks to Randy and Dougo and Chet for a very informative and interesting and entertaining video on tiling projects. Wow. How destructive these g gophers can be- - wow. Wow. Really like that machine you have to look into the tile. That is a must have machine. Better get one of those. Gives you the great picture of the inside of the tile line. Neat. Get one on order. Oh my. Not cheap I bet. Working on tile lines is hard work. You all are doing a great job. Those gophers are hard to get rid of. Thanks for sharing all of the tiling projects with us. Was most interesting. You all take care. The Iowa farm boy. Steve Get rid of. Keep at It and hopefully you can get him to the Good to see Randy in the videos. Like his sense of humor.

We pattern tiled one of our fields with plastic tile 20 or 30 years ago. It originally had the low spots tiled with clay. Where ever we crossed the old clay the field mice in our area nested in it and chewed holes in the plastic to get water. Needless to say, we fixed about 10 to 15 blow holes per year in that field for the next 5 years. So I feel your pain. Good luck.

We use to have woodchucks, skunks abs raccoons get into the 6 and 8 inch irrigation pipes. A shotgun was the best way to clear the pipes. We laid so much of that pipe every spring and then picked it up again each fall.
@jkmcp45Ай бұрын
You fellas need to invest in a 3/4-1 inch jetter they can pull over 500-1000feet of jetter and they meaning the jetter will evict anything in your tile lines usually you get a skin with a head we have wood and rock chuck woods do the most damage but the jet system has changed how much re digging or ploughing we do we never use single wall it seems to be a less expensive but doesn’t last
@rayanderson4119Ай бұрын
People have no idea how much different a pocket gopher is from a striped gopher. The mounds of dirt can get ridiculous, especially if they invade your lawn. Hope you get the varmint. Ray from Dawson.
@P_Rund1952Ай бұрын
Fixing tile is a constant part of being a landowner. I see our latest tile work every time I look out the kitchen window, pattern tiling 4" every 30' to drain a couple of annoying wet spots. We do not have the problem with gophers in the tile, hope we never do. The way our weather has been going the past several years makes me wonder if the money should be put into irrigation rather than drainage, our tiles have rarely had water lately. (WC IN)
@frosty8563Ай бұрын
Man it would have been great to see Randy and Dougo chase that gopher. Enjoyed seeing Dougo and Randy getting er dun !!
@drslick7Ай бұрын
Have you guys ever tried stone pockets on your tiles where you think there might be a dirt blockage? Dig down and expose the tile maybe 3 or 4 ft wide hole around it and then just fill the whole back completely with 3/4 clear stone. It acts like a Venturi funnel from the sky right down to the tile and kind of gives it a natural water blast gently clearing any blockage. We do it frequently on our farm and it pretty well keeps all of our tile maintained and clear

Dougo to the gobher: "I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for winter nest, I can tell you I don't have no more tile pipes for you. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my tile pipes go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will feed you some pellets." ;) Dougo the John Wick of excavator drivers

@pede1958Ай бұрын
They called it a string line and it was on targets, had a guide on the machine that the operator watched and adjusted depth. In the early days plastic wasn't very good and did crush easy, certainteed was bad. You don't need rock around the tile but the inlets would benefit with washed river rock.

Dougo, I don't know if this works for gophers, but in prairie dog towns, you pour a cup of gasoline into each hole and throw a shovel of dirt into it to plug it. The tunnels are all inter-connected. At the last one, you toss a match into the hole and quickly plug with dirt. It will consume all of the oxygen, and they will suffocate.
@colorado1088Ай бұрын
I've seen where farmers put a small engine near the hole and run an exhaust hose in the hole for an hour.
@markbowling3475Ай бұрын

I farm here in the eastern part of Washington state. We deal with pocket gophers all the time. There are traps for pocket gophers that really well and they use no bate. You open the gophers run and place a trap at the opening the gophers do not like an opening in their run and will push soil ahead of them to close the opening that is what triggers the trap. I am talking about "pocket gophers " (not moles a different animal ) almost all ag stores sell them! Mole traps will not work on pocket gophers. Give them a try! Digging up the farm is a waste of time to solve your problem. LyleBrandt
