Hard work, dedication and positive attitude -- these are only a few of the many precious things he had shared with his company and co-workers every day. His strong work ethic has set high standards and earned the respect of everyone. "Thank you for being a great example for everyone, Tom! Very few people dedicated their lives to their job the way you have. Congratulations on your well-deserved retirement and wishing you happiness, success and good health as you begin your new adventure!" 😀😀😀

I wonder what the mail was like 30 years ago. I've been a carrier for 13. When I started there was a lot more mail but only maybe 20 packages in my one hamper. NOW there's just a lot of circulars and I have 3 hampers of 100+packages every day. What a change in just about 8 years.

30 YEARS AGO ??? I STARTED IN 1979 ..THE SNOW WAS SUPER HEAVY NOTHING LIKE TODAY..I REMEMBER GETTING STOCKED CUTTING ACROSS A LAWN I RARELY USE THE SIDEWALKS IT TOOK LONGER TO DELIVER THE ROUTE...THE MAIL WAS 100 % SORTED BY HAND , THE MAIL CASES WERE STUFFED WITH MAIL...MAIL WAS HEAVY NO E-MAILS --COMPUTERS ??? THE TOWN I STARTED DELIVERING MAIL HAD 15 ROUTES , WHEN I RETIRED IN 2010 WE HAD 34 ROUTES...AS USUAL THE FASTER YOU DID YOUR ROUTE ?? THE MORE THEY ADD IT TO YOUR ROUTE...MY ROUTE WAS AROUND 450 DELIVERIES, THE SLOWER CARRIERS WHO TOOK THEIR SWEET TIME HAD 260--300..JOSE 1979--2010 ILLINOIS..

I started in 1988 as a mail carrier. The mail (letters and flats) volume was very heavy and 100% sorted by hand. Very few parcels except at Christmas. There was also Sears, JC Penneys and Spiegel catalogues (very heavy) a few times a year and almost every house got Sears, most got Penneys and maybe 25% got Spiegel. We had a letter rack and a flat rack. We had to line up our flats in delivery order. Then they got the vertical flat rack. Then they took away letter racks. Somewere along the way they brought in DPS first and then FSS. I always thought that was when the post office was going downhill. Too much mail getting destroyed in the plants then put into bags saying "sorry your mail got torn in half in our crappy machines." No internet or computers in anyones home so people paid their bills with letters, stamps and checks. Mail was considered very important and I made sure to always deliver correctly and took a lot of pride in my job. I delivered mail for 30 years. When I started we had the jeeps. Today the parcels would never fit in the jeep. Very seldom saw a boss on the road. No scanning, no tracking, no gps. I had to move closer to my mom as she was getting older and needed help in her daily life. I got a transfer but had to be a window clerk which is what I do now. The office I am in now is horrible. Both employees and management. I also do not like being a window clerk. The public is horrible and I am treated badly everyday for trying to do my job. I just turned 56 and can retire. I had planned to work until 62 but I'm going to retire in 6 months. If I were just starting out today I wouldn't last. It is a horrible place to work. Learn and master a craft or trade in the real world. Like plumbing, carpentry, hair stylist. I'm happy I am nearing the end of my employement at the post office.

Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. Modelling Godly behavior & speech is a testimony to one's daily, intentional relationship/walk with the LORD and requires steady discernment, especially in a USPS setting. It is how we worship and serve our God in the mundane here on earth. It is how we grow and leave behind a legacy to follow. WELL DONE, GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT!

Two kinds of postal workers the job is part of your life or this is your life . My Postman husband retired early 10 + yrs ago after getting cancer he was awarded postal Benjamin Franklen pin plus others he has lived a life you can wright a book about he graduated from collage in 2019 started a local access tv show got his ham license and plus that morning hot tub and back rub while suffering from cancer side affects in his lower back. Cliff ClavIn here will be lost without his job he looks frail already the faces of his coworkers (Has he left Yet ) My husband worked with a 50+ work years guy also he said later what a waist of time he lost with his kids and grand kids . In my old office the union always gave you a gift certifcate and plaque. We also had a dinner at a restaurant which was usually on a Saturday night since the regulars always have Sunday off. Almost everyone came to the dinner (at least 150 people) The office I'm in now you just retire. The union doesn't give you anything, no parties.
