It's also worth noting that an experiment done in NJ regarding adding low-income housing to a suburban neighborhood found that there was no difference in property values or crime rates. @@roywiseman Go look up the origin of the term "cultural Marxism" and how it is basically an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory peddled by the far-right for decades and now made mainstream within the GOP after Trump came to power. "Cultural Marxism" is a commonly used term that says that every institution in the US has been infiltrated by Marxists. It directly comes from the term used by the Nazi Party in Germany called "cultural Bolshevism." The only difference between this and the full white nationalist conspiracy theory is that white nationalists say the Jews are behind it while mainstream Republicans don't really believe that. Look at Black Pilled YT channel and the man behind it, Devon Stack. Look at his book "Day of the Rope." He's a full fledged neo-Nazi, and his book is just a re-write of the "Turner Diaries." Look up The Red Elephants' interview with Devon Stack and how they talk like buddies. Look up Black Pigeon Speaks and see him recommend Devon Stack's YT channel. Look at all the similarity between literal neo-Nazi propaganda and what now passes as mainstream ideas within the Trumpist GOP on shows like Sean Hannity and Tucker Carlson. Isn't it weird how George Soros is suddenly the scape goat for everything now? Isn't it weird that a lot of Trump supporters praise Vladimir Putin because "he's a traditionalist and staunch champion of Christianity?" Isn't it weird that Putin hates Soros and had a conversation with Trump about him in Helsinki? So why is there a pro-Putin message and anti-Soros message now? Isn't it weird that Trump says not to trust the media, even Fox News now apparently? If we can't trust the press, who can we trust? Who becomes the arbiter of truth? Trump? Isn't that a bit self-serving? Look up the "Rope. Tree. Journalist" shirt that has been seen multiple times at Trump rallies, and NO ONE SAYS ANYTHING TO THEM ABOUT IT. It is a literal incitement to violence, and if it ever came to pass would be the death knell for any semblance of the American Republic. Open your eyes and see what these people are really about. It should make you feel physically ill what is going on. Trump is setting in motion what he needs to obtain absolute power in the country, and his most ardent supporters are already suggesting that Trump should get a 3rd or 4th term to make up for the impeachment. Doesn't that sound self-serving and dangerous? It sure as hell does sound that way to me.

Also a recognition of issues in our country doesn’t mean you hate your country. Otherwise every political party would hate their country.

America is crazy. Recently, a friend came back early from the USA because he was working for a few months at a kids camp. Was struggling with depression and went to the camp leaders to inform them of this, and he might have to leave soon. Later that night police came to him with their guns on him, and shouted they would shoot him in the head if he didn't get on his knees. Eventually, he was handcuffed, arrested, and taken to a psych hospital where he was locked up for 24 hours. He then came back to the UK and has been enjoying liberty and understanding whenever he has a bad day, ever since. That is insane and inexcusable, and he is white. America really needs to understand that heavy hand tactics are unbelievably primitive and belong to history. Police have seen too many movies.

I'd love to see any proof of all the hangings and shootings that are so troubling some very prominent people - anything that happened last year should be easy to find. After all, lynchings should make the news, right? How about, there is evidence that 9 unarmed Black people were shot last year by police. Not uncounted. Not unknown hundreds. 9. Or maybe, the "illegal" gun being carried by "The Kenosha Killer" was not illegal, was used appropriately, and the guy was actually there to protect individually owned property from rioters, looters, and arsonists *and* to provide EMT care for anyone needing it. There are reports that he treated several people among the "peaceful Protestors" before he gave water to the police (in the summer time? What wacko gives out a bottle of water to someone who might be thirsty?), and was then attacked by BLM "peaceful Protestors". I would love to see the referents, proof, something from somewhere that might help me to understand why so many people are determined to destroy everything in front of them. Small businesses are failing; people are losing irreplaceable bits of history. Why? I have yet to see anyone purporting to support BLM, or any of the protests that isn't involved in destroying something. Is there any evidence that they are capable of building? Of creating? I haven't seen it, and I've been looking. All I've seen is a bunch of people who go out to riot and loot, who destroy lives and cities, and who make statements that terrify any reasonable person. Alright. St Louisan here. The McCloskeys were - unsurprisingly - terrible before all of this. They undermined their own story of events that lead to them threatening protesters, which isnt too shocking considering witnesses and video refute their claims too; liescan be hard to keep up when you give a marathon of interviews. They have a history of being aggressively territorial. One night, Mrs. McCloyskey shot from a window at a woman (who lived in their neighborhood) crossing a piece of land the McCloyskeys claimed to own. The ownership of the land was contested, but she still felt entitled enough to fire a weapon at someone for being on it. They sue people over property so much they've sued their own family. They also went to court to try to stop unmarried (by which they meant gay) couples from moving into the neighborhood, so Trump's "I'll save the suburbs" bit probably feels quite natural to them. Another time, the synagogue by them put beehives along their north wall as part of their children's program and the McCloyskey's choice on how to handle the matter was to just destroy them. So, if you see anyone defending them or come across any remnants of their "well we are actually democrats and social justice advocates" facade (it crumbled early on), take it from someone who immediately researched what i could about them and their neighborhood they day it happened: they've always been nasty people who will fire a gun over property alone.

@DECIMUS MAXIMUS First of all, chillax. Second of all, if you think just because you see someone on disputed land it's alright to shoot someone over it, your views might be a bit worrying. Im not saying that they aren't allowed to protect their property, but when it isn't even fully theirs yet and they decide to escalate the situation from 0 to a hot 100, that's when they enter crazy zone. And that crazy zone becoming normalized is very detrimental to society, It becomes an endorsement for fatal violence as a solution to issues which could be solved by other means, it ends up in unnecessary violence.

"One step closer to government led health care" How is this even a negative point??? This still baffles me. Edit: Wow this caught some attention. Thank you all for keeping the comments mostly civil so far. There's a ton of nuances that make it so that healthcare will be a very tricky thing to get right. While free market logic might be an interesting concept, it's much like the issue with telecom companies. There are several across the country, but chances are only one of them provides service to your area. Medication is like that, and insurance covers certain medications selectively. Then the fact that insurance companies make and interpret their own rules... John Q was a movie pushing this to the extreme. The genetic opera is another which shows a 'free market' of healthcare. A more real world example would be how much a medical bill drops when you ask for an itemised bill. Because no one wants to see a bandaid for $100 on their bill.

If nothing else, it helps with consciousness raising. Our society is in very real danger right now; there is a great deal of injustice that absolutely has to be rectified. I don't particularly care who makes the first move, but it certainly seems that the republicans have no intention of changing anything. They seem to be more concerned with keeping the status quo at all costs rather than embracing the kinds of change we need. For that reason alone, I feel like the republican party has totally failed America, and it's time to sunset that entire political party. We do need people to advocate for conservation and personal liberty, but that's not what the republican party seems to be anymore.

@WomenAreIdiots Uh huh, sure. Btw, you can support social change in the USA while also supporting similar change in China. I stand with Hong Kong and with BLM in fighting against fascism. You can't say "we can't fix America because there are worse countries in the world that need to be fixed first." That kind of thinking doesn't bring about change. Also, here is my analogy for why that is wrong. You know how in an airplane you are told to put your oxygen mask on first and then help other people? The reason you are told to do that is because you can't help other people if you are incapacitated yourself. So how about we take care of ourselves first and then we can get to work on bringing positive change everywhere? And along the way, we can still stand with Hong Kong and do something about it, okay?
