@@tinasmith7630I'm not questioning you in a rude way- it comes from a place of wanting to better understand. What do you mean when you say it's "telling". Like she struggles with her own self-worth, trying to disconnect from others/ herself/ her struggles or something else? I might have missed something. Thanks in advance.

I’m glad they have a place to feel heard. These moments are mini therapy sessions for them. She’s so hurt and sad, the eyes say it best! And this is the same woman that also goes about it, taking her pain, and transferring it to Martin/Jonathan! I pray for them both, to be ready for change!!! Only they can make the steps forward, to the help offered 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

I'm glad someone else views them- the people lost in their addiction and/or homelessness as complex individuals who need help and to be heard. With her and Martin talking about some of the areas where they "get stuck," it might help in thinking more rationally and ending the feedback loop in their mind that makes the idea of getting clean seem even more enormous. It's good to be able to talk through this stuff with someone who will listen and can lend sound advice or at least challenge their thoughts.

180°, but I agree with you. It's a long process to try to heal wounds from within. But in her and even Martin continuing to open up, it could be what they need to give them that true desire and strength to get out of this cycle. Both aren't happy and I think there is desire and now more hope and confidence that they deserve and can do more.

Thank you, Art, for treating them like the complex individuals that they are. Everyone needs to be heard, to hope that others will take what they say into consideration, and even have their thinking errors and plans challenged. They're probably used to hearing and speaking to an echo chamber of other addicts who are also overwhelmed and not sure how to take that enormous first step to get help. It's not okay for her to treat Martin the way she does at times. Being a caretaker for another person can be grueling- and she's dealing with addiction and possible mental illness on top of it. Again, it doesn't make what she did okay, but it likely comes from an emotional and helpless place. You say you're planting seeds, Art, and I believe that's true. I'm hopeful that 1 day they'll be reaching out for help to truly get healthy, become clean, remain in recovery and hopefully rebuild some kind of healthy relationship with their kids and family who are safe to do so. Every single one of the people interviewed matter. Thank you again for showing them kindness, care and consistency they likely haven't had for some time now. Helping them challenge their thoughts and thinking errors can be what they need to finally reach out for help. *Also, thanks to those who donated. ❤ *I don't think it's ever too late for her to become a Phlebotomist, and that would be a great career choice. Phlebotomists are needed in so many different occupations/ circumstances. You can do this, LaTanya/ LaTaryn/ LaTaran! (hope I spelled that right?)

I agree with you. Those negative comments drive me crazy and I'm known for being a realist or some would even call me pessimist. I can at least recognize that every one of these humans have depth and they're not JUST their addiction and/or being homeless. Most people who end up using substances suffer with complex trauma/ CPTSD. Thank you for being kind and considerate of what they may be going through. If it was easy to get clean, we wouldn't have these interviews in the 1st place. Being a caretaker (even for someone you love) can be difficult, even in the most ideal situation. I hope they'll both decide to seek treatment for themselves, each other if it's healthy, and of course their kids and family that aren't part of the problem. When I get a chance and don't have a migraine, I'll try to see if/ where there's free therapy/ group sessions in Phoenix. I'm just not sure what locations would be close enough for these individuals on the streets. If anyone knows, can you help in giving me a general idea? Thanks in advance. ❤

@@leneo1731 unfortunately you often don’t see abusive people. Outside and to others they ate often very kind and funny and everyone Ioves them. But “behind close doors” if no one sees them they abuse their spouse and/or other family members. I don’t know who tells the truth in this case and as hard that it may sound the abused part often have themselves big problems or were abused at some point that is why they abuse. No sane person abuses someone. For sure is that no one should be abused and that an abused person should never stay by its abuser but they often do. I hope both get the help that they need with their addiction (I am addicted too unfortunately) and I hope that if one of them abuses, the abuser will get help and that the abused one has the strength and courage to leave and to report the abuser. It’s not and never okay to abuse other people although the abuser often has deep rooted problems her/hisself.

I'm in agreeance with most of what you said. I don't think anyone should be given up on, but it makes sense to scale/dial back the amount of effort at times. It is really sad to see those comments bc those battling addiction and homelessness are already hard on themselves and often struggle immensely with shame. Shame can contribute to not feeling worthy or deserving enough to get better.

@@dianahorton8753 It's more than that, that's simplifying it way too much. Her eyes show her specific story and the trauma and horrific things she has been through in life. I have seen many drug addicts on blues who don't give off that kind of sadness or hopelessness, they didn't have that extreme trauma and depression like her, no where near that level at least. At that time I blamed my ex for everything. Fuck (sorry for the language), but Fuck I could have seriously killed him at times. I was soooo angry with him because I felt that he was the one that got me into the hell hole I was living, but at the same time he was all I had. Eventually I had to come to terms that I was where I was at, because of one person only, and that person being me. Once I was able to do that I was able to get help for myself.

Thank you for sharing your story. It makes a lot of sense as far as the resentment goes. I imagine it's hard for her to also essentially be a caretaker when she can barely care for herself. It might also be the only thing that keeps her going. I wish ppl better understood trauma-bonds and codependency before making judgements that either one of them are simply JUST evil and manipulative. I imagine they're not that way, or at least not to that extreme prior to struggling with addiction.

@JustJ-Me
@JustJ-Me Жыл бұрын
I agree that she shouldn't be doing that. Imo, they're both very sick- whether it's due to mental illness or addiction, or both. We have only seen what she's done to Martin (which again is not okay in any way and it isn't justified). We also don't know what he may be doing or saying to her. Because I'm not with them 24/7, don't know them or their circumstances fully, and have only seen part of the picture, I reserve putting all of the blame on her solely. Both are probably aɓüṣıvé in some way to one another and both choose to remain with each other. Trauma-bonding and Codependency have many layers and aren't that easy to undo. With that said, if the police arrest her for "azzault" or battery or whatever, then I think it's absolutely a fair consequence. I'm just saying we've only seen one side of @büsẹ and that if she's being @büsẹɗ, it might not be as apparent and in our faces. Hopefully both can break free from the toxic cycle they're caught up in.

Bless your soul Art 💞💯🙏 I commend you for the compassion & love you have in your heart. Not only do you go out and interview the lost in Phoenix you don't treat them the way many others do. Ngl it made me sad when you asked her "when was the last time you were happy" 💔 it made me think of my own life for a split second. I put myself right where she was & my heart cried. I just wanna say Thank you for sharing these videos & thank you for being you. ❤🙏💯

I was so glad to see Lataran do an interview and open up a little. Like others, I’ve always felt that she is in need of support, love, care and compassion just as much as Jonathan. Although I totally understand, due to physical needs, Jonathan’s need is more immediate. I don’t want to bash the family as many families have to walk away from an addicted family member when they can see they are not ready to get clean as it must be so soul destroying to watch them fall apart. Part of me feels like Jonathan’s family may have only got in touch because people they know are seeing the videos, so they want to look like they’ve reached out. I think Lataran may have got emotional when Art mentioned Jonathan’s family as maybe she wished that her family members would reach out. I believe that people self medicate because they cannot deal with the trauma they have suffered in life. I think Lataran has a story to tell and I think it would be really good for her to open up and start telling that story. When you talk about difficult times, whilst it can be a difficult thing to do it, it can release some of the hold it has over you. It can be very spiritually freeing. I hope that Lataran makes a firm decision to stop being physically abusive to Jonathan as it’s not acceptable at all, no matter what. To me, it shows she’s hurting deeply and taking it out on someone who can’t defend themselves physically and that is just cruel. Having said that, I’ve always had empathy for her and always wished her just as much love and peace as I have Jonathan. I feel like she’s a broken, lost spirit that has been down the path she is on for so long that she can’t see any way out. This is why these interviews are so great because they open the window to change the path a little by allowing people to tell their story.

His family isn't responsible for their life choices. They've dealt with this longer than this KZbin content. They are responsible for their own actions and life chouces, especially if you burn bridges. Maybe there was dysfunction, but his family members aren't counselors just concerned. If the bridges are burned from Martin's drugged out perspective its not fair to talk negatively about his family without knowing them or the real story.

Lataryn don’t allow your past keep causing self destruction. Work your way above the pain that it has caused you. Don’t allow the painful past control you today. Your past is keeping you down, learn to put it behind you so you can flourish. The addiction is damaging your organs slowly. You should trust in Art to guide you in the right direction to back on the right path, before your organs start failing due to the addiction. You deserve a better life. I hope you find your strength, to heal everyday to get above your current situation ❤.

Prove to them that you two can be better. God can get you through this if you believe. Ask God to give you the strength to go into a facility to get your body back in shape. Don't give up. There are people that care about you that aren't family. You and Jonathan are both good people I can see it. As I said to Jonathan, please pray and put your hands in God's hands. When you have no one else...God is always with us. I am praying for you. Peace and blessings to you. I will continue to pray for you.

Good example. It is like mind control or brain washing. When you're in deep, you can't just decide to beat it just like that, or very very rarely. It also makes you weak mentally, even if you're a really strong person normally.

@billj4525 my doctor once spoke on the chemical changes that happen in the nervous system and brain to make someone physically so dependent on them. After teaching this he stopped and said, basically at this point, the drug is pointing a gun at their head ensuring they will do absolutely anything to avoid what will happen if they don't get that fix.

I believe that. People have a hard time making good and healthy choices when their nervous system is constantly wired to be in survival mode. I think (and have been told by professionals) that mental illness alone can contribute to making poor choices and not being able to think clearly/ be able to make decisions, especially healthy ones. Constantly being in survival mode can rewire your brain and body in such a way that it's insanely difficult to change and especially if you don't have the right kind of support and assistance. I figure most who are "Lost" are stuck in these circumstances for the same reasons those above me mentioned. Hopefully, others can come to realize that it's not as easy to just make the change. I know just from my own place of trauma, that I have difficulty making good decisions for myself. My brain literally fights against every positive thing I want to do. It's like having your own brain gaslight you all day every day until you don't know what's truly good or bad for you. It's created so much doubt within you that you no longer trust your ability to make good decisions, even if it could majorly improve your circumstances and change your life for the better. It's wicked to say the least. 😔❤️‍🩹

I agree that we're not "owed" that info. If she wants to give it up, that's up to her. I defended Martin not wanting to reveal his real name bc I'm sure they have their own personal reasons for doing so. They shouldn't be pressured in one way or another, but if she wants to give it up then that's her choice. We are strangers, like you said. When ppl ask Art how they can get ahold of or find the, ppl he essentially tells them off and understands why they need to be protected.

Honestly their family should be extended some grace because at the end of the day they’re raising their kids and let’s be real these two are exhausting. Just as a viewer it’s been a rollercoaster so I could only imagine what it’s like to actually be a relative. I think they reached out because they saw how bad Martin’s condition had gotten as most people would be alarmed estranged or not. He’s deteriorating fast, so for someone who hasn’t seen him in years when he had weight and probably no wheelchair I’m sure it’s shocking.Yes they were absent, but them reaching out should not be picked apart.

Having had so many addicts in & out of my life, I agree and think LaTanya and Martin are coming from a place that might be even deeper-rooted in hurt than their addiction and/or their addiction is contributing to the resentment, selfishness, etc. The relatives should also not be attacking Art for trying to help, either.

I agree, it's never too late. I was a daily addict of for 11 years straight, using fentanyl, cocaine, and alcohol, and now have been clean for 8 years straight. I moved to a different state and came off high dose methadone and came off fentanyl as well, cold turkey. I didn't know where to get drugs or anyone who did them, which is why I went cold turkey after moving. It was unbelievable misery and torture, but i'm so happy today that I went through it. Felt like it would NEVER END when going through it. I would typically moan, scream, and cry in severe agony and pain, both mentally and physically. Took about a month before I felt considerably better. After that I was still very depressed and anxious with extreme insomnia and other issues, and I just gradually felt mentally better after that for the next year or so. Years later I now live in my beautiful home with my beautiful family. I workout and lift weights every day, my health and strength is amazingly great. I'm on no medications drugs or alcohol ever. I got to a very good place, but it took work. Gradual steps, and now my life is great. I believe it's never too late either. I have a friend who was addicted to drugs who's now a multi millionaire. He has the craziest story I have ever heard of. One day I'll tell that one too. Anyone can change their life and the circumstances of it. You have to want it, and you have to try and keep trying. You can do it, don't give up. I have a degree in psychology from college, and went back to school for computer science myself in my mid 30s. My father suggested it, he worked as a computer programmer his whole life. I like your comment about going back to school, because I have always told people the same thing, and I have done it myself.

Hey @LostInPhoenix 👋🏻 Hope you're having a good day. :) I know you don't like to say where individuals in Phx are, and for good reason. I'm wondering if you can give me a general idea of the area so I can try to do some research and try to find free therapeutic individual and group services. I imagine there are a lot of people interning who need hours and I would think there's ppl/ places who can offer therapy based on a sliding scale/ low to no cost. I may need 1 or 2 general locations that might be convenient, so I know where to search- places/areas that will be most accessible to them. Thanks in advance either way. Take care ❣️

This is so deep. Sure, she says she’s looking to protect her identity…but she didn’t just give a random name, she chose her sisters name. Sounds a lot deeper. Maybe because of the shame she brought, it’s easier for her to dissociate by using her sisters name….or maybe she’s looking to live vicariously through her sister. No matter what, both her and Martin/Jonathan are deeply wounded people and I pray they get the help they need.
