@9:42 my favorite type of lunch a sandwich with a sweet chaser!:) By the way, they say it's not recommended to eat your lunch at your work station, it's not a healthy decision... you should stand up, do some exercise, and step out side of the office and take a few big deep breathes...Lol! Only you can have your lunch the way you do, the rest of us are either sitting at our work stations or go "outside" you well 30+ thousand feet is the norm :) This reminds me how cool your job is those small moments like having lunch on a very high speed jet at altitude! Fantastic! - Keep'in it Real!!!

Loved your video. Reminded me of a time we were doing a Lax-Phx-Lax trip with the Bac 1-11. We tankered fuel from LA as it was cheaper there. Mistake. On approach got ATIS, 113 degrees, not even noon yet. Pulled out the WAT chart, once we landed we couldn't take off again. CRAP!!!!!!! I had to go in the back and tell the boss. He was ok with it, decided he'd do some more BUSINESS and stay longer. As if he had a choice. We left around midnight when it was a brisk 92 degrees. So, I can relate. Be safe out there!!!

Thanks Bill. That Little live stream was me in a very nice hotel room the passengers had set up at the atlantis in Nassau . It was a corner room on the ninth floor with a very large balcony that wrapped around two sides and had a sliding glass door on both sides. My wife gets mad when I holler at her not to stand and bounce on the bed at home or in hotels so, I did a live stream for her. I ran out one door, around the balcony, in the other door, jumped on the bed, bounced over some furniture and out the door again. did it a couple of times. Definitely not for prime time viewing.

@realulli8 жыл бұрын
What do you mean? The indicator on top of the dashboard? That's an angle-of-attack indicator. It actually has three colors: yellow (bottom, "AOA too low/you're too fast"), red (top, "AOA too high/too slow/stall warning about to go off") and green (middle, "correct AOA, correct speed").
@rickyhildebrand1147 жыл бұрын
I suppose the same applies about hot versus cold air. (Hot air = lighter air,less oxygen > less performance/ Cold air= heavier more density > more efficient burn = more power)

Great video (like all the others). I'm currently doing PPL training, and I'd like to do videos of my flying as well. How long does it take to put your vids together? Do you plan the videos, or just put them together from the material you record afterwards? Also, I enjoy seeing the technical aspects in your videos (processes for different aircraft, for example), so can never get too much of that ;-) Good stuff M
@captmoonbeam8 жыл бұрын
Sadly, I almost never have a plan for my videos. When I think about it I pull out my phone and make a clip. Sometimes I make video somedays I don't. I had a very busy day yesterday and didn't make any video. Then, Several days later I put it all in a file then come back to it when It's next in line a couple of months later. Often, I look at these clips and think, there's not enough here to do anything with then, other days I'll think to myself this tells a story of that day and that video gets made. It's hard to say how long it takes because I rarely do them in one siting. My laptop I travel with is eight years old and not up to the task of editing so I just work on my desktop at home. this means I may work on it a couple of hours, go fly a trip then come back to it another day.
@mrmorphic8 жыл бұрын
Ok thanks for that, sounds a bit like the couple of test vids I've made. They were pretty basic but I found selecting and editing is quite time consuming. Keep up the good work 😀

Question for you, did you take off out of Vegas with no flaps because of the heat? I flew out of San Antonio last month, 102 degrees outside, in a citation sp1. The Vspeed card had the speeds and zero flaps, said it was too hot. now we were light, half tanks and two people on board, not sure if that factors in
@captmoonbeam8 жыл бұрын
The zero flaps was probably to give you a better 2nd segment climb gradient. We did a Flaps approach takeoff.

How many landings can you do before you have to change tires?
@captmoonbeam8 жыл бұрын
Mike, there are limits to my knowledge. I don't know. The tires wear down and then one day we come out to the plane and they're new. I think it's the maintenance Fairy. But seriously I can't give you an exact answer. The tires wear off the tread way before we reach any life limit and there are all sorts of factors that will affect the tread wear.

Hey Cap', I'm good, thanks for asking :) I do have a unique question for you... What made you decide to start a YT channel and promote you and your family to the world...? And know that I am asking purely for a better understanding (and you are a pilot and many pilots watch your flying adventures) of why you and millions and millions of other folks around this globe want to show themselves, their lives to the world... Just asking...
@captmoonbeam8 жыл бұрын
Your welcome. This channel was originally where I posted a few clips for out of town family to see what we were up to. it never had more than a few views. They were all from relatives. One day I posted a couple of 20 second cockpit clips and didn't log back in for about six months. When I checked back in, I had thousands of views and dozens of comments on those two clips. I was very surprised that anyone had taken notice. They were 640 x 480 videos. I had landing videos that I had made by just laying the camera on the top of the glareshield so, I posted those also and people watched them. then when we went on our first cruise, I posted some cruise videos that got a very good response. My wife would say that I'm sharing a look into a world that most people don't get to see. She also is the one who strongly insisted that most people would like to see the person behind the camera. It never occurred to me to put myself in the videos before that. She pushed that for a long time before I did anything. So, I didn't plan to be a KZbinr, it was just kind of by accident. I left out the fact that I made a couple of non-aviation videos that have been very helpful in some peoples lives and I would have to say the feedback has encouraged me to continue shareing.

The three most useless things in flying; Altitude above you, runway behind you, and ten seconds ago. I see you made the most of the runway at Las Vegas! I understand about heat, density altitude and such, but I'm kind of baffled that you think it would have been such an issue coming out of Las Vegas, since there were only two of you on the airplane. There should have been tons of reserves, even on one engine. Am I wrong on that? If so, what am I missing?
@captmoonbeam8 жыл бұрын
Everyone needs to make a note here. Good point, good point, good point. Gary, since we wanted to make St Louis non-stop we weren't as light as you would think. 35 C was our Max temp for a max gross takeoff. We didn't need to do a max gross takeoff but the temperature could have reached the point where it reduced our required fuel for the non-stop. Another factor that would be coming into play as the temp went up and the air became thinner were the brake energy limits in the event we had to abort,
@GaryMCurran8 жыл бұрын
captmoonbeam See, I knew I was missing stuff, which is why I asked. How far were you from Max Gross? I know a lot of people think fill the tanks and fill the seats, and go, but most of us know that isn't possible. But, what kind of fuel load and what total weight were you at, in relationship to Max Gross? Also, I've never heard of Brake Energy Limits, so something else new to me. Learn something new everyday!
