I never understood the criticism of Dr. K for the spiritual stuff, I feel like the only people who complain about that are people who have never been to therapy. The first conversation I had with mine was about whether or not I was religious or spiritual and wanted to include that in my therapy. The last time I talked to her she specifically mentioned the one Dr. K does as a possibility because she's getting training on it. It's very normal for them to bring up spiritual shit and use it if you're comfortable doing it. Unlike actual medical shit, a lot of therapy works if you think it's gonna work, there aren't many things that work regardless, so your beliefs are important to the process.
@lunarlegacy37627 ай бұрын
Plus it's super important because therapy is about getting you better and how that looks is completely dependant on the person. So having the conversation about spirituality and western style medicine covers all potential bases and gives people options

Absolutely true. When it comes to therapy, if it works then stick with it. It's really fucking hard to find a style of therapy that works for you as an individual. A lot of people are really uncomfortable with pretending to love themselves and the more they force themselves to think nice thoughts about themselves, the more likely that are to unintentionally think nasty thoughts about themselves, purely because their attention is being forcefully drawn inwards. Some people just react very negatively to certain things that are always forced on you in therapy and it's super annoying when people insist on this boxed and strict understanding of therapy. The reality is, our personalities are all different and what works best for us is probably extremely specific

If you're perplexed at a guy like twomad not evoking sympathy, you don't understand the most basic human behaviour. Trolls die unmourned; why would anyone expect anything different? That's not to say that the truth is unimportant because the subject is contemptible: the truth always matters. But you can't expect people to feel sorry for a guy who enjoyed making people miserable. And if they don't feel sorry for him, they'll tend to feel indifference about an injustice done to him. It's just how humans operate.
@xokirei7 ай бұрын
you lack the self awareness to even address what they are talking abt as they are having a conversation about this type of dismissiveness. "If you're perplexed at a guy like twomad not evoking sympathy, you don't understand the most basic human behaviour."- not what he said at all, full stop. he's not perplexed by the lack of sympathy, NOR is he even saying two mad is deserving of it. his entire point is that he considers his video content to be "journalism", so he's bothered by the idea that the dissent on this topic (from his pov) boils down to "you're not allowed to investigate people like this". i haven't seen those tweets or the videos myself so I'm just taking him at his word, but if his framing of it is true then he's absolutely correct about the observations and implied conclusions he's discussing with destiny, dan, and kelly. it's crazy to me that you could watch that whole segment and come away saying asinine shit like "That's not to say that the truth is unimportant because the subject is contemptible: the truth always matters. But you can't expect people to feel sorry for a guy who enjoyed making people miserable. And if they don't feel sorry for him, they'll tend to feel indifference about an injustice done to him," as if you're selectively hearing what they're saying? do you realise there are a handful of *reasonable* outcomes you could come away with from his investigation is that the people that hate twomad could be more JUSTIFIED in their hatred of him if the accusations were properly sourced and defended? that's just as likely an outcome and if that was the outcome it wouldn't matter to him anyway because he's more concerned with reaching a conclusion than whatever the context of the conclusion is. "that's just how humans operate" is not and will never be a good response, or defense, to dishonest narratives and lacking accountability for supporting claims. it does not make sense on any level to be so close minded towards journalistic integrity and investigate processes. saying shit like " they'll tend to feel indifference about an injustice done to him." is literally just hearing what you want to hear; on the flipside of that outcome is the potential for more light to be shed that could substantiate the claims beyond a reasonable doubt, which in turn would make even more people rightfully hate him, and provide some level of closure for people affected that have felt disenfranchised or unheard.

I am in grad school becoming a therapist. I don't hate Dr. K, but he puts the cart before the horse when he talks about eastern medical concepts, their validity, reliability, and their application in the modern medical contemporary environment. In his conversation with Dr. Mike him wanting to start individual and go bigger doesn't work in modern medical care, we would need to fundamentally change healthcare before we could even consider that. It is harder to start small and go big than it is to do it the other way. I even agree with parts, not all psychiatric or therapeutic modalities work for everyone, but they work for a vast majority of people and in a managed care setting (which most healthcare is now) it makes sense.

I’ve learned that recently looking through all the private ones in my area there are plenty that offer some odd methods.

This is pretty good for Tom as a creator. He's had controversies before but never on this scale, so this should give him a good experience. Also, he's surrounded by people more experienced and he seems to be absorbing that pretty well.

Kelly Jean trying to parse together questions based on not knowing anything and trying to introduce as much doubt to Turkey Tom as she can to then end up at "if you're worried of criticism just don't get involved" it's just humorous. Thanks KJ. We know in your mind it doesn't sound so bleak but you don't lead us astray.

Vaping does the same thing with cigarettes tho and you can do the same exact thing dan said. Go from a 6 mg juice to a 3mg juice, then you can potentially special order a 1mg juice, super hard to find, or just cut down to a 0. After you get the nicotine buzz out of your system, you could swap to a juice that just tastes absolutely horrible to you, and drop it. But either way, first time I smoked a cig after like ~3 months of vaping. was the worst thing I've ever tasted in my life. It was horrible. Smoked cigs for about 10~ years before I swapped to vaping too heh. Also as much as vaping is "gay" (f`ck disposables tho). It makes you smell amazing, women love it.

Saying that making others hate you is just your sense of humor, is almost never accurate. It's more likely people like this just want/need attention, and they'll take whatever they can get. I've never heard of this guy before, but it honestly sounds like we are better off without him.

47:50 I agree 100% with smoking but vaping definitely doesn’t have that same effect unfortunately. As someone who used to smoke unfiltered, I can’t stand any cigarettes anymore unless it’s menthol but even then it’s still nausea inducing.

Fuck that ozone shit just either do a full detail yourself (scrub headliners, carpets, treat the seats if leather, clean every nook and cranny etc), or pay a pro to do it. That's how ya kill off smoke smell. Even if you do use an ozone you still need to detail the interior

One thing that a lot of people forget and most importantly people like Turkey Tom is, that even though he does know who Twomad was and what is taken for granted, people that engage with his content sometimes do not. When someone that doesn't know who Turkey Tom is and who have a pretty clear view of one of the things that Twomad did and they see a video defending Twomad for 45 minutes with only occasional bits where he admits Twomad is a bad person or Twomad has done some stupid stuff, then no shit they will feel like Turkey is defending that person. If Turkey Tom wants to deal with these groups of people, he should make his videos in such ways that his opinion is actively stated and not assumed. Instead of making 45 minutes of defending the one crazy shit he didn't do, make 1:30 hour video of stating all his bullshitery and the one thing that he is blamed on, yet he is likely not guilty of.

I think people need to look into private therapy in their area a bit more and they will realize it’s not as out of the ordinary as they think. There is a diverse range of things people offer in that practice and some of it strays far away from more conclusive and scientifically accepted methods like CBT. I’m not saying I agree with some of it or that I’d pay a therapist who leaned heavily on that kind of stuff but it’s out there. My sense with K is that if you payed him and asked him to leave the spiritual stuff out of the session he is someone who would happily oblige.
@EpicFaCe4417 ай бұрын
@@ultimatedespairgamer6722 idk what that has to do with what I said. I said nobody gives a fuck about that. Just cuz it’s bad doesn’t mean people care enough to hate him over it. There are a lot of bad things you could do and nobody would hate on you just because they don’t care.

Dan is right about quitting cigs. A little over a year after my quit I tried to smoke again. Took one puff and it was disgusting. Never took another. Getting completely back to normal after quitting takes way longer than people realize. If you’ve only quit for a few months at a time, you’ve only scratched the surface of benefits from quitting.

I wanna quit vaping cause I picked it up as a fix for anxiety but I found that my anxiety is doubled when I stop. Any suggestions? Also I find it nice to have cause I eat sunflower seeds but those have something I have to dispose of when I’m done eating and a vape I can just put it in my pocket so I’m trying to find something I can just have in my mouth if that makes sense
