I'm so depressed, I tore my rotator cuff very badly while rolling yesterday. 2 months no BJJ minimum. Surgery Friday. I thought broken ribs sucked but this is BAD...I can't sleep, lift a plate of food or wipe my ass. No painkillers too,just anti-inflamatories. Anyway,great armbar! Will try it around Christmas. lol Osss!

How did it happen? Hopefully not because you didn't tap. Always useful to know what not to do. I got my pec ripped because I didn't tap to an armbar when my partner was angled off towards my head. He was never going to extend my arm but he was generating so much force that he could have ripped my shoulder out of the socket. My pec tendon popped. Lesson learned. When a guy has his legs and core hauling on an arm, just tap regardless of whether he's got the armbar or not.

I was sure I had the escape...sure of it. I passed his leg over my head to the other side but he adjusted really well (a 15 year younger black belt) and before I knew it snap,crackle, pop. It's the same armbar as GSP did on Matt Hughes if you remember that one. It was the finals of our town tournament to see who would go to provincials so I was willing to do everything to escape. Oh well. The surgery went well and I'll be doing some light rolling by the new year I hope.

Mikey B. I just had rotator cuff surgery last year and it is very depressing. If you are have surgery I would expect to be out more than 2 months. I highly recommend that you do your pt exercises religiously!

thanks for the heads up Dan. Yes, I am 3 days out of hospital now and I can't see me rolling until the spring to be honest. The doctor had to also get out a lot of bone spurs,he said it was professionally messed up lol. My next marker is to wipe my butt and have missionary sex by Christmas. No more morphine as of tomorrow...just advil and Naproxen...I will be just a JOY to be around hahaha.

Mikey B. I was back on the mats after 3 months, just doing technique and warm ups. Definitely don't rush things!! It's a long process but just be smart a bit and you'll be fine. The ice machine after surgery made a world of difference. Highly, highly recommend getting one
