Jeff needs to be knighted. His name should be up there with all the great poets of this world. He is a musical genius, no doubt at all. I thank the heavens above that l got to be here at the same time as Jeff and ELO. A witness to this beautiful, humble, non assuming man's greatness. I don't believe there is anyone better. The mastery is amazing! There is something very spiritual and beautiful about this man. Don't forget Russell Mael of Sparks ! He is 74 and his voice is as good as it was in 1974 . No lowering of tone and still gets up to those high notes . Must have singing lessons to keep his voice in tip top condition ? Having never been a smoker would also help .

You know i’d always thought that the bass line for this song was done on a keyboard with a harpsichord type sound and was astonished a few months ago when i came across various originals (ELO) and cover versions where the bass player was doing it! Now i’ve been playing bass many years but I’m of a very average standard but can play most straightforward pop and rock songs but when i tried this.....well it’s a completely different higher level! You’ve got have i would imagine tremendous built up strength and fluidity in your playing to do that! I’m just amazed really. And so many bass players can do it. I don’t know what else to say really except i’m uselss lol.

Hi Paul, did you notice the Lee plays left handed but the guitar is strung right handed, so he’s playing back to front and upside down, check him out on U tube playing Yes songs with Jon Anderson, Rick Wakeman And Trevor Rabin....AWR. He’s a joy to watch as well as listen to....Take care.

He has stated that his only musical influences were Lennon and McCartney, in my opinion, his output after the Beatles split is far superior to McCartney's (I'm not talking record sales, I'm talking songs that will be remembered a hundred or more years from now). Lennon is on a different level when it comes to that.

Correct Sir, I read that on their first tour to Australia which I saw in 77. I still have the ticket stub. The similarities with Lennon Mcartney are impossible to ignore but the arrangements are far superior certainly to anything the beatles did in their subsequent careers.
