Of course, when this was brought up the Republican response was that Obama screwed everything up before. All of this just keeps going on and on and on face it, none of the administrations had the guts to pull out of Afghanistan because they knew it was going to be a mess and they were going to be blamed for what was left behind. Biden was the one who finally said enough is enough, basically put to action what all the prior administration said needed to be done. And of course here we are, exactly what is happening, there’s no way to pull out Afghanistan without horrible repercussions to the Afghanistan people, otherwise the United States will be in there forever trying to defend it, the sad thing is Biden was actually right in his speech when he says, how can I justify putting more American troops and lives in there and at risk, when the Afghanistan’s themselves don’t want to defend it. Good point, but not what people want to hear. It doesn’t matter how fast the pull out was, it was going to be a horrible mess. The Taliban already knew. what they need to do to take over. Why do you think the Russians took off in 1978, they suffered the same faith, enormous casualties and cost in a absolute no-win situation. History repeating itself.

I've watched a lot of pundits talk about the exit from Afghanistan and have to say that Seth did a surprisingly good job at explaining it. Most left out the historical context entirely, or severely skewed the situation by using tiny sound bytes or clearly partisan guests. He also got at the hard and awful truth that the only reason we were there so long was because it was never politically expedient to leave.

Obama's last three years as President were spent on the war in Syria and Iraq against Daesh, because the American troops had initially started withdrawal, Trump brokered a deal that he knew was basically a full win for the Taliban, in his last year, hoping that the next President would have to pick up the pieces. My guess is, had he won, he would've reneged on his word and delayed, postponed or cancelled the withdrawal

And from some things I've heard, it is. Seth apparently goes above and beyond to support his staff and provide a positive affirming place to work. That isn't common enough....and it's one of many things I really respect about Seth. His priorities are in the right place.

we spent 20 years there training Afghan soldiers and giving them weapons.. and when the Taliban came, they put their weapons down and put up no resistance. so this was never going to go smoothly. i just don’t see why they didn’t get our people out before withdrawing?

At this moment more people are being shuttled out. No one has been abandoned because the process is still going. Not to mention for the last 6 months the US has told everyone they were leaving. They were warned. Thousands could have left, Americans and Visa Holders. It's like you hear the Hurricanes coming but you wait till it hits and wonder why you can't be helped. So now you put first responders in danger to save your ass. The process is still ongoing. So quit saying 'they abandoned them'. As long as our "first responders" are there, then it isn't over.

Given that as of 2016 Afghanistan had a communication sector worth $2 billion with 5 million internet users (which, granted is far from a majority), that has only been growing since then, I'd say there are a couple of printers around. Also 1 out of 20 Afghani people speaks English.

🎉 Correction 🎉 When Seth is explaining how drugged Trump looked, he said he looked like he’d had a quantity of Sudafed. However Sudafed is Non-Drowsy, and a large dose would be speedy. Seth meant Benadryl, which makes you drowsy. Love you Seth! 🤩
