What engine should I built for the 2000km ride to Trondheim for next years national rally?

Sledgehammer 333 ;-)

Have you had any more thoughts about your engine, Monza 230 ? RB240 ?
@kickbackgarageАй бұрын
@RichieBx52 yes, those are 2 of my thoughts 🙃 Monza is cheaper that an RB because I wouldn't need to buy an extra head and exhaust...but I'm still thinking

What Beautiful Roads you ride along Rob, the S2 goes well enough I reckon. Although it would be nice to watch a Sledgehammer being fitted and used. Expensive change though, so keep the KTM. Best Regards

The scary part about these super engines is that they are cylinder and case specific. Imo

Great vid as usual Rob, looked a nice ride out, that S2 goes so well mate & fantastic scenery. Have a safe winter, but i'm sure you will be out a few more times for a sneaky ride 😉😉

Thoughts on maybe doing a video on elevation climbs and vaper lock as you mentioned next year's national rally has a few hills to climb!

There are mountains on every national rally. We have over 160,000 mountains here 😂

I reckon a sledgehammer in the series one would be nice. Casa should give you one to test . Those look like great roads for scooters 👍

Hay Rob you said write a Comment it helps the algorithm. So Comment.lol. Thanks for the input you do on your channel. Lot of inspiration in them. I'd stepped away for a few yr from scooters.

Not much use for that 5th gear Rob. Lovely roads.

For a GL, you're going to be limited by the two port motor, so not a lot of options for the top end. Pinasco make a two port 177 that I had on a VBB for a long time and it's a decent kit. You can run it with up to a 20/20 carb. It can't pull enough air to justify a 24/24, though. For the ignition, the best option hands down (IMO) is the SIP Vape, which they started producing for small cone cranks like the GL has a couple years ago. Alternately, Mazzucelli make a large cone 60mm crank that will fit the GL, but let you use P-series ignitions. Either way, the Vape will do right by you. The best option would be to track down some three port cases and build the motor on that. Also, the GL's center stand interferes with the SIP & BGM "big box" exhausts, so look at the Polini Box for low-to-mid-range power, or maybe the Malossi box, which will give him more top end rev's and extend 1st through 3rd gears, but he might not be able to generate enough power to push it down the road at speed. Having recently done my first Lambretta build after twenty years of vintage Vespa's, I know how it feels to suddenly have a whole load of different parts and considerations than you're used to. The actual wrenching, as I'm sure you're aware, is really not much different. For me, I found learning my way around the Lammy motor no more challenging than when I first started building smallframes after years of largeframe Vespas.

Thanks! And thanks for the heads up on the stand issue.

Oh, my first engine rebuild tune, was a sprint veloce and done quite a few PX motors. It's the small taper, 2 port bit which I don't want to crop me up.
@ChandlerHowell-Vespa2 ай бұрын
@@kickbackgarage you could potentially fiddle it with a different spring (it wants that big fat one), but I never found one that worked "right," but why bother since the exhaust isn't going to be what holds this motor back.

Never pulled the clutch lever IN on my lambretta to go 2-3-4th. You seem to do it for every gear change 🤷🏻♂️😂
@kickbackgarage2 ай бұрын
You don't need to use the clutch on any motorcycle but it is highly recommended if you don't want to brake the gearbox.

Another great video! Agree on the Monza, a great "standard bolt on" IMO. The trip can be done in about 13.5 hrs mate, still off the motorway, but not as epic... Lets see if we can meet up along the way! 🛵💨💨
