I don't really understand what teal in game one meant when he said Turin had a "free game", turin killed the guy next to him and teal killed the guy next to him and then they fought eachother so I don't get how turin had a free game and teal didn't when they essentially had the same game up until that point lol I think he got salty because turin attacked teal while he was skirmishing with prime, but it didn't appear prime was attacking him once he and turin started fighting so he wasn't getting 2v1. Weird dude

You are right with that the factions should not be balanced for free for all, but I feel like some free-for-all exclusive mod that gives every faction some kind of infinite gold/post imperial strength would make these games much more balanced and fun. I saw a mod that gives resources for every destroyed unit/building on another channel, something like that would also work nicely.

Do you have some tips for the Byzantines on the FFA? In this gameplay, I saw you were on the island but it is a really good spot for Byz. Each time I play them FFA I feel that they are super slow compared to other civs. Each time I lack in food or gold or wood and if only I don't find a godly spawn with all resources and no one attacks me for like 20 minutes I can do something. In the other scenario before I take wood to build farms and build any civ just smash me ;_; I didn't struggle as much with any civ I was playing so far.

They feel slow because they're much more micro-intensive early on. Always keep one vill on stone to get cisterns. Two are enough for early defense, spam outposts afterwards. If you know you're gonna have enough gold, spam catas. They are a win condition pretty much (avoid OOTD), 60 of them running around smash everything. Problem is early game, as you aim to mainly defend yourself, which is a problem since you want mixed up units and mercs cost initial gold and wood. Grand winery is great, you'll want a quick feudal farm transition. I build two rows of farms around it and additional TCs around as drop-offs. You can get up to 1900 food a minute plus olive oil in feudal with 32 farms which is ridiculous. Issue is getting to that point so rushing castle and getting ghulams is pretty viable. Limitenai are amazing early unit, you pop shield wall and 5 of them can easily take down outposts without losses. Javelins/longbows are good is you're facing anything but armor spam. For that you need early keshiks. If you're playing nomad, remember to check mercenaries in trading posts. Pretty much always go for 2 TCs in nomad. There really isnt much to it but learning all their various mechanics, its really hard to remember everything in the heat of the game. Also build your infra under influence of cisterns I see a lot of players just placing it outside of the range. The 5 cistern production speed is absolutely brutal for defending as all you need is 10 production buildings which print spears in 6 seconds (saves you alotta wood for outposts) which are another great thing with mango emplacements. I utilize them in every game and you'd be surprised how quickly HRE/OOTD maa spams crap their pants and run away. Also base building, keep stuff tight. Another thing is you can connect your aqueduct through stone walls so always stretch it out.

After I can reach catas + landsknechts it seems easy, same as spamable units in the cistern area but I met problems to reach this point when an enemy is close.

Only on first game and yea, obviously Teal was a bit trolly with that name and way salty but I will say I agree with what he was doing. There was no play to win from that scenario. It was only deciding who lost and he chose the guy elephant deep in his base. His deciding to ally with Turin would only have helped TURIN, not himself.

If you want an FFA to be quick, maybe consider banning the factions that are incentivised to turtle up for infinite resources. Limit it to Mongols, Malians etc
