As an esthetician for 22 years, I will say the beauty industry is not regulated. The nail tech shops have one person that has a license, and the rest don’t. There are many people that would try and say they got their licenses in other countries and when you investigate those places, you would find they never existed. A decade ago the training for laser hair removal was a three day course, that’s it. Any one with $50,000 could buy these machines. The amount of places that think they can use any laser machine for skin color is just wild. When I go in for consultations, I never tell them my background so I can find out whether they know what they’re talking about or if they’re just talking out they’re behind. if you ask them if anyone’s ever been burned by this type of machine 99.9% of these places will tell you no. Or they’ll try and play it off as if it’s normal.🤦🏽‍♀️

My dentist use this on my tooth. And she isolated the tooth, protected my other teeth and my tongue, she wore protective glasses, made sure I had protective glasses, and then she also had an attendant used a UV shield between the light and her face. Smh!

Hey there. So I am a former optical technician who is certified. Worked in optometry for almost 3 years. I can't believe the lash technician are using led/uv lights on the eyes. Do people not realize its almost as bad as looking into a solar eclipse without the proper glasses. These crazy people are causing vision issues and eye conditions. Watch, a lot of women who are allowing the uv/led will most likely have emacular degeneration, partial blindness, or some kind of eye condition. And guess what, after they go to an optometrist, most likely they are going to get a referral to see an Ophthalmologist, who will most liekly have to do surgery, shots in the eye, something extreme to help save the eyes.

I remember wanting lash extensions and weighing the pros and cons. I’m prone to styes, but STILL thought I should just get them. On the day of my appt, I got a stye an hr before…and it went away after the appt time. That was the biggest sign from God to stop playing with my vision because I knew it wasn’t a good decision. What if I got them and lost my vision…and the lash tech gave me an issue because I canceled and wanted my money back. It was a literal medical issue preventing her from working on my lashes. She can’t work with a stye on my eye. It’s literally contagious and just no. That was an even bigger sign that I dodged a bullet with an unprofessional. She said I should be happy she didn’t charge the full price and just the deposit…. I’m happy a lot of these “techs” are getting exposed. This is disgusting.

Beauty services like lashes, hair, nails botox need to be maintained and cost hella money over time. If i cant afford it , i dont even try it. I keep my natual nails clean and trimmed, my eye brow maintained, learned how to do my own hair the way I like it and only go to professionals for a trim/cut and try to keep my skin healthy with a simple 3 step regimen. Some people are insane spending all that money risking their health and safety.

Sis I will never forget the time I was tryna be a cheap bad b and get them done at a nail salon, the lady didn't wash her hands, she even picked up her puppy, who was running around the shop btw for a little bit, she really tried to do my lashes with her unwashed dog hands 😭 I was like "can I just get my eyebrows done?" 😭 Then I saved up and went to a professional, it was a posh flat in London and my lashes were beautiful, she was extremely clean, extremely gentle and safe and I honestly loved her personality ❤️ point is never be cheap when it comes to your eyes, never rush the process in finding a good one, you will find one.

me personally i will NEVER allow anyone to do my individual lashes again because my mom usually do my individual lashes and that one time someone did my lashes is because my mom was busy with cause my mom is a Doctor and i was desperate and needed my lashes done so i booked an appointment not going to lie when i got my lashes done it was cute but i started seeing red flags 1 my eyes would be glued down when i wake up every morning 2 my right eye started swelling 3 it was very hard to take the lashes off and 4 when i finally got it off the lashes literally ripped off my natural lashes it was so painful my eyes started looking like i was suffering with eye cancer!!!! that's why i always tell people ALWAYS DO THE LASH STRIPS unless you have someone who you trust to do your Individual lashes. all those female doing lashes on other females on social media is a big red flag literally cause when i got my lashes done my eyes was watering and red omgg!! Another reason why I'm pretty much done with these beauty services including hair (except haircuts), nails, lashes, spray tans, and med spas. Most of these services have low barrier to entry, little to no regulation, and no continuing education requirements. So almost anyone can start the business, fake reviews/ratings online, charge high prices to make you think they're legit (even have a pretty/clean looking office space) and then the customer leaves with an awful experience.

Exactly why I think it’s a certification you should get in Esthi/Cos school like I did. I’m a certified lash tech, licensed cosmologist and currently an esthetician student.

Even certificates can be bogus though. We've seen plenty of incompetence in people with degrees. People with a track history of success are your best bet when trying to have any procedures done. People with experience.

Never allow some to do your lashes that isn’t an esthetician! Period. My lashes last up to 3 weeks. Mine are long. I like the volume. There are different types of glue. If you don’t have a a skin card routine, you are not ready to commit to lashes.

Ladies, for yall that get UV on your hands while getting your nails done - there are UV protective gloves with cut outs for your nails. I do my nails at home (I’m artistic, patient, and frugal - these bum nail techs charge waaay too much in the DMV and my nails fall off immediately. I only do the Apres - meaning it is like a “fake nail” that you use UV glue and cure on, then decorate. Most can’t do it properly)… if yall want to keep your skin safe AND want to avoid aging your hands. Use the gloves.

@@anneagena8236 the best on the market is Moxilash. Their glue is like liquid eyeliner and it lasts longer than other magnetic 🧲 glue. I had ordered Glamnic and their glue dried up very fast but they had more flashier lashes. You can use the moxie lash glue with other magnetic lashes.
