You joke about iguanas, but it's true, it's true. No less than 6 fully grown lizards fell from trees close to my house. It is also true that they are a food source for some residents, especially those from the southern islands in the Caribbean. It is also true they are an invasive species that can do a lot of damage with their long, strong claws. I'm told they are vegetarian & make good pets. Probably why they are loose all over the place now.

You heard wrong; they do not make good pets (for everyone). They get _large_ and can have a bit of an attitude. There are _a lot_ of iguanas in rescues because their owners got them as babies and didn’t realize how big/angry they get and can no longer care for them. There’s too many people who get pets without doing any research first. Edit: This is probably also a contributing factor to their invasion. The same people who get animals without doing any research are also the kind to release it when they no longer want it.
