Just watched it with my daughter, showing her the Fiore techniques I taught her put in actual use. When Sonia readied that stick with her knife behind her back, she said "that's gonna hurt" :-)

I can not express how much I enjoyed this. The fight choreography was slowed down enough to be able to tell a story. But not so much, as to be cliché. This story felt real and impacted. Like how when the guy in armour appeared. The younger fighers were intimated, and the grizzled veteran met his opponent calm and calculated. All the fighters just felt human, nothing over glorified. In a way simplistic yet, Exhilarating.

Fiore approves it! One of the most realistic sword fight in cinema history. No cuts through armour. Fighters use everything, that can brings victory - daggers, pommel, wrestling.

Well, yes, but actually no) The camera work spoils the impression a little, plus for some reason all the movements looks "fake", not in full speed, not accented, IMHO. This is obvious even when comparing this film with other videos of the authors of the film, for example, where they showed techniques in HEMA. So this is not the best fencing in the history of cinema, but it's still cool.

@@XonixDerps My guess would be effects and shortcomings in direction due to the length of the video. Not that it's badly directed, but keeping a sense of unity in the film cuts when displaying multiple fights is HARD. Most Hollywood movies fail at it. The spectator, subconsciously, will always try to make sense of space and time. The (hard) job of the director is to allow that with ease. There's also the notion of choreography that plays in it. The bigger it gets (and this one is far beyond the scope of a single duel) the harder it gets. matter of coordination, logistics, reshoots for different angles and splitting the recording to make it fit.... that's entering the editor's territory after filming. As for effects: they were lightly protected for the purpose of the video. Which changes the choreography as well. They have a duty to themselves and their fellow performers for safety first and foremost. Their Fiore series allowed them more protection, and, being shorter videos, also allowed for a set of camera triks that hid the finality of most moves. Longer media makes you use a bigger variety of angles (so as to not bore the audience), making you run out of the few tricks you can use to hide. They also don't enjoy thousand-dollar safe props and cgi. For showmanship, they also sacrificed probable for feasable. Which is ok by me, even if it might make die-hards frown (which is understandable to a degree) All in all it's still a worthy piece of media in what they were trying to accomplish.

Honestly, I didn't expect much, but that was genuinely good. I thought it will be one of those fancy swordfighting thingies with not enough story to make me care. Needless to say, I was positively surprised. There is just enough plot to make the whole thing move forward, the fighting scenes do not overshadow it all, there is some character development and it's simply a good job. Gratulacje, panie i panowie. Oby tak dalej!

Guys, it's a nice video and I can only imagine how interesting experience was to film it, when (I assume) all of you are training HEMA together and thus know each other well. I've met some of you in tournaments and as far as I remember you destroyed me every time :-) But I can't help myself not to have some criticism. As a bowyer myself, some of the archery diplay was a little hard on the eyes. It's not very good compared to the fencing shown - it's very clear you know how medieval fighting should look like, but archery perhaps not so much. Most of the arrows (the close-up ones) have too short feathers, no binding and are somewhat thin. The lady's bow is also very out of date, it has an insert where the arrows goes and thick tips - it looks like a fiberglass bow. Medieval bows had a substantial taper towards the tips (just as most sword blades) and no nocking assist or handle. The shooting also looks weird, I'm sorry to say again, especially on the lady's part. She draws the bow inconsistently, too short, in front of her face instead of next to it, with weaker shoulder position. The release at 14:13 is probably the worst part - elbow down, all four finger around the string, thumb next to the string, easing the draw before release, a big jerk on the string. Bows strong enough to penetrate gambesons or let alone maille, and wound the person wearing it, demand substantial physical effort to draw. Untrained man could not do it, let alone woman. Strength and technique is required, just the same as to deliver a strong cut with a sword, and unfortunately neither is shown here. I'm writing all this in an effort to help you with making better videos, not to put you down. I still enjoyed the movie overall. Plase check out the channel "The Way of Archery", he's very impressive archer, but mainly he has great explanatory videos about drawing heavy bows (no matter if they're European or Asian). Good day! Ondrej thank you for your feedback. It's true didn't have enought equipement and budget to do it 100% like we wanted. Among us there is only one proffesional archer - Michał Solecki, and the rest of our actors didn't have enought skills to show it as you described. There is always something to improve and we will. So next time we'll consult it with you :)

@@akademiaszermierzy1105 That would of course be honor for me :-) I would rather recommend you someone from your country, but I'm not familiar with Polish warbow community... Also I understand the budget issues and that nothing will ever be perfect. Most people probably did not recognize these little issues that I've noticed. The movie mostly contains hand-to-hand combat and that's what you were probably most concerned with, and also what the audience mostly looks for. But it would be awesome, if the archery stuff would be on the same level as the sword stuff :D
