... and suddenly, it's '94 again. All my favourite allies are still alive and we got snacks and supplies ... oops. Wrong one. But still - the first Vitalogy track, I figured out back then. Thank you, Mr. L., keeper of the holy grail and precious gift to our lives and ears that goes by the name of Pearl Jam. Thank you, as always 👍🙏✌

I like to bend that last chord in the outro each time it comes around. Possibly my most satisfying PJ song to play for a number of reason.

I realize this isn’t the way it’s played but during the chorus i play it as the C add 9 then Bm in the bass to A then G. But for the “I would rather starve than eat your bread..” I like to track the vocals notes by going to the G with E on the D string in the bass, then bass to open D, then C on the a string to Bm. Just sounds good to me to track the vocals. Sorry if this doesn’t make sense.

Almost 8 years ago... a song that is now 30 years old.. but was 22 years old back then.. and that i never saw them play live the same way ever?
@stevemccallum65846 ай бұрын
Exactly how I've played it for almost 30 years including the Mike/Ed bridge. One thing Ed does in the verse is he does a baby F to low Em to G. And finally the outro Ed is low Em-A-Cmaj7 as they jam out.

Hi Ryan Brilliant channel, have watched for years. Played along with so many PJ songs because of your excellent videos. My favourite is Oceans. Ive looked at Corduroy on different youtube videos. Around the 2.21 minute mark on the song righg before Eddie sings "everything has changed, absolutely nothings changed" there are 8 on/offs but ive always heard an off/on for the last of the 8 which is the smallest difference but it actually is the best part of the song for me. What do you think?

Is the lyric “everything has chains” or “everything has changed?” I think it’s “chains” but wouldn’t “change” be so much better? Can someone please let Ed know? :)
@AnimationByDylan6 ай бұрын
I always thought the first line was "chains" and the second "changed." Seems like a Vedder thing to me.
@jeffmassie14266 ай бұрын
@@AnimationByDylan Yeah, I think you're right. I like (as if it matters) the idea of, "Everything has changed; absolutely nothing's changed." Kinda like no matter how much everything around you changes, you're still you.
@RyanLendt6 ай бұрын
No idea why I have this idea but I think it’s chains. Everything has chains. That’s true regardless of whether or not it’s the lyric 😀

Originally, Eddie came over to my place he's like I got this new song called "polyester leopard print pants" he plays it, and I'm like bro that's a cool song just call it corduroy instead. The rest is history.

I feel like Corduroy is a song that I could've written and likely would've said "Oh man, this is way too basic for anyone to like it" and never played it again. This is why Pearl Jam is Pearl Jam.

You're a maple neck guy? Really?
@RyanLendt6 ай бұрын
I have 19 guitars. I don’t know what you’re insinuating but one neck is a rather small sample size I’d say
@sdriza6 ай бұрын
@RyanLendt sorry man, admiration and stream of consciousness commenting on my part - I just bought a Telecaster kit and chose rosewood over maple.... (and then realized out of the 12+ guitars I own, I don't have a single maple neck.... and every telecaster image I am seeing is maple.... I have multiple ebony, etc...) Then you popped up with one of my favorite PJ songs - as if mocking my obviously incorrect neck choice.... not insinuating anything - delirious from lack of sleep - love the lessons, you've got the best catalog/coverage
@RyanLendt6 ай бұрын
:) perhaps i mis-interpreted. anyhow - I'm not terribly particular about neck material - and I recently got a guitar with a roasted maple neck and that thing is fire!
@sdriza6 ай бұрын
@RyanLendt Thanks man! That's just it - I have never really thought about it one way or another (I really don't think it has much, if any, impact on overall tone...) But then I had to decide between the two for the kit.... I kinda haphazardly picked Rosewood without much thought - and I have been bombarded with "maple neck" stuff ever since... so, kinda funny, ironic when it popped up in video... But that is probably way too much info - have loved your videos for a long time - the "campfire" angle is also amazingly relevant and overlooked by everyone else on KZbin!!! sometimes people just want a rough approximation of the song (same vibe/tune) so that they can sing over it and party.... plus learn a couple small chord embellishments and can keep it fresh... in any event, keep punching out the awesome content!!!!
