@@integr8er66 if earth we a sphere (it squashes and stretches). Also on the earth I suppose implies it has to fit on the planet, earth isn’t on itself. You could argue though how tolerant you are of imperfections for something to be considered a sphere. There is a video about the smoothest sphere on the planet, and it’s just a little ball, buy if you scaled it to the size of the earth the tallest mountain would only be a few feet tall. I bet you if you did the same with this structure it wouldn’t be nearly as smooth.

@Doesn't Jump to conclusions as I said to the other guy, the earth isn’t (technically) a sphere at all. It’s an “oblate spheroid.” Again, you can argue what tolerances you allow an object to have to be considered a sphere, but that is getting a bit too semantical probably.

Seeing as the floor is at a 40 degree angle it's a planetarium built on an extreme slope 😜 If it had a flat floor that could be converted into seating then it would make a perfect 360 degree planetarium but with the seating being a permanent fixture you will always be forced to look in the same direction so it's just a theatre that will have incredible peripherals.

That was back in 1992 when Star Trek had a large enough fan base to consider building a 150 millon dollar replica. The funny thing is this project was under consideration and commissioned for nearly 10 years before it was scrapped. Mainly due to the shows ratings dropping after the 90's. Star Trek was eventually canceled in 2,005. In other words, Star Trek became irrelevant.

The pool I use in Sydney (so far less sun than Vegas), which includes heated pools, heavily heated spa and sauna, gym equipment & more has solar panels on it's roof & it's producing ALL the power it needs for all of that, PLUS feeding into the grid, so if this was regular shaped & used LED & other efficient tech, it should be able to be self sufficient in power, not sure how the shape impacts it, might be higher, might be lower, but no reason it couldn't aim to be power self sufficient as a role model building

@@jonnydoe1170 I'm a 70 yr old former journeyman carpenter...I've been retired for 5 or 6 yrs but do plenty of projects for myself and friends....My specialty for 30+ yrs was house renovation. I was always bragging that I chose renovation cuz all the young carpenters don't know how things went together in the past and therefore, they don't know how to change things around withour total destruction and new construction...In the last 10 or more years, I've seen a lot of things going together with screws instead of nails, even done it myself on occasion, but I have also noticed that when taking things apart, it takes 10 TIMES as long to change something because screws go under the surface of the wood and disappear. You are bound to miss a couple as you try to pry things apart and of course you can't because the screw won't allow it. If nails can't be pried or pulled, they can be cut off with a reciprocating saw...You can cut screws this way, too, but they are generally much harder metals...It won't be long till we are building out of plastics and we'll have to drill and screw everything, but fastening wood in residential housing should always be done with nails... Like screws, there are hundreds of types and sizes of nails, a technology that existed for thousands of years and has been used for perfection by great craftsmen...Screws can hold things together when you haven't accomplished good joinery, it's a quick fix that "weekend carpenters" have been using because they are unskilled and lazy...Build a whole deck with screws and go back 10yrs later to change half the boards and you will have a LONG job of cleaning out the roberts or phillips heads before you can get your bit in there...Try backing out a bent screw or one that is broken in the top half. A proper sized flat bar, crow bar, wrecking bar and good old fashioned leaverage, and you can pop that board off in a minute, cleaning the board of nails is a cinch, too, when you know how...They guy struggling to remove screws will be working a long time after I'm done stripping, denailing, and stacking my deck...

Agreed. I don't like to see gaudy and distracting adverts in public spaces, I think it gives people less freedom to enjoy the space on their own terms, and think whatever thoughts they want to. Instead of buy x, use service y, etc. The pedestrian bridge across from the Westfield to the old town centre could have a nice view-but that's permanently blocked by adverts. You have to wonder who these places are designed for, if not the people who use them every day.

So they have the privilege of living in the Capital, but they don't want development. The rest of the country would kill to have something like that, we can't even get a bloody KFC nevermind something like this. Build it, if they don't like it, they can move. I have sympathy to a point, but they don't realize that the world is bigger than them, and although they may not like it, thousands upon thousands more will and it will have a positive impact on the economy. @ARW.7 2 жыл бұрын
@@joepopplewell680 yeah I agree with some of your point and I am certainly pro development especially for economic reasons. But it’s not as black and white as that I guess. If you’re living in a high rise with a view or even a low level house/flat. If a developer goes and puts that on your road when you have a nice happy street that you have invested in with family, I can’t even begin to imagine the amount of people who would flood down your street weekly suddenly when a 20,000 seat arena has just appeared outside your house. So I do get why people immediately impacted kicked off. Equally, you’ve got to be open minded and accept quite literally anything can get developed opposite you in a major city, especially when you’re purchasing or entering a long term agreement. I’m located just outside of London but agree there’s plenty of other cities that this would get more attention from and benefits. Having said that, you can put it in London as it’s so big you would hardly notice it unless you’re in the east. Most other cities it would be insanely dramatic on the skyline and likely kick up even more of a fuss potentially 🤷🏻‍♂️

Everything we make today is uncreative. When you fit so much into a drawing, adding anything else only ruins it more, and the idea of adding anything else is already sickening because of the lack of good reputation the previous pathetic structures had showcased. They only care about what is new, not what they knew. My father constantly said that if enough people make their new construction unique, soon enough everyone will be making something unique and that in itself creates the most similar uncreative line possible. When they made the empire state building, their was a new source of inspiration in the next new buildings to be made, all different sorts of art deco streamlined architecture, when they make a triangle tower or thin glass ruler (432parkavenue, 111-west-57th, even one 57 being the nicest example), the amount of variation is exceedingly limited, and all very much the same because it is a concept at that point, not a actually structure that can be used in different ways. My brother says buildings are more akin to art projects today more than anything, nothing functional, the interiors are hideous, and you can't expand on the idea without making something irritably similar.

@@theuberman7170 You get used to it, except when it's over 115. The rest of the year is nice though.

They must create a external vector map design for the exterior LEDs that make it look like the Death Star. A May the 4th must.

This sphere looks like Michael Crichton’s science fiction Sphere that was under water which acted as a portal in time travel combined with thought power.
