This is wonderfully helpful - thank you so much for lending your considerable expertise toward creating this review. If you say it, I trust it - I can tell you thoroughly know what you're talking about. I'm just getting started in setting up a side hustle laser engraving business, and you've really helped me to confirm my decision to go with the S1. Many, many thanks!! 😄👍

Thanks for a very honest review on the s1 I've bought one for a small hobby projects to sell at markets. I actually bought it for my 2 boy's ' 11 ans 13 . Watching all laser reviews on all kinds types it seems to be the safest laser at a reasonable price. Delivery well be this week so hopefully I can upload a video the boy's assembling it and first try . Like all children of their age they get computer time , internet time KZbin time And learning something at the same time Will be interesting to watch and see how they go Cheers Dave

its an impressive bit of kit but 2k for a 40w diode with a small work area? they should have made it P2 size for that price

There are several important features about the XTOOL S1 that were not covered in your review. In addition to the 40 watt diode module, there is a 20 watt diode module that while having lower power has a smaller spot area providing more accuracy. Also a 2 watt IR module is available. The S1 enclosure has a Class 1 Laser Safety Certification. Therefore safety glasses are not needed regardless of the diode module installed in the machine. Opening the cover immediately shuts down the laser. A small key that plugs in the back can be removed to totally lock the system. The enclosure provides lighting and five separate fire detection sensors. Also available is a CO2 fire extinguisher that can be added to smother any detected fire. With the riser base an Automatic Conveyer Feeder can be added to allow the system to engrave or cut material as large as 19” X 118”. Yes, the speed is not appropriate for a production shop. But as an additional machine in such a shop or for a beginning or advanced hobbyist, the XTOOL S1 can’t be beat. Thanks

Hey Michael great video whats the next best step up for production in a small shop the XTool p2 co2 ? Or another stronger watt laser ?
@LaserEngraving9114 ай бұрын
Hey Chris great questions! Lately I 've really got my eyes focused on the Mira7 S $8995 or the Mira9 S $11995 Redline Series from Aeon laser, I think you should take a really good look at these if your looking to up your game, the speeds are pretty incredible for the price, the company behind the product is top notch, with excellent support and warrant, you can check out the series here and build your own model based on your budget. aeonlaser.us/mira-s#ref=laserengraving911

This is a first review that mentioned S1 being too slow. Other channels didn't mention this at all. But what then are the alternatives in this price range and with similar feature set? I do find S1 tempting, because I like the features and xTool software seems to be working really well.
@LaserEngraving9118 ай бұрын
Most, alternatives in this price range are about the same speed, the S1 is on par with speed of other lasers in its space. To get fast speed the price jumps up considerably. So its a fair trade off.

Why didn't they put a camera on it . If you set up for multiple cuts like hat logos you have to make a jig. I wish they put a camera on it . Maybe they will for 2024. Thanks for your review I enjoyed it .
@LaserEngraving9118 ай бұрын
I think to keep to cost down, but you don really need it , and jigs are more accurate, thanks for watching! and your support!

Thanks for great video. I would like to start with laser cutting/engraving and hopefully use it as a side hustle (not full time job). S1 with accessories is sitting around my price limit. I was also considering M1 or F1, but the multi point possition system looks very useful. Would you recommend S1 as a first laser machine to learn and eventually start small business?

For sure the S1 will get you started! shrsl.com/4d8q2 then I would set your eyes on the P2 shrsl.com/4ffyh

Thank you so much for your video, I was waiting for someone to talk about workspace placement. Let me start by saying that I have never had a laser engraver and the fact of not having a camera blocked me a lot as I didn't have your experience. I'll give you an example, from a wooden board I would like to cut 5 key rings and 5 magnets of completely different shapes and always engrave them with different designs. At this point, don't you think that a laser engraver with an integrated camera would be better for a beginner like me? I imagine the time you said in your previous video is also important! Thank you very much for your kind reply
@LaserEngraving9119 ай бұрын
HI There, Thanks for watching! I think for your application , the camera might not be so crucial as you think, most of what you would be doing is editing the text for each part, and that can all be done on software, you would make a template that just has variable text or images in the spaces you want to engraving, and you would lock the cut layer so it cannot be moved. I worked for years without a camera as most seasoned laser engravers have done, with some practice and time, you will find that you never really needed the camera. 👍

Thank you so much for the seriousness you put into your answers thanks to which a person like me can make a decision or not... I will take the S1 to do the big work and I will also consider purchasing the F1 to work directly customization face to face in the tourist markets. Thanks again from the bottom of my heart

Yes, its has auto focus, 2 point positioning, or multipoint positioning, and also you can program it to engrave on uneven surfaces

@LaserEngraving9118 ай бұрын
I would go with the S1 for sure, there is way more support, ease of use, and the unit takes up way less space, the only draw back I see is that the S1 is a diode laser, not a Co2, so you will have some limitations, like not being able to cut clear acrylic, or engrave glass without painting the glass with black paint, but overall I think the S1 is the way to go. ✅xTool S1 Rotary Package “ Best Package For Getting Started” shrsl.com/4d8q2
