Couldn’t agree more about you saying it’s got expensive. Went to NYC for first time since the pandemic last November and couldn’t believe how expensive things had got. Even a basic lunch in a diner (tuna melt with chips, coffee, lemon pie and a beer) was $50+ when you add the tip in. Tipping in general also felt like it had got wild. Granted I was in the centre of the city, but a pint of Guinness (and I’m not sure it was even a full 568ml pint) in the places I was going was $10 minimum. Crazy!

I’ve been twice and loved it. If you can get past the brashness and the absurdity of it there’s so much to see and do that isn’t all casino related, but it’s even good fun walking around the casinos and people watching. Make sure you go to Freemont street and see the old town with the psychedelic movie show on the ceiling, but you need to drive there really. Also it’s only about 30 miles by car to Hoover Dam which is spectacular

Your Las Vegas videos, Lee, brings back memories of my 2 visits to Las Vegas back in 2006 and 2008 when they had the great Star Trek The Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton. I remember seeing a wild roller coaster ride on the observation deck of the Startasphere tower in North Las Vegas which seemed run down. The main Las Vegas strip with all the hotels and attractions is a nice area. The Luxor Hotel is a pretty cool place to see Egyptian displays. Enjoy your visit. Stay safe

I was married in Vegas out of necessity. (not that kind of necessity). I was an Air Force aircrew member and came back from an Alaskan trip and had a week to get married, set up an apartment and leave again for a 30 day trip to Japan. We flew to Vegas. What you may not know is that you just can't walk into a wedding chapel and get married. The Clark County Courthouse is open 24 hours a day (it was back then) and you got a license and off to one of the chapels. We rented a limo. Very nice Unitarian Minister (we are Catholic so we had a private Catholic ceremony with a priest about two years later). Anyway we had to pay for two witnesses. Believe it or not they made it very dignified and my wife had a beautiful wedding gown on. We celebrated with family when we had the time. We just had our 50th wedding anniversary last year and have six beautiful grandchildren. Leaving for Japan was the hard part!

I recall rather famous line: “only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the noonday sun”. I’m American. I’m trying not to be excessively harsh: Not smart in desert at all, life-threatening. That’s what winter is for. And all sincerity it’s freaking dangerous. I live in the southern United States. In August, you run from air-conditioning to air-conditioning unless you’re on the beach in the water or in a pool. Heck, even in August when we go to the beach, we get there at 8 AM and leave before noon. My son was just there against my recommendations and he described it as “like walking inside a pizza oven”. I think you would agree.

The best part of Vegas is the Arts District or the 18B area of Vegas, its bohemian and I love it. Yes Vegas has it's problems, but where doesn’t in the world?
