Love your videos! No bs on your channel. Just catching fish. Great job

Hey Matt: There's just something hypnotic about the results you get. I think it is your minimalist approach: short rod, simple tackle, small handled net, not even a tether on your pliers. So many viewers like me are jealous and AMAZED.
@ndyakangler7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Larry! I cant believe nobody has commented to put a tether on the pliers yet! I guess the $15 for a new pliers every year or two when I drop it in is less of a headache than getting lures and everything else caught up in bungees all over the deck.

I'm jealous of the consistent sizes you get out there. Where I am in Pa, I work hard to get maybe one fish in that 16 to 20" size per day. Great video as always though.

Entertaining as always! Any chance you will be doing some fall pike fishing?

I'm not much of a pike fisherman but maybe I'll try for some this fall. If I get out at all during winter pike are usually what I go after.

Freaking wicked man! Our top water bite down here is just now getting up and I can't wait! Great work as always man!
@ndyakangler7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Alex! I went out and tried again the next day but I think the cold overnight temps pretty much finished off the topwater bite for the year in this area. I'm heading down to TX next week to fish Falcon Lake though, might have to pack a few topwater lures to try there.

I’m sure Falcon will be on fire man! Hope you crush some big ones down there!

It's looking like it should be an awesome trip! The water came up like 12ft about a week ago so there will be lots of flooded brush. We have Matt Reed as our guide too so I'm pretty confident he'll put us on some fish!

Love your videos, just wondering if you ever carry a scale and weigh them. Some looks of those 20 inchers look like they could be close to six pounds.
@ndyakangler6 жыл бұрын
A carried a scale for a while a few years ago. I found 19” was pretty consistently 4lbs and 20.5” was 5lbs. I mostly go by length now and can get a good estimate of weight by that. I should start bringing the scale along though, there’s some giants on the stretch of river I fish for the fall bite.

Interesting to see you fishing an area that seems a bit industrial. Usually the backdrop is total nature. Down here fishing close to Chicago most stretches of the river has some sort of industry to it and yet the smallies don't seem to mind. Nice that the industry in both cases does not have a huge impact on the fishery. Those smallies are solid. Top to bottom is just as nice from mouth to fin. Fat!
@ndyakangler7 жыл бұрын
I've been fishing this stretch of river a lot lately, got a few nice ones there again today! I don't have to avoid people hunting geese or ducks this time of year either since it's within city limits.
@johnballard68417 жыл бұрын
Good to hear. The similiar stretch down here is with in eye shot of smoke stacks from a power plant. sadly there are duck blinds in this section and the last couple times down there I've seen the hunters getting ready. The good thing about this time of year, as you know, it doesn't have to be sunrise to have a good day fishing. Thanks for the reply!

I would say because hes not doing it the "KZbin way". I love his videos because of the content and the fact that its not a bunch of bloat. Video starts, he fishes, video ends. No nonsense, no begging, the way its supposed to be.

Couldn't agree more. His film work is outstanding and he doesn't pollute the serenity and beauty of the places he fishes with an obnoxious soundtrack. Keep up the great work Matt!

Cool that this 3 year old vid is popping up in my feed. I’m guessing this was pre power pole days. Question, at what point in your fishing career did you care more about the fish length than the weight? I’d love to know what those fatty’s weighed.

Hey man you have inspired me to look for a kayak! I'm up in Fargo and the only thing I fish for is bass and I've been on the hunt for some good small mouth. I did some detective work this morning and found this location. I'm currently driving from Fargo to Nashville and stopped off for about 20 minutes here and was able to catch three smallies out from under the bridge on a tube. Thank you for sharing your fishing Adventures! I feel like a whole new world has opened up to me right nearby. And don't worry, I will not be sharing this location with anybody! Call it our little secret!
@ndyakangler7 жыл бұрын
That's awesome! Nice detective work too, most people are too lazy to bother doing any research and expect me to just hand over gps coordinates lol. I appreciate you keeping it a secret too, less pressure means better fishing on any body of water. I live in Fargo too so hit me up if you get a kayak and we'll go chase some smallies!
@jesseKFG7 жыл бұрын
NDYakAngler oh yeah man I definitely will. I just started following you recently and I wish I would have found out about this sooner. I've been in Fargo for several years and usually have to hook onto the boat and take it out to do some Lake fishing for bass. Everybody else I know fishes for walleye and I'm more of a bass guy after living in the South for many years. The next step is getting a kayak and actually learning how to fish from it!
@Pat199973 жыл бұрын
wow that current is moving, you must be a great kayaker as well. Would you prefer a foot pedal kayak or do you like the type you use. Some guys just make do with what they have, so that is why I ask.

How many Spooks do you go through? I'm a **HUGE FAN!!** .. I've Leanred so much from you channel sir🙏🙏💪🤠
@ndyakangler4 жыл бұрын
I’ll usually get a half dozen of them every year. Throughout the season I’ll lose a few to pike or tree snags I can’t get to, break one or two casting it into rocks, and the others get beat up enough that I’ll retire them at the end of the year. I have a box with over a dozen of them that the paint is mostly worn off on but they’ll still catch fish.

Didn't you have a power pole? If so why don't you use it when you hook up, or to hold a spot?
@ndyakangler7 жыл бұрын
I didn't have it with. I usually don't bring it when I run these camera rigs because they both run off separate 5lb batteries. Add 30lbs of power pole and it's battery and it gets to be too much weight.

@3DCGdesign5 жыл бұрын
Love all of your videos! Please get a fish scale and weigh them. 2 fish of similar lengths can be much different in size when judging by weight. This top water popper style lure works great for me in the past on the sea for bluefish. They seem to like to hit it when the lure stops for a moment so it’s fun to see the same working for you here.

Is it best to use braided line or monofilament on topwater
@ndyakangler6 жыл бұрын
I’d say it depends on who you ask, it’s really more of a preference kind of thing. I like mono because I fish a lot of clear water but I’ve caught fish there with braid. If they’re picky at all I feel I have a better chance with mono though. Lures with large or heavy hooks like the hollow frog I like braid for better hook penetration.

What is your mic setup? Audio is always so crisp!
@ndyakangler7 жыл бұрын
I have a pair of Zoom H1's, one mounted next to each GoPro. I spend a lot of time on the audio in editing too. I run an EQ that cuts most of the low and high end to get rid of wind and recorder noise. I boost the overall volume quite a bit too but then I have to go through and tone down a lot of the loud noises so they don't clip and cause distortion.
@maciekzdeb7 жыл бұрын
