@ everyone complaining about his pickups, his vibrato, his teaching style etc.-- Where's your fucking videos? Bless us mere mortals with the perfection of the gods!

The first exercise he mentioned was in A Aeolian 1st position. However, I believe utilizing the G# turned that one into an A Harmonic Minor [ABCDEFG#]. See the last exercise where he evenly distributes the E Phygian Dominant [EFG#ABCD] accurately, and gives credit to it as the 5th mode of the A Harmonic Minor.

That is actually one of the best if not THE best vibrato I've ever heard.
@cpamiseso12 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's a vibrato, a wide one. There's a video of Lick Library showing a wide vibrato, a round one, etc. Goulding is the wide one IMHO. Since it's been done in a slow motion, feels like a bend.

On the Paul Gilbert Lick (3rd run) can someone explain why it is 'A' Aeolian when he starts on C and ends on C? Shouldn't it be C Ionian since he is on 1st mode and not the 6th mode (A Aeolian)? It is because the run is designed to be in context with music in A Aeolian?

I love EMGs but passives are greta for soloing. Thats why I want the Het Set its great for ripping your face off with riffs and soothing the soul with the solos!!!

He says semi-tone in this video, when he talks about bending on the B string during the major scale. Does he mean a half note? Can some one explain a semi-tone?

Semi-tone is the same as a half-step like B to C or A to A#

When the Yngwie lick goes to 9-10-12 on the B string it becomes the harmonic minor, no longer the natural minor. I think you should mention that. I say this not because I am an expert but because I am trying to learn. As you can tell by my user id, I still suck at guitar.

@PJyrstinkangas12 жыл бұрын
What the...? When did I say it was the law? That was my opinion. Also, just because someone is really popular doesn't mean he/she has the best tone. Listen to Steve Lukather for example, a lot of the feeling and power in his playing gets thickened out by that electric hiss from the active EMGs he's using.

I don't care how important his "tone wide vibrato", I am never going to like it. And that is what it is really about, isn't it. playing what I like, I will take all that I can from video's like this and leave the vibrato in the dust!
@MusicMan64212 жыл бұрын
Why do people have to talk so much smack about Martin's vibrato? Are they all daft and unaware that there is more then one style of vibrato and he prefers a wide sweeping vibrato instead of a short subtle one?

I'm pretty sure martin is fed up of hearing this redundant shitty comment, just because your vibrato probably sounds like a dying sheep doesn't mean you have to rip on someone elses. Maybe instead of picking on his vibrato try complimenting on what an incredible shred player he is
