Awesome glad to hear you like the video thanks for watching. I love these boots they have been great. Do you own any with leather soles?
@rucksackrules22664 жыл бұрын
Offroad Odyssey No, all original cork soles at the 8111's, 8112's, 8113's and 8114's and wedge soles on the 8771's (which I don't like because they wear like sneakers!). I own Grenson boots with leather soles for some 25 years now, but they have to be replaced every year, which is not a good option and kind of expensive. You are right when mentioning Iron Rangers can be worn in every situation.

Yeah always been curious to see how the leather soles would hold up more for the old school kinda feel but glad I the Vibram sole makes the boots versatile.

I just bought a pair of these. I normally wear a 12 EE . . . the length I need only to get the width that I have to have!! My length measures an 11. But in these boots I ended up with a 10 1/2 EE and I have plenty of width. I've started the breaking in process and I'm sure that will take awhile . . . but worth it for sure!! Thanks for the video!!

I normally wear a wide in all my work books so that's why they were my "normal" size if you will. If I didn't get a bigger shoe to make up for the width, these redwings are probably true to size. These are fantastic boots, I own iron rangers and Beckmans, but let’s be honest these are not the most comfortable if u are going to be walking or standing on your feet all day for a job. There is simply no cushioning for your feet. Red Wings have a line of work boots that have more support and cushioned insoles which in my opinion will be more comfortable for your feet if your job involves lots of walking and standing for 8hrs a day.
@TrentMMoore5 жыл бұрын
I can agree with that. As a work boot I am sure red wing/ other boot companies make more comfortable boots. I think these are the best looking all around boot. As far as the most comfortable shoe, definitely wouldn't go that far. I am working on a review for what I think is the most comfortable shoe out there. Thanks for the comment and watching the video. Your break in took 3-4 months, 2hrs a day 🤔 I just finished breaking in the red wing heritage moc toe. But I did it straight, day after day at work. I had a spare pair of shoes incase if got too painful, but it never got to that point. So it took me 40-48 hrs to get them broken in completely....discomfort and pain free. I think my method is a little quicker because I don’t give the leather any breaks, just though I’d mention that.
@TrentMMoore4 жыл бұрын
Yeah definitely quicker, that is how I break in my work boots just constant use. These boots didn’t need the brute force treatment. Appreciate you watching the video and commenting, thanks👍

The Iron Ranges are my favorite boots so far . They’re so so comfortable. The Blacksmith are comfy too. However these boots are not symmetrical. I’ve also noticed that some 8.5 in Blacksmith don’t fit the same . Some are built more narrow than others. I had to exchange a pair of Blacksmith because they were extremely tight and the arches were very high.

I love these iron rangers with the vibram soles. the ones with the nitrile cork soles look bulky but these ones look slick. i think the niitrile cork may be thicker than these soles which is why it looks roughneckish. like i feel you can wear these ones with a suit or a jeans but the nitrile cork ones will only fit jeans. like i prefer these to the 8111 and the 8114

How would they hold up in some snow ? I know they are not waterproof,but would they keep my feet dry in snow and puddles! Thanks.
@TrentMMoore4 жыл бұрын
Well being that I am from Southern California I am no expert on the snow so take that for what it is worth... If you plan walking through the snow more then half way up the boot for an extended time period I don’t think these are for you. But if you are walking around town or some trails with snow and puddles I think they would hold up for that application great. I took them in mostly places that had been walked through with minor puddles with no issues. I also think the leather conditioner I used helped to repel the water.

Just thinking on getting a pair would you recommend them for work boots iam an electrican and walking on concrete and wood floors
@TrentMMoore5 жыл бұрын
In short yes these would work. Would they be my first choice for the career you have probably not. My first thought is what boots do you have now? I love these boots and I have not had any issues when I wear them for full days, other then normal foot fatigue which I get from almost any shoe I wear. The thing is I assume to do a lot of kneeling, maybe some crawling, and probably lots of walking on concrete like you mentioned. I think a more cushioned boot would be what I would look for, maybe something like there mock toe style. With this style of boot I noticed my heels and the ball of my feet take most of the impact which because it has a leather insole. For the first few months the break in might hurt your feet ( I noticed pinch points and sore spots). I wear leather station boots and wildland firefighting boots so I feel my break in period was different just do to he fact I kinda had my routine down to keep my feet from hurting. I know I kinda rambled but I don't want to say this is the best boot as a work boot. Will it hold up? Definitely? Will you break them in and it be a comfortable boot? Yeah. But is it the best option compared to some of the other boots they offer? Probably not. I would find a redwing store or someone who carries them and try them on. Don't worry bout how stiff they are thing about the insole and how your foot feels. Maybe consider insoles if you just like this style. Hope that helps sorry about the long answer. Thanks for watching don't forget to subscribe if you haven't already. Also if you like knives I am holding a giveaway check out my latest video to see how you can be entered to win. Have a great day.

@TrentMMoore5 жыл бұрын
Anywhere from 1 mile to 15 miles. The longer hikes you notice the weight and the harder sole compared to an actual hiking boot. I am also use to hiking in leather boots for woodland fires so that could make a difference in how comfortable they feel for me. Thanks for watching

@@TrentMMoore Interesting. They did the job it seems. I'm currently looking for a pair of boots that can do both hiking and casual wear that can also be resoled. I'm not one to buy something every few months so I don't like the idea of shoes that can't be repaired.
@TrentMMoore5 жыл бұрын
That was one of the reasons I bought them, I could resolve them they work for both causal and outdoors use. I would say go try them on the sizing was one size smaller then I normally wear and you can gauge how your feet will feel in them. If you aren’t use to leather soles it can feel uncomfortable at first.
