My friends band used to write songs like Spinal Tap's! (Shh... So did I ha!) Only with less harmonic movement! There's a Rick Wakeman interview on the BBC radio website or BBC sounds app where he describes how thier drummer got stuck in a Clam shell I wonder if that was the inspiration for the Stone Henge stage mishap?! Cool diversion cheers!
@talesfromthetoiletseat82954 жыл бұрын
Very likely. I saw something once with Alice Cooper where he talked about how like in Spinal Tap it was a regular occurrence to get lost backstage at big venues and couldn’t find the stage. Lol I’m sure they took anecdotes and stories and run with it. Nothing wrong with that.

@hansvandermeulen55154 жыл бұрын
The Spinal Tap movie script consisted of description of scenes with room for a lot of improvisation as an actual scripts wouldn't capture the feel of the movie. In order to secure financing some scenes were demoed in 1982, including the Stonehenge scene. The truth is that the use of Stonehenge by both Spinal Tap and Black Sabbath is coincidental, like life imitating art. Makes it all the more hilarious.

Beyond wondering if the amp was on 11, I would note that a good related one could be Status Quo. Despite Status Quo's more serious endeavors, there seems to be some influence upon some of the Spinal Tap tunes as I recall, although noting that KISS probably also influenced some of the material. I guess the boogie woogie style is where I get the Status Quo idea. Granted I a bit rusty of each, now.😎 That Guest could work his craft within the comedic realm is indeed a cool thing. Nugent had his era of comedic enthusiasm with applying guitar and lyrics as well, if nothing but by virtue of the Intensities in 10 Cities lp era. And of course, we can't overlook Zappa!

I've a 1983 CSB-380 Pro II Bass, Cardinal Series, a short scale model myself which I use on occasion for recording. Those short scale bass necks are a blessing to a 99% midrange/standard 6 string guitarist as basses go.
