I made bales last year in the frost. Put on additive and cows went mad for it. Was down for a week and buffed. Heaviest bales I ever made.

I have a rake like that, it needed to be set at or almost at full width to produce a proper row for the baler. It makes a huge difference.

Oh I feel ur pain wit late silage. The fusion has it faults but brilliant in late n early silage. Wrapped on ground. Whatever bout rake make, get one with hydraulic vari width and independent rotor control. Great for straw when u just want one rotor to move swarth.

A class 2800 rake would look well on the back of the 6930 and they make a lovely sward for balers

Going back to my wrapping contracting days late bales with short soft grass like that were an absolute torture. No matter how well the bale was made it would go out of shape in no time. Key was to get it wrapped ASAP after baling. Be prepared to feed well flattened bales during the summer 😂
@gerry6420
@gerry6420 Ай бұрын
That’s what happen, bales were good soild bales when baled but went out shape over night. Few funny shape ones but as a whole once they wrapped they were ok, they’ll be used 😅

Often baled silage this time of year, cattle usually go mad for it. A Class or Pottengier Rake would be my choice 👌🏻

If grouper is set right u can group 20fts no problem for a baler
@gerry6420
@gerry6420 Ай бұрын
In theory yes. If you have the belt speed right and driving perfectly straight lines, you can drop the row perfectly beside the 1st row. In practice though, you’re on hilly ground and the grass is fighting gravity. And falling too far 1 way and not far enough another and Havnt gps to drive 100%. Then no. You’ll have it ok is some parts of field, not in others and bales won’t be uniform.
@mungogerryjnr
@mungogerryjnr Ай бұрын
Hay 😅 Anycase You have a grouper on mower,but didn’t used it. But you didn’t Tedder and then rowed it getting the same result as if you did grouper🤷‍♂️ What was the DM when you baled?
@gerry6420
@gerry6420 Ай бұрын
I didn’t use the grouper as it doesn’t leave a good row for baling. I didn’t intend to rake it at all, but when the rake was available we gave it a try, tedding it would would done very little good as it wouldn’t have dried it any more then it was. Dm wouldn’t be great, I’m not even testing it. Just feed it with mix of better silage.
@mungogerryjnr
@mungogerryjnr Ай бұрын
@ hmmmm If I can,please just say it like a farmer would give/take to piss off Question some stuff here🤷‍♂️ You have a grouper on the mower that basically is hopeless……but it’s still on there?? I’m assuming the mower has a tyne conditioner,tell me it has a conditioner. You say the rake wasn’t working,I’m assuming you mean the Tedder? If so,you started a very late job without the most important bit of kit! You say it wouldn’t have mattered,I’m gonna argue that!! I would have teddered that immediately after mowing and twice the following day and rain permitting until I was convinced I’m getting near 40% and rowed lastly getting hopefully another slight drying. You test DM before baling not afterwards,if you’re spending coin on wrap,you check BEFORE. You say it’s not going to be good feed,tbh the whole last 3/4 of video showed that.Especially the wrapping part you missed out,that said it all but you were honest. You buy new oil for your engine then top it off with black used oil you just took out??? No! You don’t try and feed 40 bales over better quality feed. You used it for compost on another crop😂😂 The truth is if you’re going for it 40% DM has to be,were you that challenged by rain?? I used to run late baleage at any opportunity. But I threw every trick in the book,and I do mean EVERY trick. My favourite is the 650s were off and the 850s were on,IN CASE OF SOFTNESS.I had a 240 hp on a twin axled floater tyred round baler and didn’t make maximum bales.I could get away with zero damage. I certainly didn’t take the square baler!Even with its awesomeness,and Jesus that baler was a stunner.But I would have found the softest part of the paddock then made a nightmare mess trying to get it out! I used inoculated products,not that acid shite you guys use.Its expensive but you doing the job! Otherwise you feed it to cattle standing or bales or both or watch it turn brown,but dont waste money. I had a Krone 5 mtr mower,awesome thing I tell ya.Had flaps set as wide as possible and in warmer weather I could just left as wide rows as possible and the rake would get 10 mtrs of grass which was awesome since it was an eight mtr rake,had to be right on the line but. Row was sweet and balanced Baked beautiful. My biggest trick All the grass gear was the same company been Krone,get flat tyre on the trailed mower,rob off rake.Get a flat work off work mower,rob off round baler.Things worked better I tell ya,100% Krone are expensive but reliable and always had parts is priceless. The No1 reason why that didn’t really work out(grass looked great) No Tedder,should have pulled the old demo trick on a two year old machine KRONE! Any ways, I made mistakes too!
