So Leo Di Caprio comes into the shop with his squashed-ewok adult-baby face and asks for a book on proper acting where you can use facial expressions until you lose the Danny Day Shamooey paralysed face with ‘zero emotion or expression’. So I say, Leo…revenant reincarnated Neanderthal ice boy…I have just the book for you! It’s called ‘How to break your face whilst acting and the M train schedule stopping at Marcy Ave’ by Robin Williams. Here is the opening paragraph: ‘Whilst at Juliard I regularly visited the Wooster Group shows at the Performing Garage at 33 Wooster Street between Grand and Broome in SoHo. I studied the work of two great actors there. Firstly, I watched intently the work of Willem Dafoe. I was intrigued by his use of an extremely experimental style, often incorporating aspects of audiovisual such as interactive video art, live stream, recorded sound, pre-recorded video, primal screaming and orangutang howls and grunts. His performances of classic texts such as Brecht, Shakespeare, Chekhov, Eugene O'Neill and Gerbil Mulligan were unique in their weird as phuck, out there, ‘am I on LSD?’ styling. The other great actor performing there used an intriguing array of live animals such as axolotyls and goldfish. This highly skilled thespian went on to use these animals in film, as when he used a goldfish in his epic film ‘Deuce Bigalow - American Gigolo’. Rob Schneider’s most famous role in his time at the Wooster….’ …but Leo is out the door and gone. That night I plan my assault on Rob Schneider and the destruction of his book distribution scam apparently operating from a trailer park in Wyoming…
