Yes the sit-down Street fighter 2's used to be on the ground floor right at the back, they had SF2 champion edition and Hyper fighting. I remember that tall manager always walked around and if any machine wasn't working they would fix it and give you some free credits. I'm sure I've got some camcorder footage of Inside as I used to film my friends SF2 battles. My Moroccan mate would take on most challengers and send them on their way. I used to work in boots piccadilly circus so I was in there most of the time. Great memories.

Was a regular there back in the 80s and 90s. Upstairs was where all the arcade action was, Gauntlet, Tetris, Raiden, 3 Wonders, a row of fighting games at the back, later they had a Daytona USA by the door that I spent all my money on. Downstairs were pool tables and I never went down there. Towards the noughties the internet became popular, EasyEverything opened 24/7, arcades became secondary places to visit and there was MAME to play whatever arcade game you wanted, what a revelation that was.

Thanks for checking out the video! Its all fruit machines and betting terminals upstairs, i was going to pop my head in but everyone looked super sad in there so didnt bother. That sounds like a killer lineup of cabinets and im so glad the video prompted such cool memories, its been so much fun hearing about the different eras of Las Vegas. The internet, mame and xbox live killed arcades in a big way, so its so nice to find places still open and some even thriving. Thanks again for checking it out!

Considering how many arcades we had in London, there isn't many left now. Greatest loss was when either the Trocadero (Picadilly Circus) closed down, or Namco's (was in the old GLC builiding on the South Bank). Trying to find a pool table is almost as bad now too. ;-)

Thanks for checking out the video! The Trocadero was my favourite arcade - they had all the versus city cabinets, which did go to the heart of gaming, but sadly they had to sell during the epidemic. I can remember playing time killers in there and being amazed at how violent it was as a kid!

Used to go here every night after work on the walk down to Charing Cross from Oxford Street, from the late 80's. So many memories, played the first ever Street Fighter (with the big pads that used to give you blisters), R-Type, Salamander, Pit Fighter, Mortal Combat, Tekken and Bubble Bobble to name but a few, and put too much money in the Bar X fruit machines. All used to be upstairs back then and was just video games and fruities. Happy days!

What happened to the Namco Wonderpark? I think it moved to the Tracadero but I used to turn up, put my 50p down and wait my turn to play Tekken 3. They would have a preproduction cabinet there. fun times.

Thanks for checking out the video! I do remember Sega world (im sure it was called that!) at the trocadero - maybe that was originally the Namco Wonderpark? I distinctly remember playing timekillers there and nearly falling over with glee after cutting someones arm off! I do know the vs cabinets ended up at the heart of gaming, but speaking to mark on my visit, he sold them on during covid. All these memories everyone are sharing have me really nostalgic - im so pleased everyone is sharing!! Cheers mate!
@SonixSquadАй бұрын
@@DansOutandAbout Always nostalgic talking about arcades. Consoles killed em off. I bought my first and only psx purely because of the money I would save from visiting the arcade to play Tekken. Never occurred to me then that the feeling of clashing some complete random players in an arcade with a crowd watching could not be replaced, not even by online more recent versions.
@DansOutandAboutАй бұрын
@@SonixSquad thats so true. Online just doesnt cut it for fighters for me. The atmosphere of an arcade in the late 90s / early 2000s just cant be replaced

The original Namco Wonderpark was off Shaftesbury Avenue near Trocadero. Later Namco had another arcade called Namco Funscape in Southbank, which apparently wasn't as good. Trocadero became a SegaWorld for a few years then reverted to independent again.
