I started 6 jars of brown rice for my first time. Used broke boy tech but also put the jars through pressure cooking. I boiled the rice, rinsed it with cold water and dried all the rice off with paper towels. All 6 jars did really well and are now in substrate. Been in substrate for about 4 days and everything looks good so far but anything could happen. I was super careful about being steril and used about a bottle full of alcohol inside a sterilized room, also inside a still air box. Im super paranoid being my first time but i think ive probably have taken the sterile part of things farther than i had to. But when you have to put the time, money and effort and wait as long as it does take, failure would be on the devastation side for me especially if i were to fail right of the bat. You know you can do it if you succeed the first time but if you fail, all you do is question where the hell you went wrong. I would be highly confused if i fail at this point because of doing grain to grain transfers that also came out really clean and how over the top i was with being extremely careful, sterile and clean. Overall though, it is definitely one of the most interesting and fun things ive ever tried. More people should learn about mushrooms because it is a pretty amazing thing to accomplish and all the medical benefits that so many species can provide for people. Its gonna be a medical breakthrough for sure. Pharmaceuticals are the real poison.

Nice dude, I'll be honest with you, I go way overboard with sterilization as well. I feel you can't be too careful, we put a lot into this hobby so failure really hurts. I agree if you can succeed your first time then that is a really positive sign that you will continue to succeed. Congrats. on your success, just know that contamination comes with the territory, the idea is to take all precautions and minimize it as much as possible. Happy growing dude 🍄🍄🫠

Getting into mycology i decided to not be concerned with contam unless i have it, after 4 grows of not caring about contam ive only had a couple of uncle bens + a couple of jars go bad which is not bad which is about 20% of what i have inoculated and grown, i beleive the contam is there from the beggining, i don't use gloves and just wash my hands with soap and water, its very rare for me to reach for alcohol, i handle the spawn and the bulk with my hands all the time with little contam, such an anti ocd when it comes to growing but it works for me

😳 that's craziness dude .. but hey whatever works, it's a good example of how easily you can succeed at this hobby.

Same but not to your level.. but same logic with growing bud too.. they put alcohol on scissors for everything in clones.. lol.. meanwhile im in a dusty ass room and dont even use alcohol to make cuttings.. its a good practice but its over kill most of the times.. shrooms it might be more needed but its still over kill as some people finish a whole bottle of alcohol in a single sesion lol..

The point of this video is to drive home the fact that you are, in fact, NEVER SAFE. Sleep tight now. 😳

They say popcorn is the worst to use…
@mycopsycho3130
@mycopsycho3130 Жыл бұрын
Naw, popcorn is cheap and readily available and very easy to use because you don't need to pressure cook it. And I've been doing mycology for several years now and my success rate with popcorn is about 96%. Of course rye berries are the best, but I can do about three times as many jars of popcorn for the cost (which is three times more full harvests). It's just not cost effective when comparing yield. I've never noticed a big enough difference between harvest weight to make rye berries worthwhile. The cost of losing a jar of popcorn is like 50¢.

Corn is very unstable

I think raw grains can be very unstable if not handled meticulously. The good thing about popcorn is it's cheap and very easy to sterilize. I don't get contamination often, it took 3 months to have enough contaminated jars for this video.
