I like your system! I have a GRIT Automation system that controls all of my blast gates and my dust extractor for all of my woodworking equipment. I might see if I can implement the same system for my lasers.

Hello. I love your setup. I really like the idea of electronic dampeners. I have a Nova 51 right now as well as an Omtech Polar running into an 8" duct leading outside, each has it's own stock fan. I like the fact that the Thunder automatically turns on the fan only when it needs it (via the rear plug). I wonder if there is a way to have the Thunders rear fan port automatically turn on your electronic duct instead of having to do it manually.... Just a thought. One less thing to have in your setup and one less thing to forget.

Good idea but not practical because it pulls from 7 different machines

Great setup. I get the feeling that the other commenters have woodworking experience, as do I; but as I am learning there are diferences with in line fans, and pull is better than push. I also like with these evac setups is how easy is is to adjust the speed/cfm/pipe size to meet different machine needs. Once again, great setup, and a model for semi-permanent-adjustability, lol, a new word. (also, what's going to create a blockage?)

Great video thank you!! I received my first laser Nova 51 130W and I would like to know cat I connect exhaust fan to my gas heating exhaust ducting with T connector? Thank you!

Hello, NO, do not do that. you need a seperate line but also having the laser in that same room you will need a intake (opening to allow air in) or you could pull flow from the heater and cause problems... i would contact HVAC people to make sure this would not be an issue

Cool setup! How often do you have to take down that big ole' fan to clean all the gunk off the blades??

Never have yet.

what do you have fir makeup air for the shop? Its always sucking air in without possitive pressure. Also i think some clean outs at the bottom of each feed would make life easier to service.

the other evac vent fan to the left allows air to come in.

You don't use the supplied inline fan for any of the thunder lasers right, just the 12" - 1300cfm fan?
@rotobossrotaryattachments Жыл бұрын
Correct... all of my lasers run off the single fan.

I don’t know if it’s necessarily overkill but I think you’ve introduced a lot of points of failure. Not to mention a lot of things to keep track of. There are some pretty good systems that will keep outside air from leaking in without any electronics. They also have failsafes to alert you if there’s blockage.
@rotobossrotaryattachments Жыл бұрын
@Eric In SF no points of failure in the system. They are there because they are behind the machines and I have no desire to leave room to get there or operate a manual damper. It is a very simple setup and works flawlessly. Just my take on how to do it, others may have their own way or modify my idea to work best for them.

You have a part number for those solenoid dampener valves? I love this idea!

The downside of this configuration is that the Fan will become congested and may clog with neglect. If the fan was pushing the smoke out with fresh air instead of sucking out the smoke it would have less problems in the future.
@JERCustomDesignsInc Жыл бұрын
That is a big negative. Pushing air cause back pressure (positive pressure) and that is never a good thing for an evacuation system because it will cause leaks and blow smoke out of those leaks as well as cut down on the air flow from the back pressure created. Not sure what you mean by the fan getting congested but that is not even a thing because you always want a negative pressure specially when it is regulated as i have it. Having a fan create a Negative pressure (suction) is the best way to have an exhaust system. As for the the system as a whole, neglected maintenance is the users fault and not the fault of the system, no matter how you do it....
