I always enjoy your episodes and Kenneth's kindness is such a welcome sight. Good people being good to one another, that is nice to see. The wooden boat works are something else, very cool.

It's pretty easy to see why so many patrons and followers of RAN 's Malin & Johan are so gracious with invites for dinner or dock space or excursions when they come in to destinations like this... a great channel to subscribe to and follow and a very nice and humble sailing couple who make some amazing sailing and travel videos to enjoy.

I have been following you from the beginning. I have always enjoyed your videos and saw the quality develop over the years. I watch a lot of sailing videos and your series on the NW is the best I have seen. Everyone has their own style and I enjoy seeing the different points of view. Yours come the closest to what I look for in a sailing video. I always wanted to live this life style. What made this video special to me as the cozy interior shots. The rain, the heater, cooking, relaxing on the settee: all made me feel like I was there. Just like I had imagined it. Thank you.

Love all your videos, especially in these areas that remind me of my summer sailing explorations of Desolation Sound in the late '80's. That experience, and watching you guys, makes me marvel again at the accomplishments of the first [European] explorers like George Vancouver and the Spanish. They managed to map this maze of inlets, sounds and islands using heavy slower, less maneuverable sailing ships, and without benefit of diesel, satellite navigation, accurate charts, downloadable weather updates, tide and current tables and so forth. I think you can only really appreciate what they did after experiencing how challenging it can feel sailing some parts of this region without all those marvels of modern technology. I would love to see the area the way Vancouver did, but honestly wouldn't want to have to do it using the "tools" he had to work with.

You know how to make us homesick for our old stomping grounds. We did our first refit in Port Townsend in 2012 but at the Hudson Point area near the Maritime Center. If you need sail work or rigging help Carol Hasse and Brion Toss respectively can not be beat. They are know worldwide. Brion has written most of the definitive boats and rigging, knots and rope work. You will have to pass that was before you can so south again so there is another chance to visit that historic and charming town. Enjoy your skiing. Snoquamie is a fun area. Also up near Bellingham on Mt Baker there is more great skiing. We have not skied Crystal Mt. so can’t comment on it. Enjoy.

Not sure if its the same laws in the US but in Canada the foreshore up to high tide is public property and anybody is allowed to go there regardless.
@sp10sn5 жыл бұрын
It's so, so different in the US and there are distinctions by state. In WA, the shores are private to the low tide mark. Mileage wise, I think forestry and fisheries own the most of Washington's coast line.
@larryg33265 жыл бұрын
Having grown up in Oregon, it was a shock when I learned that beaches were often private in Washington & California. Oregon's beaches are public to something like highest high tide line and access must be available from the land side. We are wonderfully spoiled. Thank you for another beautiful and interesting video.
@richardnwilson5 жыл бұрын
In the state of Maine property owners have certain rights in the intertidal zone in front of their property. The only time you can go in the intertidal zone is if you're fishing or hunting with a license in season. Any other activity is not allowed unless the property owner doesn't mind. How's that for a value judgment? However If you wash up on the shore in distress on or from a boat you are not breaking the law. The Maine coast is beautiful though although it is hard sometimes to find a place to get ashore. It really has to be public land or uninhabited areas. thanks for another wonderful video!
