You need to go to The Hike Inn with family. I’ve been 5 times. It’s 5 mi in, spend the night, then hike back out after breakfast. Food is great too. My granddaughter did it at age 5. She’s 28 and still loves hiking. Zip line is new! Fun.

Ours, too! I love the different lodging you can choose, too, from camping to glamping to cabins to the lodge. So convenient to a number of trails right there.

There are two things my wife loves to do is visit waterfalls and go zip lining. You have given me an idea for her birthday to take her to Amicalola Falls to see the falls and to go zip lining. What a beautiful place to stay and happy you had the two girls with you and your husband so you could all share in the hike and zip lining adventures. Loved the video. I was a Ranger there for a few years and worked at the Hike Inn. So lots of memories. Before I set off on my AT Thru Hike attempt I’d train on the stairs a few days a week by going up and down them. That got me in shape for what was to come. Good luck on y’all’s journey and prayers for a safe one and for raising funds to support the folks of Appalachia. Thank y’all for doing what y’all are doing.

The visitor center was incredible. I kept pausing to see the exhibits! Yeah MB, powering up the stairs! Your footage of the clouds burning off from the lodge was heavenly. Looks like the 3 B's (Bear, Badger, Brian) had a great time at the ziplines. 👍 Bear must have been thrilled to be old enough this time. 😊 Hard to believe you're leaving next month! Awesome Mama Bear! The falls is like Crab Tree Falls in Virginia. It is the tallest falls east of the Mississippi. You can take a side trail to see it while trekking the AT. You should check it out on your journey.

@ I’ll check, you were in the area. I live near mile marker 850 ish, off Interstate 64, Charlottesville. It is about an our south of that. I can shoot you the details. When you hike the falls, there is an AT shelter within .3 ish miles.

We had so much fun! I forgot that Bear had previously zip lined when she was in Orientation school for the Nay Sea Cadets program last year. But, this was the first time she was able to participate with the family at one of the bigger zip lines. She did so well and loved it! Can’t wait for us to head out on the AT! Just over a month now! I think it’s an absolute beautiful experience to see the waterfall! We never tire of it. But, I don’t think it’s necessary to walk the entire 8.8 miles to Springer if one doesn’t want to.

I think that first zipline needs to be adjusted. Even OB with his weight and strong kickoff had to be grabbed and pulled in at the other end. I've done a couple ziplines and the thing that freaks me out the most is the feeling that I'm losing energy into the platform and might stop and roll backwards before I get there. Good job by all, though! And since I don't remember if I said this on your last video, Best Wishes to the Birthday Bear!

Thank you! She had a great birthday! Not sure about the lines, but it was very windy, too. My husband rappels and does crazy stuff with his job, so he has no fear. Me, I prefer to stay on the ground, unless I’m climbing mountains.

No worries! I don’t think so. This time, instead of us driving ourselves, my husband will take us to Amicalola. The current plan is for him to drive us to Springer, unless, of course, the roads aren’t suitable for our van. If that’s the case, we will probably hire a shuttle. We also could just decide to do the approach trail to make it even easier, but who knows? lol!! I’m going to let Bear decide. It doesn’t really matter to me.
