Hey tom took a number 2 drop shot hook and rigged up some cat fish hair rigs. Fished them on a float rig with cut mackerel. My hook up rate increased dramatically. Every fish lip hooked.

I live in upper East Tennessee. Gizzard an threading shad are best here

Can't say I ever targeted catfish in the fall. But you got me thinking!. Keep those lines tight

I love those cold water cats!

Nice video Tom. We don’t have shad in our local lakes so live bluegills are my favorite bait fish for cats (although I have more luck with a blue cheese bread dough that I make). I have a real problem with dead/cut gills in that I catch as many turtles as catfish on them! I suppose that turtles are dormant by this time of year, but do you have any issues with them during the warmer months?
@OutsidewithTom11 ай бұрын
Yep, turtles are always part of the equation. One of the many reasons why I like cold water catfishing.

Those were some good looking cats Tom. Why would the wind change kill the bite?? Thanks for the video
@OutsidewithTom11 ай бұрын
Hard to know for sure. My guess is that the wind change killed the bite on that side of the lake, but likely started a bite on the opposite side. The wind moves the plankton and everything else follows.

That makes sense, I would never of thought of that, from watching your videos I am learning there is a lot more to fishing than just throwing a line into the water with a worm on the end of a hook. @@OutsidewithTom
